Find 10 people that have owned a touch-screen Windows 10 laptop, tablet, or PC for more than a month if they would be willing to go back to a non-touch enabled device. It is not only useful, it changes the way some of us work and we will never go back.
Um... you were probably being rhetorical, but I'm up to 7 already, I can probably find another 3 after work.

I really really hope that Apple nails it tomorrow and blows the Surface Pro off the planet. But, I really don't expect it. And if Apple does not blow the Surface Pro off the planet, then I hope a lot of people in the audience have the courage to stand up and boo. Either innovate now Apple or face the music. I need to buy computers and I am not buying low end over priced crap just because it has an Apple logo.

I expect Apple to blow everyone away tomorrow with A10X powered Macs.

I find this to be short-sighted.

Microsoft has pulled out of their rear the coolest desktop computer in recent memory.

People buy things on looks; it's certainly what drew me to Apple in the first place.

Twenty eight MacRumors forum pages say that this machine is not to be underestimated.

If Tim is sighing relief at this point, he's pulling a Steve Ballmer post-iPhone release.

Agreed.

Who cares what MS does... Nothing will compel me to buy into the MS eco system. Where is the Thunderbolt or new USB standard? 4 USB 3.0, 2008 circa? . ROFL Please. Innovation, my ass!

Im really looking out for Tim's snooze fest party tomorrow. Where The MacBookpro, which have been around on rumorsites for months now, are the only computer related things being introduced now. Same price, little bit better specs and magic band are the things that took them 5 years to make.

They won't introduce new iMacs tomorrow because the surface studio overshadows it.

If Microsoft and Adobe work closely together they would put the final nail in Apple's computer coffin
We all know (hopefully) that Tim had been acting like "Indiana Jones" and traveling places and invest companies. I wish Tim look back to history of Apple and recognize why Apple was success. Whenever I see Tim in the media and being asked about Steve Jobs, I had a sense that he was in denial/ or deflecting the truth.

Except that it's not.
I totally respect it if you don't like Windows because you are accustomed to something else (I myself am not at home with Windows either and haven't used it on my computer for years now), but calling it "insecure, crashy garbage" in 2016 is... not even worth a good laugh.

Insecure nope. I'll say it, Windows has been pretty secure since Vista (dun dun dun). Then only got better since with Windows 7, 8 and 10. OSX, I am not sure, I felt like when it got more popular, more security vulnerabilities started to come out. I actually have had to format my Mac more than my desktop PC I built just because I couldn't trust it.

Crashy, possibly, I find its usually due to NVDIA pushing out a GPU update without ever vetting it. But again you will only find this problem on a computer you build yourself, one which you buy from a company, Dell or Microsoft just won't push it you device (assuming you don't use a another option to keep it up to date).

... and Apple is not able to program a sufficient usb-mouse driver for their Macs ...
I just upgraded to Sierra and the scroll wheel of all my usb-mices (logitech) is laggy or to fast .. not predictable - such a crap ... scrolling trough a stack of images is just not possible

Who uses thunderbolt these days? It's another attempt from Apple to lure you into expensive peripherals. It's going the same way as FireWire.

Well I've got Thunderbolt external drives because I bought an late 2013 iMac and the file transfer speed is incredible compared to eSATA or USB 3.0 which is the previous best I used. TB3 is 4x that.

Totally agree with you. I'm not buying the :apple: but I'm buying design AND substance.

:apple: Of today stands for aging overpriced technology in a boring same old same old design.

Doesn't matter how much protection you have when the dumb customer opens an email .doc attachment which contained an encrypted dll which was executed via windows and 6 hours later every file was encrypted. Fully patched windows 10, Sophos antivirus, ad blockers galore, no flash, no java, no local admin rights. Just a dumb user and some zero day exploit, also sophos is ****. Lucky he didn't have network share permissions and had an offline backup. Lucky we don't have guns in the UK or I would have just put them down.

Just as an FYI: many of these exploits don't care anymore if it's windows or OSx. We've had similar malware hit the couple of OSx users we had as well.

