95%. Its because PC users don't have an orgasm every time Microsoft announces a new product line, or feel the need to defend Microsoft every time they do something questionable.

I'm sure you have missed the numerous Microsoft defenders on Engadget, neowin, and WindowsSuperSite and also the Microsoft trolls on this forum.

So Microsoft is going to dig into its deep pockets and open stores next to Apple stores. Only the Microsoft stores won't be selling anything?

Did I get that right?

When I worked retail selling computers and software, guess who had the biggest display of their products?? Yes, your right! Go to any Best Buy etc., and there are rows of MSs products.

Makes NO sense to me!

I love how inept the trolling is too. Consider his insult.

Yeah, why would that be? :D

Two of those sites are news sites, I didn't see any MS fans on those going zomg this will totally fuxxor Apple. The first is a link to a google search. If you search for something on google of course you will find lots of examples of that term. The 4th is a facebook group, and again I didn't see anyone going "This will totally fuxxor Apple."

If Microsoft plans on partnering with a few choice PC and Smartphone makers, it might work. But the true advantage that Apple has is that Apple stores showcase almost all its own products - hardware AND software. It's a completely immersive experience. Aside from the Zune and XBOX 360, there's not much original hardware...Microsoft is first and foremost a software company. Now if Microsoft made its own PCs and Smartphones, that would be real competition.

That sound going by overhead? That was the point. I think you missed it.

So its either going to be identical to Best Buy but better designed, or its only going to sell Xboxes and Zunes. And no one buys zunes. Sounds like a good idea.

Is anyone else besides me imagining MASSIVE lines....not to buy stuff, but to get their stuff fixed :p

I almost worked for an Apple store, but decided that it wasn't the right time economically. I HIGHLY doubt that MS will be able to come even close to what Apple has setup. I would apply for said MS store just to sabotage them into failure.

I can't wait to go to their store and play with Word.

For me, I can't wait to go to their store and play with their system registry, run Anti Virus and Anti Spyware! Oh Boy this is going to be sooooooo much fun!

Maybe if IM lucky I can experience tons of the BOD! Yeah Baby Sweet!

Man they must have money to burn and what a dumb ass business model!

I should pose as a customer and walk in and be like. "Okay, you have 30 seconds to convince me to get a Zune over an iPod." Then watch as the salesperson in the Microsoft store looks at the cue card on what to do and starts chanting in a Steve Ballmer-esque manner: "Developers, developers!, developers!!, developers!!!!"

I realize this makes no sense.

And you missed my point, none of those sites comes close to the sort of fanaticism I see here on these boards or on the even worse Appleinsider, or the semi-religious roughlydrafted.

PC users don't see their PC as a "lifestyle choice", they just use what gets the job done and which is in their price range.

Yeah, god forbid we view a device around which we spend a lot of our time and on which we store personal stuff like email, photos and movies with any kind of eye toward having it fit in with our lifestyle.

That's just so supremely logical. I'm going to start calling you Spock.

Guess that just proves the old idea that you don't notice things you aren't really interested in seeing. Dig a little deeper on the Web. You'll find the Windows fanatics. They're not that hard to pick out.

Anyway, Live long and prosper.

Now who's the one throwing weak insults?

Oh I know that Windows has its fanatics, they just don't seem to make up the majority of the userbase. Talk to someone who uses a Mac and 90% of them will not shut up about Windows and how bad it is, and how great their Mac is. They're so insecure about their choice that they keep needing to justify it to anyone in earshot. Nearly all the Mac users I've met were such stuck up pricks they would barely talk to you if you weren't wearing the right shoes.

Not a retail store??? Huh, I wonder why... They have sooo much to sell, Windows, Zune, Xbox, um, umm, ummm.... No, wait... That's about it. I guess I forgot Microsoft is a software company lol!

Can't wait to see one of these stores. :p

MS Genius Bar

I can't wait to see Microsoft set up their version of the Genius Bar. The line would be around the block with users with problems. They would have to run it 24/7. This concept would give Microsoft a "face" - someone for users to vent their anger directly to. This "face" has never existed before, at least not directly to Microsoft. This could be a potentially dangerous situation. :apple::apple::apple:

I come to these forums only to realize that it's really only the highly opinionated that dwell in them. And from time to time, I laugh at how this draws parallels to ever 4chan...

Insanely gung-ho people with a predictable response pattern
A Place to voice ones opinion with a childlike fervor....
"humor"

Ahh.... can you smell it?

So glad you enjoy the fresh air here! Smells like Apples! MMMMMmmmm good!
