The amount of bull **** on their page is ridiculous.

Macs don't like to share.

At least half the fun of having a computer is sharing the stuff that matters to you with other people. This is harder to do on a Mac.

With a Mac, it's harder to set up secure sharing for your photos, music & movies, documents, and even printers with other computers on your home network
What?

Windows is dying, but it will take inertia many years before most people notice. The office cube will be the last to give up Windows, but that day will come too many years from now except for a few backwards operations that will never change.

This comment will get objected to. I don't care. I'm talking about the long view, and I look ahead. Wait and see.

Couldn't agree more!! OS X is up to almost 4% of all the computers in the world.. Poor Windows is only on 90% of the world's computers. They are toast, MS is DEAD!!! WOOOO HOOO Everybody, now turn and face Cupertino, drop to your knees, and join NebulaClash in our evening prayers to Steve!!!!

Mac vs PC I get. Microsoft Vs Mac, I don't.

Whether it's running on an HP, a home made setup, or a Macbook... what's it matter to Microsoft whats running Windows?
Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to run a campaign along the lines of "Yes, Apple makes nice Hardware, and Windows runs perfectly on it!"
Think of how many first time users/switchers want to have windows on their mac for comfort, and how many businesses this has been a plus for adoption?

Why is Microsoft running ads for Dell/HP/Asus/etc, when an Apple with Windows makes them just as much $$?

The only thing a Windows PC has up on a Mac right now is Blu-ray. I will give them that. Otherwise if you just want a nice, simple, easy to use computer for your home a Mac is the way to go.

Things just don't work the same way on Macs if you're used to a PC. For example, the mouse works differently. And many of the shortcuts you're familiar with don't work the same way on a Mac.

It's true. We use our mouse with our feet. And the shortcuts are so alien to PC users. Instead of the simple Ctrl+C for copy, we have Cmd+C. It's insanity.

I loved that part. Also if you go through their "Laptop Suggester" there's a part where it plays the unmistakable sound of a 68k or PPC Mac ejecting a floppy, while a CD tray is coming out of a refrigerator. Hmm.

Too bad most of the devices Windows 7 is on are crap quality.

When I hear the word "crap" in a post here, it's a pretty good sign that I'm dealing with another mindless fanboy incapable of making a rational comment....

All PC's and MS products are "crappy", "crap", "clunky", and "junky"... Of course, ALL Apple products are "elegant", "delicious", "sexy", and just "gorgeous"..

This is common fanboy lingo and most people using these terms have no idea what they are talking about, they just repeat terms they hear other fanboys use..

Hey spillproof, I bet you "skate to where the puck is going to be" don't you??

I think its great Microsoft is fighting back, but this is pathetic. It's like writing an essay without a plot.

Did a 7 year old write this?

I think its great that Microsoft i finally taking shots at Apple :p, There are lot of positives in when it comes to PC's. I've never understood why I haven't seen it in the past.. If I were to make a PC vs Mac ad It would really make people think :p.. It would be something like this : Core i7 Mac 27" Screen All In One or Core i7 PC 42" LCD Screen :p because believe it or not, you could build a PC with a massive LCD screen and higher specs for less... Only drawback is not all in one.. Or to some Windows 7..

As I've been telling my family members for years... if you don't understand the difference, you'll be much happier on a Mac. If you do understand the type of benefits that come from an open-platform approach to computers, you've already made up your mind.

Most of the arguments made on MS' site really don't apply to the average user... just people who've already decided what they want. Apple should have jumped on the Blu-Ray bandwagon because it's what people think they want... in reality, Blu-Ray is a total mess (I author DVDs and have worked on a number of Blu-Rays for a living... trust me, Sony has already abandoned Blu-Ray. It's a mess and it's on it's way out)

Umm why is Microsoft comparing hardware features of Macs vs Windows PCs? Last time I checked MS was a software company. These ads are an insult to the intelligence of anyone who knows the slightest bit about computers.

And guess what, Microsoft sells copies of windows to people who install it on Apple's hardware! Apple is just another hardware company like Dell, HP, Toshiba, or anyone else. They just happen to include their own OS.

Most popular because Apple has the it factor and all the brats want to look cool

You have that right. Arguably, the kids in college these days are the first generation totally weaned on home computers with equal if not more computer time over watching television. From that, having a computer at home is commonplace and now aesthetics kicks in to make the sale over functionality.

This is very much like the American automotive market of the 1950's where you started to have chrome, fish tales and a other novelties start to make the buying decision over how many cylinders and horsepower. In a way, the current generation of PC Modders with custom cases, lights and overclocking is akin to the "Hot Rodders" of the 1950's.

In an interview a while ago, Steve Jobs commented about Microsoft being successful but having no style. That time may have finally come.

-"Unlike Macs, PCs support touch"
-"Macs mouse works different"

Really Microsoft... REALLY???

I don't even care if they post a site like this, but their arguments are pathetic lol!

Yes because Windows is a very secure OS.

How creative Microsoft you fail at being a company with balls, again. Apple been here and done this already. Maybe next time you can think of something on your own, perhaps?

You grossly overestimate the sophistication of most computer users. There is a group of people keeping the computer section of Best Buy solvent!

As in politics, I don't trust anyone who talks more about the opponent than him/herself. This kind of marketing sucks, it sucked when Apple did it, it sucks when Microsoft does it. If they're going to copy Apple, don't copy the worst aspect of Apple.

Microsoft:

Doomed in the consumer market.

Why is Microsoft running ads for Dell/HP/Asus/etc, when an Apple with Windows makes them just as much $$?

Because Apple isn't locked into long term contracts that forces them to put MS Windows on their hardware like most of the rest are. Someone would actually have to buy a stand alone copy of 7 and who does that? Can't be as many as folks who are just buying new hardware.
