From my experience it's really bad, really limited, and not worth it.

For example, you cannot Like or react to a message. You cannot reply to a message directly. You cannot view or send images. You cannot see the entire message history. You can't even chat with groups with Phone Link. It's basically worthless unless you want to experience SMS from 2004.

Yes sort of shows you how locked down IOS is and developers struggle to bring greater functionality to its users

Shame really as link to windows for Androids is fully featured app giving you control over your phone and the ability to run multiple apps etc etc

Still makes me sad. It’s been so long that sometimes I think maybe I imagined it, but I remember Steve Jobs announcing FaceTime and iMessage, and declaring both would be onensource - or at least made so any platform could use it freely.

And then he passed, and the penny pinchers mucked it up…

That was surprisingly open and forward thinking for Jobs. Wish they would’ve stuck to the plan.

It's great that Microsoft is trying to add more useful features to people, while Apple is not letting them do it. Great job Apple, way to make life easier for people who own iPhones but on a PC. Isn't that like 90% of iPhone users.

huh? That's a close-minded way of looking at things.

Perhaps Apple doesn't bring iMessage to other platforms because of security/privacy (won't be encrypted anymore).
Maybe it's on Microsoft/Androids end to come up with a better solution to compete with iMessage.
No one knows the answer.

But if you don't like what Apple is doing by not having iMessage open, leave? No one is forcing you here and there's plenty of great alternative Apple products out there (Zune, Windows Mobile, Android watches and tables, Tile, SkullCandy headphones, Alexa speakers, FireTV/Boxee Box, Pandora/Napster, etc 🙃)

In addition, messages are only delivered to a PC while the iPhone is connected via Bluetooth.

I wonder if the quote above is accurate. It could mean that when PC is connected to iPhone, only the PC will receive messages and no other devices would. I don’t think that’s what they intend to mean. I think they mean:

In addition, the PC can receive messages only when it is connected to the phone via Bluetooth

I believe that was about FaceTime and they eventually kind of did with the FaceTime links for Android and Windows in iOS 15. It goes without saying that an app would be preferable.

Does anyone feel like this is still a half-baked Windows App? This App would be perfect for Microsoft Lumia.

Microsoft absolutely blew it by not continuing the Windows phone, regardless of profitability at the time. It was superior to iOS in myriad ways. Possibly the worst decision in business history. It would have become profitable eventually, maybe even surpassing iPhone.

I think it was only FaceTime but still, Apple was far more open-source friendly back then, look at Darwin and WebKit for example.

which hackintosh method did you go with?

Shame RTX cards arent supported.. itd be amazing
Opencore! It's amazing. I used a guide from TonyMac for my Gigabyte Z690 Aero G motherboard. Pretty easy to follow. Only issue i have is bluetooth does NOT want to work properly in Ventura. For some reason it's flawless in Monterey.... but others don't have this problem like I do, I don't know whats up. I'm sure there's a fix but i've spent already a lot of time on it. Other than that, everything works 100%.
