I find it a little hypocritical that Apple casual users are saying all this crap like "Oh Microsoft is ruining it's rep, or that Microsoft is making a fool of themselves...or that Microsoft needs to be more creative and stop copying others" Even though Apple was doing the same thing a few months back with their Apple vs PC Campaign. They were both doing the same thing, explaining the plus side of their products and why they are better.

Honestly if you actually care about your products, then enjoy them and quit acting like premature adolescents who bicker about who has the better Pokemon (can't believe Pokemon is a real word according to Firefox dictionary).

To say that Apple never crashes or it never breaks down is very subjective, yeah if you do casual browsing of the web, or watch a movie then your computer is not going to crash. I've use a Mac Pro 2.66 Ghz 2006 model at work handling HD footage and mini DV. I still have to force quit once in awhile because something froze or is not responding. So to say that all PC's suck because they are unreliable is quite outlandish. No computer is perfect.

The only reason why I am purchasing a mac is to use it for professional uses, FCP. If I could get FCP on a PC I wouldn't even bother spending 1200+$ on a descent spec'd computer.

Also Microsoft isn't being original with its ad campaign is stupid. Technically Apple isn't being original either with using that Ad campaign, think of Politicians. I'm sure any politician has said "this is why I'm better, and this is why he/she sucks". Just allowing that ad campaign to sway you makes you a sheep who follows when told. Did you even put any effort as to see why Apple was better than PC?

I've been using my Toshiba laptop for 3 years now and it's still in working condition. Of course I'm not going to use it for video editing, because it was never designed for that purpose. But I can still scrape out two - three years of browsing the web with it. Which is pretty much what most trendy fanboys do with their Apple.

The only Apple users I can accept, are those who use Apple's capabilities for it's designed usage. Not to make themselves look cooler just because they spent the cash. Look at people who buy from Starbucks.

Haha, sayword eh? Okay rap fan. I trust your opinion.

i do not need all this shiny, blinky eyecandy i just need a simple solution for my daily routine.
Me either, that's why I avoid Windows 7. ;)

I wonder why Microsoft didn't include.. yes you can get Blu-Ray on PCs but not on our own Microsoft Xbox 360.. pwn'd!!
:apple:
Being that XBox is the one piece of hardware which MS actually sells, and is a console most likely to be integrated with a large screen TV, referencing the lack of BD is all the more hypocritical.

"Macs only come in white or silver."

How many varieties of colors do the XBox 360s come in, hmmm?

Seems that once again, they're doing a terrific job at promoting Macs. :)

LOL are the people who wrote that on the MS website retarded :p. I really love the sharing bit LOL, Macs are harder to network, yeah right. hmm all you do in Mac OS X is click little tick boxes. Honestly the people who have wrote that article are so wrong, they don't even mention things like Bootcamp or Crossover/wine etc :p

In Vista at college it took an I.T Tech over 40 mins to setup printer sharing and file sharing. It took all over 30 seconds to do it on the Mac :D

and at the end of the day Microsoft can say windows seven is secure until they are blue in the face. The truth is your going to be way way way safer on a Mac. I've been a Mac user for 13 years now i've never personally heard of anyone getting a trojan, I have seen it online though, but most trojans are not serious when you compare the hundreds of thousands of security threats on windows

I find it strange that the giant with 90 odd percent of the market share is going down the road of "my OS is better than your OS". Apple literally have to fight for each and every new customer. These are the customers who don't know what Macs are, if they are compatible, if they are usable and whatever other opinion has been formed in their minds.

Indeed, I find really weird like Microsoft have lost trust on themselves and start to tell everyone; We are better than a system that most people on earth can't offered it . :D

Windows on the other hand is the "default" OS. The majority of non Mac users I come across professionally almost don't realise that there are other OS's out there, thus they use Windows by default.

These people had born while they hugged a copy of win and their coffin is have Window on the top. LoL :D

The Answer to Question 2 is this:

From the file menu, hit print. In the dialog box that comes up, you should see the word PDF. If you hit that you are presented with the option of saving the webpage as a PDF. I have done it many times.

Hope that helps

The reason I asked that question was that when I was forced to use my Compaq with Windows XP for banking (when my 6-year-old iMac hard drive failed a couple of years ago), selecting Print produced no option to print / save as a pdf file. The options produced really disorganized html pages that looked nothing like the original page.

Of course, dealing with a bank that believes my browser should be Explorer generates some bad pdf pages with buttons showing every option stacked vertically.

