Btw, it's propably the keyboard that's a little different. I assume they have one more key, just like Apple's laptops outside the US (as in here in Denmark, the rest of EU, including UK) has one more key. Further, we have a danish kb here, if you had any doubts

yeah, i figured the UK would have a pound key added somewhere, and europe would be all mad different.

From a comment by "Jan" after the NY Times article in the original post:

"So “Windows. Life without walls” is the campaign slogan. I can already hear what a Seinfeld not paid by Microsoft would say in his monologue: "If you live a life without walls- why on earth would you need windows?"

Interesting.

The HP dv5t basic model is about $700 less than a comparable MBP, that's with the included rebate of $100.
Although there are some subtle differences, including the HP's lack of Firewire (AFAIK) and the Express Card. But, the MBP has a fewer pixels in the screen and a smaller hard-drive.

This is good for HP. Maybe there's hope for them yet.
Actually, the dv5t does include firewire, and express card (the media remote is stored there)
Also, here's a post from me yesterday:

Actually, it's not the pound key. It's in the bottom row

Edit: I don't think it's in the bottom row – it's in one of the two middle rows.

new apple ad ?

I wonder if Jerry is a bad breaker upper.

New apple ad idea:-

PC guy : hi jerry see your promoting pc's

Jerry : Not any more couldn't find anything good to say so we didn't say anything turns out thats a bad ad- pans out showing him using a mac - "you know I always used macs anyway" and this ad I do for free

Jerry has moved on to bigger and better things.Mastercard commercials.A card that he may use to purchase a nice new ipod.

Wait.... what are you talking about? a different symbol on a key, or literally an EXTRA key?

Litterally an extra key.

On the dansih keyboard, the two "<>"-keys are used for , and . respectively, and they are added to the left of "z", cutting a piece of the left shift key (on the US kb). That's the extra key.
On the row above, but to the right, we have only two regular keys to the right of "P" (namely "Å" and "¨", then comes the Return-key. This however, is weighed against the return-key doesn't describe a mirrored L, but rather the row has Æ, Ø, and ' to the right of "L".

[Edit]
is it a "euro" key?

My dollar key is to the left of the "1" on the top row. My €-sign is on the "4", and if I press alt+4 I get "£".

This however is a different set up than the british.
We all, however, do have an extra physical key.[/Edit]

Confused? You won't be after this episode of … (sorry).

You think so? I think its one of the greatest thing about Apple. You don't have to loose your head over soooo many choices. Apple makes a computer for every kind of audience. I don't know I think this small line up makes buying a mac very easy. While when you enter Best Buy you wanna kill someone.

:apple: iLike

That post is a not-so-cleverly disguised cry for a cheapo midtower Mac... something THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

It's time to shut up about it.

This is a complete failure. MS have been owned in the advertising space, and have failed again. Who do Microsoft think they are? The Democrats?

Wow! It took 99 posts to inject lame ass politics into this thread! Good job, douche!

Microsoft's platform (which is what they are advertising) offers more hardware options than Macs do. Not that hard to understand. :D

Yep. PC makers offer cheap pieces of crap, while Apple doesn't. Definitely not that hard to understand.

No, that's not danish, that's dutch :eek::p

Man, need a picture!

No, that can't be right!?
:p

Here it is:

Yup, that's the one. My picture is better, though ;)

Edit: On closer inspection, wikipedia got it wrong. At least on macs. Look at the @-sign. On a Mac that one is to the left of the return key, the €-sign is in a different place and so on. In fact, the Wiki-keyboard is mostly correct because it has the right number of keys, but it IS a windows keyboard, meaning so many things are different.

Isn't the DELL dude available/out of jail?

I actually liked the 4 minute family ad, it was quite funny I thought, but when they chopped it up for airing, it really didn't make any sense and wasn't very funny. Seinfeld is simply not a quick one-liner type comedian. In a 30 sec commercial the man is virtually useless as a comedian or pitch man unless you're just using him for his voice. So I'd say complete waste of money for Microsoft and Seinfeld is laughing all the way to the bank and probably happy they ditched him.

Now that Seinfeld's out, isn't the Dell dude out of jail now and available?

He was pretty funny in short 30 sec commercials that were great at ramming junk down your throat and letting you know it upfront! :D

I could see these Ad Warz getting nasty, in the same nasty below-the-belt sense that the Election 2008 between Obama and McCain have gotten ultra nasty. Microsoft could, if they were gutsy enough, could literally KILL Apple and hammer the Mac brand by showing an ad where PC Gaming rules, and that same ad literally mocking and poking fun of the pathetic state of Mac gaming.

Advertisement:

"Hey audience! Look here! We're playing the latest and greatest Windows Vista games! See that? Fraggin fun fun fun! Whoooaaa! Cool graphics here, huh? Oh, look over in that dark pathetic corner? That lonely guy in the corner is the pathetic Apple Macintosh Gurly-Man. He's playing the greatest and most advanced game available on his Apple machine... it's called... PONG! It's a really old black and white video game from 35 years ago. We're not exactly sure what the purpose of that game is. What a loser. But never mind the Apple Loser over there. Let's focus back on us over here... at the Windows Vista Arcade, where we have all these latest games.... "

Swing and miss by a mile.

P.S. People use computers a lot for many other things than games.

The new ads will have some appearances from Bill Gates but will also show other celebrities as everyday PC users in "fast-paced, upbeat vignettes" about their use of Microsoft Windows based PCs.
"You can uhhhh.... put... put lipstick on a pig and... it's still a pig.":D

Seriously tho. Even if Microsoft got Steve Jobs himself to say Windows is amazing, I don't think they'll be able to sell more copies of their OS.
