Where did you see 10 pounds? From the Microsoft website:That design is odd to me. Who wants to use a laptop where the screen is covering the keyboard? And 10 pounds? Ouch.

you mean like how the iPad Pro copied the Surface Pro design.
I don't know that they nail everything. But I like that they're trying new things. Apple is beginning to break out of its torpor though. At least they're trying new colors, and the iMac did change. (People who think the chin should have disappeared haven't thought it through; there's 2 reasons that's still there)Love how Microsoft nails it with new design solutions making Apple look conservative and bad (MacBook, iPad, …).
would love to see some creativity and innovation in the Mac and iPad compartment: in hardware and software.
Yep. The first thing I though of when I saw the video. Vaio had a lot of interesting designs back in the day.The next evolution that other companies have already done? The Sony Vaio Flip came out in 2014.

Where do you find Surface specific revenue in their financials? If you look at their financials, currently it's approximately an $8 billion a year business.
Every quarter when MS does their financial conference calls, they mention Surface sales by revenue.Where do you find Surface specific revenue in their financials?
For me it's the 24" M1 iMacFor me so far this year the iPad Mini and the new Apple TV 4K are still the best devices that have been launched.
Nope at the time so many third party cover were already available with keyboard for iPad 2-3-4. Everyone copied Apple smartcover and third party keyboardyou're nitpicking. Look at the iPad Pro design pre-Surface Pro and after Surface. Apple copied the general design of the Surface Pro. And I'm glad. The Surface Pro is a good design.
I also like the concepts that Microsoft is showing off. But as someone who gave up on the Surface Pro after 3 dead machines within a year, I am more interested in the actual execution. Those Surfaces were way to fragile…Dying to see the Duo reviews. Love the concept, hope they’ve done away with most of the infancy issues.
Please show me where on the mbp.Almost every laptops have vents on the side, close to bottom. Including mbp. Not sure what the new issue is here.
On another note, I find it funny they never show the back side of the laptop lol
Not necessarily. Maybe there wasn't any compelling new Qualcomm SoC to upgrade the SPX with. Also, it won't be until the 2nd half of 2022 that we see the fruits of Qualcomm's Nuvia acquisition. So if there is a major update coming to the SPX, that's the most likely time we see it.
It's almost as if Microsoft wondered, "How can we make this look like a combination of a MacBook Pro & iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard?" And then another engineer walked in & asked, "Can we make it kinda retro chunky, like a 90s Dell?" And the lead Microsoft designer said, "Hold my beer."
all the workplace users I know have their surface books scaled at 150% at least, and use external monitors for the majority of the time. They are the same target market, who will just run this at 100% scaling instead.I'm really pissed off with Microsoft's design choice here.
While I love my macs, for our work place, we decided to go with Windows machines due to potential software compatibility issues. We decided to go for Microsoft Surface Books as they are versatile, built to a relatively high standard and most importantly, had absolutely fantastic high resolution screens. You really can fit so much on these screens and it's something where Microsoft has been really ahead of their competition. Now it turns out they're replacing the Surface Book line with the Surface Laptop Studio. It looks fine at first glance, but then it turns out it has a much lower resolution screen. It is between 50 and 80% lower resolution than the Surface Books it is replacing. All because I think they think a 120hz display is more important. 120hz is literally meaningless for office productivity. Being able to fit more documents and tables on the screen is a *huge* plus, however.
I just don't know who their target market is with these laptops because it certainly doesn't seem to be workplace users anymore.
The Surface Book 3 15" had a 260ppi resolution while the Surface Book Studio has a 201ppi resolution. That's about 22.7" less resolution. So yeah, definitely quite less but nowhere near 50% to 80% less. The benefit of the 120hz refresh rate is two reasons: to provide for a much better stylus and gaming experience. It looks fine at first glance, but then it turns out it has a much lower resolution screen.