Perhaps the answer to my questions assumed I was referring to using Word. What I could not print pdf files for was my internet banking / shopping. Or maybe W7 has corrected the lack of pdf printing.

It seems no person wants to answer the questions I have asked previously about Windoz. Here they are again.

1. How does one make a copy / image of what is on the screen?

2. Is it possible to make a pdf file of a document such as of a banking site?

3. Are files and folders dragged and dropped to move / copy them to another location?

Here's my humble attempt to fulfill your unanswered question Doc! Been using OS X for 5 years now but have been using Windows at work for over 7 (though all have been running XP besides that first year when we had Windows 2000 to deal with *shudders*. At least we got to upgrade from Office 2003 to 2007, which I have never looked back to.)

1)
Windows: Alt+Prt Scn for a selected window or Ctrl+Prt Scr for the entire desktop. This just places it on the clipboard; then you need to open an image editor like MS Paint to paste the image, THEN save it. (Funny thing is I learned this in college rather than work)

OS X: Cmd+Shft+3 for the entire desktop or Cmd+Shft+4 for a USER DEFINABLE area (cross hairs, complete with a pixel measurement, show up letting you drag out a specific area. Note both of these will create and save the image to your desktop with no user intervention. Adding Ctrl to either command will save it to the clipboard a la Windows and can paste wherever you like afterwards.

2)
Windows: Can be done with use of a separate 3rd party program such as Adobe PDF distiller that shows up like a separate printer. Follow a few prompts and hope you got your margins right when you pull up the output file.

OS X: Select the PDF drop down menu in the print dialog and can directly save it from there with a few other options. Comes with an included mini WYSIWYG preview before you even select that.

3)
Windows AND OS X: Using the modifiers (Ctrl, Alt [Cmd], Shift or a combination of them) will let you either move, copy or create a shortcut (alias) of what you are dragging. Too late (read: lazy) to google exactly which combo does what.

Just some quick and not in any way definitive conclusions.

1 - Much simpler, however with more selective control, on OS X; all done at the OS level, no need for a separate built in program.

2 - A few less clicks on OS X, but again, no need for a 3rd party app just to do it

3 - More or less the same on either platform, but with OS X's spring loaded folders, seeing the destination of your drag and drops are a no brainer.

Anyone feel free to add or detract or even ask more questions!

Many of the aspects of the Macintosh operating system are simpler, I will admit that.

But I will also say that Apple has capitalized on the fact that most users are borderline retarded when it comes to anything to do with computers.

A direct quote from my buddy who is a student at a major university: "I got a Mac because it looks sick".

Not to mention the hundreds of people who spout that ************ about Macs being unable to get a virus.

Someone made this point already, Macs are made for people in a specific market. It's my belief that if you are using a computer to type papers and browse the internet, Mac has nothing to offer you, unless you don't mind spending an inordinate amount of money for something that performs as well as a netbook at said functions.

I realize that I may look like a hypocrite as I post this from my Macbook Air, but I didn't foot the bill for this computer, so I take no responsibility for that purchase.

Point blank, if you're a professional with a legitimate use for these computers, more power to you.
If you're the average user, steer clear of Apple's overpriced products.

PC Attributes:

Lack of Simplicity

Resistence to Sharing

Poor Compatibility....

At least they've managed to get one thing right:

Working Hard. :p

Microsoft plotted out their declining relevance and found both cash cows died in 2020.

Live for today!

Here are the six main arguments:

● Macs might spoil your fun.
● Macs can take time to learn.
● Macs don't work as well at work or at school.
● Macs don't like to share.
● Macs might not like your PC stuff.
● Macs don't let you choose.

They dumbed this down from a concentrate of nearly pure FUD! These don't even make sense to any intelligent person.

:p i'll agree with that :D. When we got iMac's in media at college everyone actually enjoyed using the computers :D. Before we had to use two year old HP desktops with only 2 gigs of ram to edit in HD in Premier LOL, they had junky intel graphics too

If there's a Mac version of a program you need, you'll have to buy it again and relearn how to use it on a Mac.

This should help their Office for Mac sales.

This! Just another reason why this nonsense from Microsoft is counterproductive. Telling people not to buy a Mac even though they sell Office for Mac (especially when a new version is being released late this year), and telling people not to buy a Mac when Apple tells it's own customers they can buy a copy of Windows 7 and install it on their Mac.
Emballmer is bringing down the Microsoft curve.

