Sure Smartphone Wars.

It's like Apple is the U.S.
Google Android is like the U.S.S.R. - Google TV will be their Chernobyl.
And M$ is like the U.K. - They used to rule the world, but now they're just the small island that is slowly losing relevance.

Try to look beyond your blinkered "U S A is the greatest" viewpoint, and perhaps you won't sound like a dumb redneck.

The 19th century belonged to Britain. The 20th century belonged to America, no debate there. But the 21st century will belong to Asia.

"When Microsoft first showed us Windows Phone 7, we knew it was going to be a winner," AT&T CEO Mobility and Consumer Markets Ralph de la Vega said at the event. "It was different than anything we've seen."

Folks we here at microshi t have invented this new thing called fried chicken.
You take a chicken and fry it!

Ballmer: "Hey... here's an idea. Lets flood the market with our new mobile OS, I say - at least on 10 different devices, and call them: "Bloatphones".

The Public will have instant gratification because it's a product coming directly from us." Genius.

Well said and 100% true.

How funny you had a dig at Brits in particular. Is it because of me teeth guv'nor?
Ha ( it's ok I'm a a Brit).

Apple keynotes must have a subliminal hypno thing going on. I mean I have a mac and an iPhone but Blinkers didn't come with mine.

God, a lot of you people are dense. Your hate for a company is clouding your ability to recognize a good product when you see one.

Apple is the big supercompany and Microsoft is fading away?

Haha. Oh, I'm sure they're terribly worried with their 90% market share in OSes. Ever think that maybe, just maybe, 90% of customers prefer PCs because they're better?

I own an iPhone and an iPad, but you people really, really make me hate owning any Apple products and being generally associated with your kind. You notice how all other communities dismiss you as mindless fanboys? You ever figure that maybe they're not just trolling, that maybe you guys really are that annoying?

I kept this inside for all this time but the endless dumb replies in this thread pushed me over the edge. My iPhone is going to be the last Apple phone I buy; my iPad the last Apple tablet I buy. There's nothing wrong with the products, but there's a big problem with you people.

The 21st century will belong to China.

People are dense from each side, really. In the tech-world, there's nothing dumber than the smartphone wars, IMO. iPhone, Android, RIM, Windows, you name it, the fans of whichever platform are all equally annoying.
That being said, you purchased products, if you're happy with them, you would be even more crazy to dump them because of some troll-ish tweens on an internet forum :D.

Let's just take the 300,000 million people in the US.. How many would you say have HD TVs, Cable TV and broandband are switching to on demand HD?

wow, 300 Billion people in the USA!? That's incredible... if each one bought my iPhone app for 59 cents...

How is it a 'different kind of phone'?

iOS, Android and RIM seem to fill three categories, with minimal overlap.

MS turns up late and has to shoehorn itself in there somewhere. But where?

Please, Enough of the nonsense that competition in smart phones is good for consumer blah blah. In reality there is no real competition going on. The carriers are in full control of the offers in the marketplace, what models are sold, which ones get promoted in the stores, which ones are sold full price, which ones are given away etc. Windows 7 will succeeded simply because the carriers want a third alternative to android OS. They will Never allow one company (specially one as powerful as google) to control the mobile os market. They will promote now win7 as a more polished trusted smartphone with Office support over the confusing android brand offerings.

woohoo sanity in this thread. Unfortunately it's going to be lost in the sands of **** that this thread is comprised of.

Oh, please. It's the same for everything. We have the fandroids, the Playstation fanboys, the Xbox fanboys, the Microsoft fanboys etc etc. All of them are that annoying.

Apple fanboys tend to stay on their on turf most of the time though. But just look at this: this article got a rating of (177 Positives; 227 Negatives), while the iPad got the rating (221 Positives; 410 Negatives).

Microsoft is run by idiots now. Any dev that wants to design an app for windows phone 7 is going to be forced to develop for the lowest common denominator to support at least HALF of that sausage-fest of phones. OMFG! A phone has a gyro? Only 2% of the market has that specific phone? It won't be developed for. Pulling numbers out of my hat, but you get the picture. I believe it's the reason apple insists on selling only one phone, plus it's cousin, the iPod Touch.

They look nice enough. :) Its good to see MS back in the game - hopefully it'll help push Apple to new heights. Will be interesting to see what happens with Android & Symbian now..

This is the first product from Microsoft in about a decade that's worth taking a look at. I'm sorry, but Google's Android platform is going nowhere. Since XP, Microsoft has been sitting on their butt doing practically nothing. Vista was a bust. W7 fixed Vista problems. And they let WM6 slide into oblivion. WP7 is something I'll consider but I'll probably end up with an iPhone because of the apps and the quality. WP7's GUI is very interesting and unique. Android still looks like complete garbage and the apps are also of that caliber. WP7 doesn't have basic stuff like copy/paste but the good thing is that they are making the foundation really solid, much like Apple. The UI is the first important thing in a smartphone. And then it's apps. The last thing that will push me towards the next iPhone is that the iPhone simply has better hardware and better software (number and quality of apps) of any smartphone platform, for now. In the future, I see Android slipping in favor of WP7. WP& seems more consumer friendly and Android seems more like a tech geek's dream. I hope Microsoft doesn't let WP7 slide much like they let WM6 slide.

agree 105% with this comment

i like the WP7 GUI aswell, i don't know how how it feels on real, but it is already much nicer than android and enough different from iOS. don't understand the critics about multitasking and copy-paste, multitasking was missed but tolerate on the iphone until 2010, but on WP7 is a mess if you don't have it... anyone who has an iphone knows that multitasking is not a killer spec.

agree aswell that android is going the technicfreaks-way and GHz onanists, also is ok if MS move to the usability side. my opinion is that WP7 is a great start and i would like to play with it.

and it would help very much if windows finally starts making family licenses standard for the Windows7, so anybody can massive change the systemsalad of xp and vista and just update. the licensing mess is a problem with microsoft.

Can I stream my iTunes to this?

Don't think you can use iTunes to sync with anything but apple products. Could be wrong.

I agree and competition is always healthy. There are market segments where the iPhone simply cannot compete at where not everyone in this world can afford an iPhone 4 so it will be interesting to see the price points of these Win7 phones when they do come out.

Personally I don't think the Win7 phones were designed for me. I don't need super fat icons that make the home screen look cluttered (but the GUI does look pretty slick), Zune is not in the UK and I don't play XBox. Looks like MS are pitching this at the younger end of the market and I'm just getting old(er).

Having choice is ALWAYS a good thing.... period!

Two excellent points.

Microsoft has witnessed the success Apple's had turning young buyers into rabid fanboys. Xbox has a huge following which if properly capitalized upon, may help MS significantly.

Choice is the very bedrock of commerce.

Haha. Pretty weird that your enjoyment of owning something is tempered by some anonymous people on the other side of the world who happen to own the same.

I'm thinking of getting rid of my Hotpoint washing machine. The people on that forum are real d*ks.
