It's okay, wait till they switch back to MacOS when they use Windows 10 (Yes, a HUGE improvement over Windows Vista and 8/8.1 but, let's be honest, the bar was low with Vista and 8) and have a "tabletlaptop" that does neither well...

*I had a Surface briefly and I'd rather have a tablet and a laptop*
*I have a 2016 Lenovo Carbon X1 for work and it's got crappy battery life and Windows 10's updates are fun when they break things*
*Loving my MBPr 2016 that has no issues even though people on here have their panties in a bunch*

I'll keep my 2012 rMBP on life support until the very last moment. It still runs like it did back in 2012, so I'm keeping this until it dies. With 8GM RAM, SSD, and ACTUAL PORTS.... Apple doesn't make anything comparable now. I've never had a computer outside of Apple Car. With this one, I'll keep it for years more if I can, until it can't run what I need it to. Then I'm probably NOT getting another Mac.

Apple has left me, I never left them.

For me any box that is slave to MS OSs is never an option. I'll patiently wait for Apple to build a real MBP again.

From the future...

Luckily I am in a position where I don't need to buy anything at the moment. Thank goodness because if I was, Microsoft would be getting my money instead of Apple.

Thanks Tim, for nothing worth buying.

No reason to get all defensive. Hopefully Apple will learn and make a better product next time.

Maybe. But many people are finding it to be a poor value.
And in my experience, I would bet money they won't.

Yeah, Microsoft is leading now. As someone that loves the Apple ecosystem and has always bought Mac products in the past, I'm struggling to justify carrying on like this and I just don't know where to go or what to buy.

My Mac Pro is something like 5 years old and still feels like a better and more powerful and upgradeable machine than anything offered by Apple since. My 30" Apple Cinema Display is pushing 10 years old now but Apple hasn't released a product that seems like an improvement since. My MacBook Pro is 8 years old and failing and my iPad is four years old and unusable due to slowness now.

I'd like a laptop/ipad hybrid that's good to replace my MBP and iPad. Something like the iPad Pro but that also runs OSX. I want an upgradeable modern Mac Pro. I want a > 30" retina display Apple monitor.

It really feels like Apple don't want me as a customer anymore.

I can see that.
However, I went back to Best Buy to give a try to both the Surface(s) and the new MBP... both were serious disappointments. MS is picking up steam, you can see that they're actively working at changing their own products and being innovative, but the Surface didn't really convince me. The MBP... meh.
If I had to chose, I would chose the Surface.

Could you elaborate on what disappointed you? I haven't played with it yet.

Microsoft has announced November was its best month ever for consumer Surface sales. In a blog post, the company said more people are switching from Macs to Surface devices than ever before following the "disappointment" of the new MacBook Pro, particularly among professional users.

Shortly after the new MacBook Pro launched, Microsoft launched a promotion offering MacBook Pro and MacBook Air owners up to $650 credit towards a new Surface Book or Surface Pro 4. Microsoft also unveiled the Surface Studio in October, and the all-in-one desktop has been met with positive reviews.

Microsoft's Surface Book starts at $1,499, the same price as Apple's new 13-inch MacBook Pro with a standard row of function keys. Touch Bar-equipped models start at $1,799 for 13-inch models and $2,399 for 15-inch models.

Sounds like desperation from Microsoft to me.

Anytime you need to compare yourself to the competition you are already behind.

This is why I'm switching. I knew the day would come, but didn't expect it until at least 2020.

I am not a fan of the new MacBook Pro but isn't the Performance Surface as expensive if not more. A 15 inch MacBook Pro with 2.7GHz, 16GB, 1TB and dGPU of 4GB will cost 3300 and the same specs for a 13 inch surface is also $3300. Not sure how it is less expensive. Am I missing something?