This is a great looking computer. The monitor is fantastic. But who is this computer really for? It's not for your typical PC user. It's not for gamers. It's supposedly marketed toward iMac users but those are consumers for the most part and this is a professional work station? Yet it's pretty limited in terms of hardware for a professional workstation. While it can play 4k, the graphics cards it uses only support hardware decoding of 1080p, so you're not going to get optimal 4k performance which means, you probably really don't want to use it for editing or compositing 4k video. You would need hardware decoder / encoder which you can't install because there is no place to put them. What about 3d? Can you sculpt and paint in 3d on it with the graphics cards it comes with? GeForce 960M or 980M... They are mobile graphics cards for laptops, not workstations... Anyways, this thing is targeting graphics pros but it's not really workstation caliber. It's got style... It's got workstation level costs... But it's not a workstation... It's not portable like a MacBookPro... It's way more expensive than an iMac... While it has a beautiful touch screen, touch screens on PC's or laptops are really nothing more than a gimmick, you're not going to be productive with a touch screen, in fact I would argue that a touch screen computer is horrible UX because you're constantly getting in your own way every time you lift to touch the screen, you're blocking half of the monitor (laptops). As for drawing, I don't know about you guys, but when I draw on my tablet or when I draw on paper, I'm constantly turning the tablet or paper so that I can get the perfect angle for my arm and what I'm working on. I don't think that would be possible with this... The Surface Wheel? These things have been around for a long time, google 3dconnexion, these have x,y,z axis, they do the same thing as the Surface Wheel but you don't put them on the display. Griffin also made a wired and wireless wheel you could get for jog / shuttle functionality. So in my opinion, this is an overpriced, underpowered workstation that looks fantastic... For the same money, $4,200 (because the lower models are definitely not workstation caliber) you can do much better... You can build a way better PC and buy a Lenovo Yoga Home. Or you could buy an iMac and an iPad Pro... Or you could buy a fully tricked out MBP and still have money left over to go on vacation... So while this is a great looking computer, IMHO there is a very, very small niche for it. I'm sure there will be a lot of companies that also buy them for their receptionist because they look cool. Don't forget, with Windows (even 10) come blue screen errors... My Surface tablet gets them all the time, so I only use it for testing now.
After pages of mindless drooling, reality is finally kicking in!

You've got trapped in the Apple jail garden.

But the Cintiq is a specialized product not meant to be a PC. This is a PC and I feel that aside from the screen, its not really worth the $3000.

I agree, but don't understand the point. Even if it was $1000 cheaper, if you don't want touch/digitizer you are not the target audience and have lots of better choices.

Pretty impressive looking for a windows desktop, it's priced based on it being aimed at a niche market though and not mainstream. I like that they have taken tech from the desk size surfaces and added it to these with the dial thingy.

I still remember when the Mac user was the niche market, so MS is catching on. I like this Studio thing'... a lot, but only time will tell if the quality is there.

You can disable all of Microsoft's telemetry in the enterprise version of Windows 10. Ready to talk now?
Yes of course, because as we know it, the vast majority of Windows users use Enterprise ed...*

If of course that is even accurate.

A lot will depend on the available apps and tools. Can Office integrate it? And videogames?

Sounds to me that the issue is with the Logitech mouse driver.

I have to say that this computer is amazing, but 3k for the specs is way too much. If this machine came maxed out for $3k I would be the first in line, but no way I'm paying this much for last year's GPU, non-upgradable all in one.

I just want that freaking display.

I have to say that Windows, and MS as a whole, has been much more exciting than apple in the past few years. Last year I was in the market for a laptop, the Air was essentially an ideal machine but for some reason Apple decided to leave the Air with a crappy low res display.

I got an XPS 13' instead, and I couldn't be happier. Windows 10 is actually very good and I don't miss OSX at all.

Thunderbolt was co-developed by Apple and Intel. It has since evolved into USB 3.1, so its not going away and it does provide great bandwidth that other interfaces have failed to provide. It's a shame that MS did not use the latest technology to provide their customers with leading-edge products.

$2299 is the high-end standard config. Add $600 for the 32 GB RAM and $250 for the better GPU. That gets you to $3149. Do you really think a touch screen that isn't pressure sensitive is going to add another $900 to the price? No way. If that were true, then MS is guaranteed to be losing money on a pressure-sensitive touch screen the size of the Surface Studio.
it's not just the touch screen. it's that ti's a 28" touchscreen in non-standard dimension at a higher than 4k resolution, that ALSO includes full active digitizer.

the current close competitor to the display tech itself is the Wacom 28" cintiq display which is currently retailing for $2800 (without computer)

There's likely markup in there, but even as is, the monitor here is the most expensive component by a large margin. Its because of this that the price, while high, isn't necessarily unjustifiable.

I agree; not only my mice are behaving less-responsively, but so are the trackpads on my 2011 and 2012 machines, both built in and external. Those things used to be smooth-as-silk.

I also think that Sierra as a whole is slower than previous Mac OSes, and far less stable. I think Apple has been cheating with the built-in SSD speed and neglecting their code. They need to pull a Snow Leopard-like performance optimization trick out of their hat.

But I don't expect it.
