I recently purchased a MICROSOFT XBox. This could have been you, Apple! 😂

Really, though, at this point this trillion dollar talk is just that…a talking point. How much debt does each one owe and how much do they actually have in outright wealth? I’d imagine both could be a bit more innovative with the numbers they keep flaunting and yet neither seem to deliver much these days.

Gotta love the fanboys

Apple is number 1: congratulations apple, this is amazing

Another company becomes number 1: does it matter?
Why do people assume others are fanboys. Everyone is allowed their opinions, but how much a company is worth doesn't matter. MSFT was always heading past Apple as they have very strong foothold in business and have the only office package software and can cross sell with cloud. They are the crack dealer for businesses of the world

Since by Apple's measure 8GB = 16GB because of their unified architecture, their market cap is actually closer to 6 trillion, not 3. You cannot compare a vertically integrated business to horizontal businesses such as MS. Vertical has AT LEAST twice the real-world value!

:p

Does it really matter?
For the most part, I think it is meaningless. I care more about great customer service, warranty, security and prods integration.
It doesn’t matter.

Honestly, I think Apple had much better products when compared with the competition before the market cap went sky high. The user experience was better when they hardly had any users, imo.

And a few days or weeks from now Apple will overtake Microsoft again. What a non-story.

I said it early, and I'll say it again. Tim Cook is not going anywhere until he is ready.

The board adores him and he has been a goldmine for the company.
Yeah, I simply don't understand those who think Cook is bad for Apple. The stock price itself is up 40% in the past year.

And Microsoft passing Apple, temporarily, and back and forth, does not mean that Apple is in danger of failing.

Who would have thought that Apple's bungling of Siri well over a decade ago continues to plague them to this day that they are falling behind others so much around that space that others are overtaking them in market cap.

I asked Siri what she thought of Microsoft moving ahead of Apple as the biggest company in the world. She answered me with the current time in London, England.

Siri has nothing to do with anything.

This doesn't matter much, except for the fact that everyone knows how Microsoft behaves when they have a big stick. Considering SOny just announced a "Spatial Content Creation System" using that "Spatial" term that's been unique to Apples VR/AR ecosystem I wonder in the SOny HMD works with Macs? Sony and Apple finally on the same team would be huge if it has happened.

Well, the euphoria lasted only a few hours. Apple is once again the largest company in the world. Where’s the article? 🤣
Right! A few other tech sites have updated their articles to show MSFT overtaking AAPL was brief. With about 90 minutes to go in trading, Apple is ahead ~$25B.

I have to say, I've been a Mac user since 87. Even had the privilege of working for Senor Jobs. Windows 11 is such a better experience in many ways. I only miss SpotLight global search and a few apps. Searching for a file within a folder is instant. Ctl-keys are so much easier on the hand than a key in the middle left. It boots fast. Updates in a couple mins, as opposed to the 20 min installs of Mac. File copying is still incredibly faster than Mac, which doesn't make any sense since Apple controls the entire IO bus and MS doesn't control anything. I love OSX, but Windows 11 is starting to win by whiskers.

It doesn’t feel as impactful because Apple, Microsoft, and Google have been trading the top spot back and forth a few times over the past few years.

I'm happy to see both companies do well. Competition is good and both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Mac revenue is down because people don't want expensive computers without upgradeable memory and hard drives.
Nope.

As so often on these forums, the activity of the entire market is being ignored by you.

Worldwide shipments of computers fell considerably after the pandemic boom.

Are you going to blame the fall of computer sales across the board on your assertions about "memory and hard drives"?

And, I hope this doesn't come as a shock to you, but SSDs have replaced hard drives in most systems.

And HP and Dell sell computers for even higher prices than Apple, and most of those systems have the memory upgradeability you claim is important. So was the fall in sales at HP and Dell due to their upgradeability, since apparently memory expansion is what drives sales (according to you)??
