I couldn't have said it better. The lack of user-controlled multitasking in iOS is disturbing... (Halting the app and displaying a screenshot isn't actually multi-tasking.)Why would you want a dumb OS on a pro device? I can't even do something as basic as putting an active SSH session in the background on my iPad without it dying.

EY! someone trying out new ideas!
My Surface Pro 3 is my first Windows Machine in 20 years, and is awesome, I love it more than my rMBP as I'm an artist, battery, price, features and power are really balanced BUT I've dedicated 100 times more time to fix my Windows problems in this 3 years than 20 years using Macs.
I really really love the device, but I really really hate the OS (can't understand how is this possible now a days...)
...Umm. It’s more than halting and displaying a screenshot these days on iOS, and has been for a few years now.If that device would have single foldable screen we could finally have a phone/tablet combo. Or tablet/laptop combo (in terms of screen size).

Although, I have given up on Apple when it comes to "Pro". They only deliver Premium, but not Pro.
Without a true Mac Pro I'm not sure if Final Cut has a future or will be discontinued like Aperture. iOS is barely evolving in certain terms either (be it the bluetooth stack or said multitasking,...).
Until it has an Apple logo on it, then you will find some reasonFinally! I can’t wait to not buy one of these; I’ve always not wanted one!
Is in conflict with this:Because one man’s dumb OS is another man’s productivity lifeline.
I don’t see the point of trying to run a desktop OS on a device with a screen that small, much less when you will be lacking access to desktop peripherals such as a keyboard and mouse, no less.
Seems gimmicky to me. So it’s just a small laptop? Running windows 10? I am not sure I see the point yet. Cool looking device though.

Oh please, not bendgate all over again!Apple will destroy everyone with the release of a razor thin bendable OLED phone in the future. Mark my words!
Way late.

So it’s basically like all those Martin Hajek that every rumor site posts. Like a few years ago when he designed an Apple TV box with chamfered edges and an Apple TV remote that looked like a skinny iPhone 5 (including the chamfered edges). It’s one thing to share a leak of an actual prototype but I never understood sharing some random graphic designer’s render based on a patent application or a rumor. Of course it’s easy for a graphic designer to mock up something cool looking. They don’t have to engineer a thing, they just have to make it look pretty. Here are some other concept renders (by the same David Breyer) of the MS Andromeda device. These don't look quite the same as the ones above this thread do they?
The Verge only nitpicked one of the many renders/designs David Breyer made. This only proves that all speculations about the design are premature and one should not believe all the information (including from The Verge and MacRumors) one gets. David Breyer, who has nothing to do with MS, is only guessing about the design and others (like many people posting here) mistake this for the absolute truth.
The only conclusion to be drawn here is that this makes a nice addition to David Breyer's portfolio.

I always find it amusing when someone gives an example of a very niche or obscure productivity task that can’t be done with iOS as a reason for iPad not being a real productivity device. There isn’t only one definition of productivity.Because one man’s dumb OS is another man’s productivity lifeline. I don’t see the point of trying to run a desktop OS on a device with a screen that small, much less when you will be lacking access to desktop peripherals such as a keyboard and mouse, no less.
Sigh, trying to imply something?Microsoft Courier 2.0.
Why not announce when ready? It's the equivalent of Apple announcing their car, now. The tech press need to up their game. Oh yeah, forgot, the tech press cares little beyond clicks and ad impressions. A point against MR for not mentioning Courier.
And why are Microsoft using this wallpaper? It's so close to the wallpaper Apple included with and used heavily in the marketing of iOS 9: http://i.imgur.com/swl1WmC.png
I hope all these companies develope a phone mode OS when folded and tablet mode OS when unfolded. This would merge both device requirements.
Imagine if an OS and app can run in phone mode, tablet mode and laptop/desktop mode. The battery and performance can scale up/down depending on the mode of the device it has been placed. Low power phone mode, normal power tablet mode and high power laptop/desktop mode.
App/Game developers can create one app, vice 2-3 versions and the power requirements and graphic settings can scale accordingly. Imagine a world and day-to-day life with only one device.

Microsoft is working on a pocket-sized dual-screen Surface device according to information sourced from Microsoft internal documents and shared by The Verge.
Called Andromeda, Microsoft's dual-screen Surface project has been in development for at least two years and it's designed to "blur the lines between mobile and stationary computing," according to an internal document.
Microsoft's device will feature a wraparound display that bridges the gap of the hinge when it is fully opened, and according to The Verge, December renderings shared by David Breyer are "identical" to the current prototype versions of the upcoming Surface. The pocketable Surface can be folded in either direction or laid flat, as can be seen in the renderings.![]()

Microsoft is said to be experimenting with stylus input for the pocket Surface, with prototype devices equipped with styluses and notepad-like apps for note taking.![]()

The Verge's sources warn that work on Andromeda could be ceased at anytime, but Microsoft is said to have tentative 2018 release date plans, which would mean development on the device is nearing completion.
Some nebulous rumors have suggested Apple too is exploring some similar concepts, working with LG to develop an iPhone with a foldable display. Apple explores many concepts and designs for its devices, so there is likely to be some truth to the rumor.
The folding display technology being developed by LG is still a few years off, so if Apple moves forward with some sort of design that's similar to what Microsoft is working on, we won't be seeing it for several years.
At the current time, Apple is focusing on edge-to-edge displays and making a transition to OLED technology. In fall 2018, Apple is expected to introduce a second-generation 5.8-inch OLED iPhone X, a 6.5-inch OLED device that can be thought of as an "iPhone X Plus," and a 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD display that will be available at a more affordable price point.
All three devices will feature edge-to-edge displays and no Home button, instead adopting Face ID and the TrueDepth camera system.
