I knew it.... no MS Office for iPad until the surface is dead. MS just sucks.

They suck for not throwing everything onto a competitor's device?

I guess Apple sucks for not putting any of their apps o the RT, for abandoning Safari on Windows, for not making FaceTime open, and so forth and so forth.

"Integrated" keyboard! You just have to carry it around with you and snap it into place whenever you want to use it.

--------------

Seems to me that the people that use the iPads in these commercials have never used an iPad or seen one being used in their life.

Not to mention pay extra for it (even if it comes with the tablet it is clearly built into the price.)

why were they touting the weight and such like? This just speaks of poor advertising, the ipad came out looking better! lol... As someone else has said, why didnt they at the very least compare 32GB models, then the Surface might of had a chance!

;)

MS: can you save the advertising cash and make a true next gen console without 2011 midrange tech.

Can my digital purchases carry over??? No??? Boooo

to add: The surface, better with Kinect!!! Waiting for that advert. I do think MS tablets are far better than Androids offerings though, Win8 works well for tablets. IMO

If you're STILL angry about your digital 360 games not being transffered, at least there is a technical reason they can't and aren't just doing it so you'll buy a remake or something.

What the average person sees in these commercials:

"Look... it's an iPad... and some other device"

The iPad is one of the most recognizable pieces of technology. I love how Microsoft gives the iPad even more screen time.

And speaking of screen time... why are they still making these commercials? Aren't they in enough trouble already with the lack of Surface RT sales?

Why are they wasting even more money on more expensive primetime commercials? Is it really gonna help?

Why don't they make a commercial showing the CRAAAAAAAZZZZY amount of people that hate Windows 8's guts, I work in retail and 99% of people hate it to death, in fact someone said to me today, Windows 8 is the worst invention in human kind since bigfoot...

You sir, are WRONG. Bigfoot was one of the most awesome inventions in the history of mankind.

I expected it, I am not really angry, I went in to every arcade/DLC purchase knowing it was a glorified rental. Might be technical, might not to be honest. They got the Xbox 1 (original) stuff to port over to the 360, at least the larger games.

Whatevs though, cant do much about it.

I still have to say that my favourite parts of these Microsoft comparison ads is the "The iPad doesnt have Office" comments.

Well i wonder why Microsoft.

Thats like someone at Apple complaining that a Surface doesn't run iPhoto.
or Mitsubishi complaining because their cars don't have FordSync built in.

Yes, consumers are stupid, but the ones you are aiming the surface RT at are not THAT stupid.

It's a really good Ad

If Microsoft keeps its focus they can fully develop Win 8 and the Surface platform into a giant headache for Apple. We have four ecosystems (Microsoft/Apple/Android/SBS-NAS), five if you count the NSA[joke], competing for your data & dollars.

It wouldn't take too much effort for MSFT to win this battle of giants. Steve Jobs is gone and Apple is struggling to keep their market identity razor sharp.

Apple needs to step it up.

Wow... the M$$$oft commercial with the wedding was ingenious, then they had another one after that was "OK"... this latest one is just pure BS.

There are tons of accessories out there that can turn your iPad into a display and better keyboards too than the crap that you pay loads for with M$$$oft.

Also, games are much better on the iPad : )

And about work? More utilities on iOS as well --- and even better -- Apple PAGES, which is HEAPS better than M$$$ofts crap Office that hasnt improved ANYTHING over the years. One example of how Apple's Pages is better: You can position graphics anywhere without being restricted to a stupid grid, and you can rotate and resize elements easily too -- it also has that nifty tool to get rid of background colours and the text flows around just the image (and not the background if you've removed it) -- no need for an image editing tool. That's how Apple innovates.

M$$$oft just made themselves look like desperate sore losers... they should have stuck to the wedding commercial.. THAT was awesome (and TRUE)~!

Whoops. OK so it was Nokia (no wonder it was good).

Why does Microsoft keep thinking people want a keyboard and USB connectivity on their tablets. If I wanted to connect my USB and have a full keyboard, I'd use a laptop, not a tablet.

Better yet, why does Microsoft keep deceiving consumers with these ads making it appear the Surface even comes with a keyboard? I just love how the use the smallest print stating the keyboard is separate but the ad suggests that it comes with one to trump the iPad. Karma MS, Karma. :D

The screen comparison is totally misleading and disingenuous. I don't see how anyone could excuse that.

You can't compare screens with different aspect-ratios using diagonal measurements.

The iPad screen actually has 26% more screen area than the Surface.

http://www.t-gaap.com/2012/6/20/microsofts-surface-area-stinks

ipad_vs_Surface_area.large.png

iPad Display Area: 45.24 sq in.
Surface Display Area: 35.88 sq in.

And as other mentioned, the resolution and DPI is also much higher on the iPad.

While it will fool some people, I also think that there is a lot of people (including many less technology inclined people) that understand that diagonals can't be compared like that, as many realized that a 32" HDTV was smaller than their old 32" CRT SDTV.

Come on Microsoft, saying that it has an integrated keyboard and then writing "Sold Separately", WTF? The touch cover doesn't come with the RT, this is so desperate :p .

No amount of advertising is going to save the Surface RT at this point. Windows RT itself is a ship that was set out to sea with a broken bottom. It's too late to make it float.

This is their "I'm a Mac" series. I see no real difference here. The problem is that the surface rt < iPad, in more ways than just price.

Some of you guys need to seriously quit this about comparing Microsoft's acts of desperation advertisements against Apple's Get a Mac ads. There's a huge difference. Apple always focused on the problems of Windows that people were currently having and have always had.
The iPad not having a built-in USB port hasn't seemed to have been a problem for consumers as it's still the #1 selling tablet on the market.

Why Microsoft would shoot themselves in the foot and show the iPad being lighter in weight than the Surface is just plain stupid. Even if the weights were reversed and the iPad was heavier it still would be stupid. It's simply nitpicking.

Then Microsoft is being deceitful suggesting that the Surface comes with a keyboard. I've never seen Apple suggest their products come with accessories in ads when they really didn't.

And in regards to Office, another deceitful trick. First, with today's tech options Office is becoming less relevant but to say it comes with Office in the ad, well...yes it does...but MS fails to even state in the small print that it's a preview version and the full version will be downloadable later....AND it's compatible with programs from the Windows store and not any legacy Windows software....But they don't want to tell you that in the ad of course. ;)

Why does Microsoft keep thinking people want a keyboard and USB connectivity on their tablets. If I wanted to connect my USB and have a full keyboard, I'd use a laptop, not a tablet.

What's worse, the keyboard is not included, right? You can get a similar keyboard for the iPad. It's not a fair comparison, IMHO.

Maybe Apple should release an advert with the sales numbers since Surface was launched? Not that Apple needs to do that.

Bring on the next round of iPad update!

No idea why they mention the keyboard... there are about 2,000 3rd party keyboards available for every iPad plus an official bluetooth one from Apple... there are only two keyboards for the surface.

With a variation for every major language. As far as I can tell Microsoft only makes English keyboards for the Surface ATM.

Microsoft bringing out the big guns. Hoping to get 1.75 million sold!

The reason they could port the original to the 360 was because both the processors used PowerPC architecture. The Xbox One uses x86 to accomodate more powerful hardware, meaning that any and all code has to be rewritten to work. Including any games.

4JStudios was explaining how they have to rewrite all Minecraft to get it on the Xbox One (Although since it's also on PC, they can copy SOME code from there, since that is also x86).

But I can see some games being remade on the Xbox One. More the classics. And Maybe even for free if you own the original and can prove it in some way.
