The surface studio concept is something that a lot of folks have been desiring from the iMac for quite some time. I know quite a few people who use similar large touch screens already in their design/ audio/art studios and I find the concept incredibly appealing myself. Just not sure I'm ready to return to Windows as an OS.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 965M 2GB GPU GDDR5 memory or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M 4GB GPU GDDR5 memory isn't really that much better than Apples current (1 year old) iMac offerings.

Yes, saw this on another thread.

LOVE it.

This is exactly what I wanted the iMac to be: a TB display with the iMac G4 trick arm.

This is a HUGE cannon blast across Apple's bow. Mr. Nadella is making the right moves at Microsoft.

I'm now more excited than I've been in a LONG time for an Apple event.

But this time is not because I expect (insanely) great things, but just to see if Apple has an answer to this.

As I said in another thread:

Damn it Apple, get your head out of your iOS!!

THIS is innovation.

I know I got z series...I'm dropping the desire for Mac Pro for this.

(Pat500000 drops Mac Pro)

Ms won...literally beaten Apple in "products release" category. Apple couldn't release anything in terms of desktop.

Be interesting to see what Apple brings to the table tomorrow. My guess is that the MacBook Air goes bye bye, the iMac gets more prosumer updates, the Mac Mini & Mac Pro gets ignored, the MacBook gets a nominal spec increase and the MacBook Pro slips even further away from the "Pro" name that made it one of the industry standards for so long.

I don't think I'd ever buy a Studio, but I would certainly by a newer generation Surface Book in a year's time. Especially if Apple decides to make the MBP more like it's crappy MB with only one damn USB-C port. I also have a Surface Pro, and with the updates provided by Microsoft for Windows 10, I've not had any more issues, even with battery life. Now I can get close to 8 hours of battery life, comparable to my current MBP.

I know that the Surface book has had its fair share of issues, but I have to admit that I like it quite a bit, especially the battery life.

Luckily, Apple should have something good tomorrow, too.
I'm sure we'll end up with stuff that's comparable in performance and price, though maybe not in the same battery range as the SurfaceBook. But I just reeeeeeeally hope they don't neglect the desktop line, because that Studio is just Microsoft's industrial design team flipping Apple the bird, and I'm over here wondering if I can get macOS running on it.

Last year's GPU's at today's prices. I guess Microsoft is learning from Apple lol
For a $3000 machine pushing that many pixels couldn't Microsoft at least put in a 1070?

At least the 13" Surface Book's 965M will be faster than the rumored m460 that will be in the rMBP 15

I think it was a good idea to put the processing power in the base so they could keep the monitor thin. However, we had purchased a Surface Book for a user at work and it was a disaster and we ended up replacing it with a Surface Pro. I'm always dealing with Surface problems at work where the MacBook Pros just work. This isn't just a Windows issue because some of the MacBook Pros are running Windows.

Surface Studio is by far the best looking desktop PC I have ever seen. Before it it was the iMac. It is expensive, but if you add 1TB of SSD to the iMac they cost about the same. The downside is 8GB of RAM in the base model for 2999$.

Yep... it will be interesting to see how Apple responds to this (they responded to Surface w/ the iPad Pro), but it will be TRULY interesting to see if Wacom starts slowly dying.
I can't be the only one who wants to see Wacom struggle. Their prices and the rate of improvements to their professional product line really show how little competition they've had over the past decade.

A lot of people feel that was about MacOS, especially after the last 2-3 years of Apple software "innovation", which has been nonexistent.
I think its less about innovation but the direction that Apple positioned OS X. I think integrating iOS/OS X interactions and bringing them closer together is Apple's intent (read shared clip board), where as MS is adding some kick-ass features

How about we wait until tomorrow before we start comparing this to Apple's current offerings? Is it that hard to wait one day?

Yes. This is why Microsoft strategically does their event one day ahead. In the past, they have missed the mark. Let's see if they have this time.