I love Mac errors like "The file cannot be copied because the file cannot be copied", or how about "The file cannot be modified because the file cannot be modified."

Windows 7 just makes sense. Its faster (even on macs compared to osx), its sleeker, its less obtrusive, its intuitive and its more compatible. Its also a helluva lot more powerful. I can do so much more with my OS than Mac fanboys can. Hell, its even easier for me to just maximize a windows to view it at fullscreen. I love the way explorer works compared to macs convuluted version. I like that I can even move my taskbar to be where ever the heck I want. I love being able to drag files to a CD/DVD and simply clicking "burn to disc".

I also love being able to use whatever hardware I want and not having to worry about my OS supporting it. Thats so important to someone who wants speed out of their PC without waiting 6 months to a year for a full system replacement to come on the market. I also think its great how an open ended hardware system creates competition in the market instead of leaving it potentially stale if OSX took over.

Isn't it great that Windows 7 is also very touch screen friendly? Man, who woulda thunk that Windows 7 would be more compatible than a mac for touch screen when Apple created such great devices as the iPad and iPhone.

Also, I love that it doesn't come with iTunes! iTunes blows. I know its a minor annoyance, but its great that not everything on Windows has an "i" in front of it.

If you were to create 2 countries, one for mac, and one for pc, you'd find that even though the pc country outnumbers mac by more than 10 to 1, they would be quiet. We windows users are too busy using our PC's to constantly insult the other. You guys spend most of your time in forums thinking of ways to defend your stupid waste of money so you don't have to feel so bad. Its ok, you made a mistake, your next PC can have windows on it.

And best of all, even though there are vastly more windows fans than mac fans... there are less windows fanboys to deal with than mac ones.

Last, but not least.... I win.

:D i wonder if PC World (The U.K Computer Outlet Store) are in on selling PC's over Macs because when I went look at Mac minis the other year, this guy was showing me really stupid reasons why to buy this horrendous Acer laptop instead :p. He said software costs more & showed me to Quark Xpress & other high end apps, both of which I know cost about the same for PC & Mac. Then I told him how wrong he was, how many macs I own & how long i'be been using them. LOL he looked a tad embarrassed I left & told him he's just lost a sale, so I bought it from the online Apple store instead lol

Obvious troll is obvious.

can you link me to a current virus that I can take a look at? I'd like to look it up.

tip: If I have to authenticate the payload prior to it being dropped on my machine, it's not really a virus. Kinda like how you can't tell a judge someone broke into your house if you let them in.

btw i'm serious. link me to an actual virus and I guarantee you will be propelled into stardom by the media.

Yeah, I remember when I had a 1992 Ford Taurus and switched to a 2006 Pontiac v6 GTS. I'd never go with Ford again. Can you believe that an older product wouldn't perform as well as one a lot newer? The fricking nerve of Ford for not conceiving that their car must be comparable to new cars that are much newer.

The point is that Macs are not immune to viruses. As more users begin to use the Macintosh operating systems I can guarantee you that viruses for this operating system will become more prevalent.

Ok, need help.
My neighbor bought a "premium" laptop (asus) from bestbuy. This laptop was approx $1,400 OTD.
We can't find the standard BluRay Burner that all PC's come with.
No USB 3 ports (this is a brand new PC).
No VGA port to connect his 2001 Dell projector so we need to go buy an adapter I guess.
One of the selling points was "Good battery life Of up to 2 hours and 27 minutes"
He can't create Microsoft Office files to share with the guys at work because Microsoft Office apparently doesn't come with the PC.
It did come with Adobe Acrobat Reader 9.1 preinstalled... so score.

It does have an I7 and is black.

And best of all, even though there are vastly more windows fans than mac fans... there are less windows fanboys to deal with than mac ones.

from my experience.

I only hear the Mac user saying why Macs are better when I hear quotes like this from PC users

"Macs SUX" "Macs aren't popular" "Macs are expensive" & so on

So most mac users like to explain themselves to misinformed PC users using most of the time a valid argument.

This is what i've seen anyway

always the PC users start the argument :p

Fail troll is fail. If you are really a mac-user who doesn't understand that your device has nothing to offer you if using it for typing papers, then you're beyond computer-illiterate. I would say it's "borderline retarded" (your own words, sorry about that) but I used to be a mac-user-basher too so I'll cut you some slack since your experience with macs obviously predates OS X.
