Maybe if Apple didn't get so greedy with Apple One family pricing, people like me would have continued to pay for the service. Their increase caused me to cut my monthly Apple services spending by 2/3.
Don't worry, them now offering 6TB and 12TB storage options made me triple my services spending.

This is because MS is mainly focused on enterprise and B2B while Apple mainly focused on regular customer which is a huge difference.

Apple cant rely on iPhone or mobile forever and they already admitted that.

I didn’t know Microsoft was so close to matching Apple. With all the “Apple is now 3 trillion dollar company blah blah” I thought they were miles ahead. Goes to show how good Microsoft has done lately and how stagnant Apple has become.

Wow... insanity...

I wonder if Apple will do what they can to overtake Microsoft...

Hopefully with Windows 10 EOL, it will become the year of the Mac (Not Linux)

You shouldn't hold any negativity towards Linux. Both macOS and Linux have a UNIX origin. Both born of the same cloth.

Most of the world's websites are powered by some flavour of server-only Linux. The Desktop variety does have some catching up, but isn't it ironic (and not surprising!) that both Linux and Windows are both trying to emulate macOS in order to provide the richest user experience? Apple had it right all along.

I like the new Microsoft that has emerged since the old guard left. Nadella has done well at making MS more open and innovative.

Steve Ballmer was CEO from 2000 to 2014.

Yep, this is why I have both Apple and MS stock, both great outlooks. I miss Windows phone (Ballmer not Nadella) and also think the Surface Pro line could have been handled better, and find Windows 11 and MS Edge way too heavy-handed, but can still appreciate just how far Nadella has taken MS.

The fact that Apple has been outperforming them with a much smaller product and service portfolio should carry some weight. It's not stagnation, just different business focuses.

You can say what you want about M$ but since Nadella is in charge they’re going forward more focused and to me it seems they come out with more software and hardware than Apple ever did. Is it as good as Apple is debatable but at least it isn’t stuck in the pipeline and it’s getting better at a fast pace. I admire Apple with their own processor approach. Further than that it seems Apple is hanging on old success like iPhone etc. Almost every year same form factors are coming out with outrageous pricing. I hope Apple will feel the pressure of their competitors and will come out with better products and will innovate at a faster pace. iPad hasn’t seen much changes, Apple Watch, iMac, MacBooks etc… all same year after year. I understand that you don’t have to fix if it isn’t broken but for a tech company it seems greedy and lazy not to change.

Where is Microsoft's Smart Phone? Oh wait! They do not have one because they killed 2 to 3 times! AI will ultimately end up at the Edge on Smart Phones and Microsoft has no answer for that!

It's probably the AI + Copilot integration; Microsoft is supposedly planning to put Copilot into even the most basic apps like Notepad. 😮

Clearly the answer for Apple is to integrate the rumored new SiriGPT into everything, and I do mean everything. TextEdit? Terminal? There's nowhere you can go where you can be safe from the gentle glow of Siri's all-seeing eye.

(this is meant as a joke but it might happen for real 😅)

Apple can't even fix simple things like the Image Capture app remembering its window size between launches. Once they build a smaller app "that works", they often forget about it for a while. It's rare that they invest energy into apps like TextEdit, Terminal, Keychain Access, Image Capture, and even Finder. The "Get Info" windows are still a terrible experience.

Not at all, I said it is one additional reason why Cook might be shown the door.

You have lagging sales of Apple's core product lines, being late to the AI party, buggy software, Watches that can't be sold.

You've then got what I'm predicting will be a mediocre reception to Vision Pro when it launches next month.

It's becoming increasingly clear there is new leadership needed at the head of Apple.
There is a finite limit to hardware sales, it's not going to grow without a sacrifice. Bbringing in a CEO that promises growth means monetizing what we already own, cutting corners to save on costs over quality. It basically means cashing in and cashing out on brand loyalty.

Microsoft are doing very well in the Enterprise field, the work they've done with Copilot is pretty awesome. It's definitely going to change how people do work day to day. I wonder if Apple will ever complete with Microsoft productivity suite and Enterprise Cloud services for the everyday business

I can't see Apple launching subscription-based cloud services for general usage. It's not in their DNA, and there's already plenty of options in the market. iCloud is their cloud offering, making the cloud "disappear" for ordinary users. No setup required. It Just Works™.

This doesn't really matter.

Then again it's hopefully another push to get Tim Cook out. Time's up.

Why the disdain for Tim? Apple is delivering best-of-breed hardware and software on several fronts. Other companies use them as a template. Just look around. Everything "looks like Apple" nowadays, and that's because of Apple's steadfast commitment. They don't let anyone (not even you) tell them how to run their business or how quickly. Steady and consistent release of iterative improvements, not massive, jarring announcements from year to year.

What is Apple's response to my currently collaborating with 16 people in an excel spreadsheet (doing that right now at work) with full tracking? My computers are a lot more important to me than my smartphone.

I use a Mac at home, and a PC at work. Tools for the job.

I don't care about AI, from any company, including Apple.

I'd be happy if they could get the dumpster fire they call Screentime to work.

Got any examples of them being the same people?
Well, it used to matter to Android fanboys when their CPUs were faster than Apple’s. Now that Apple Silicon A17 is at the top of that list it no longer matters to them. So it just depends on which platform you are a fanboy of. “Mine is faster than yours” is such a teenage nerd attitude to have. It might also be prudent to point out that tech blog comment forums have absolutely no effect or influence whatsoever on markets and sales.

Absolutely, although the reverse is also true since the A and M chips.

As a shareholder of both companies (purchased Apple in 1996 when Jobs returned and Microsoft released Windows 3 in 1990), I've been extraordinarily please with the results of both. the $3,450 I spent on Microsoft is now worth over $600,000. And almost likewise for Apple. And that's not counting the dividends, which are each over $5K/year. Thanks, guys! Keep competing with each other for Market Cap!

Well done and congrats!

Mac revenue is down because people don't want expensive computers without upgradeable memory and hard drives.
iPhone revenue is down because people don't need larger phones with more and more camera lenses.

Apple is suffering from an extreme case of what I'm calling "innovation tunnel vision" which has caused them to loose sight of plain common sense.

Suffering from peak iteration, Apple drip feeding out enhancements at the slowest possible rate. The 15 adverts mention titanium, is that the best highlight you have to shout about?! Don't get me wrong, I bought one as now I don't have to worry about having two cables with me which was more bothersome than it may sound.

Apart from that and a fresh new battery, I notice no improvements day to day over my 11 Pro, if anything it is worse, given how long it takes to focus when taking a close up photo.

That's shocking, considering the substantial cost involved. I have now no intention of buying another for very many years. Good for me and I am sure many others who are now thinking similar. Not so good for company profits, and we know how obsessed Apple is about milking those.
