Fair to say that is not the standard of design we are use to on these forums!
It looks like an "homage" to Steve Jobs, and his NExT slab...just a whole lot "slabbier."

No manditory xbox live. This console looks cool, but I don't feel like spending another $500 on xbox live over its lifespan.
Not everyone can A) afford or B) justify plonking down $1k plus for a couple of game consoles.
... PS: Apple was also interested in the original company behind Kinect, it was based in Israel, Microsoft beat them to it a few years ago. I would have loved Kinect technology in Apple TV.
PS4 it is... so disappointing, this Xbox One.
Looks good to be honest. But I'll continue using my much better gaming PC thanks.
Hardware is terribly dated looking with that grill.
Jeebus! That might be the ugliest console I've ever seen.
Apple needs to get on the ball... they need an App Store for Apple TV and a way for the Apple TV to work with live television including providing guide data, control of your media stack, and internet based content along side live TV.
I don't think Apple's products are bad, but it sure seems like they let up off the gas pedal about 2 years ago... I am not pointing to the death of Steve, I have no idea why this is happening but 2013 is shaping up to be a dud (no significant new Mac designs, a iPhone 5 variant not rework, a new iPad that is thinner, a retina iPad mini, a delayed "watch" that won't likely make in 2013, and nothing seemingly on the horizon for Apple TV other than a few extra "channel" choices on the menu.) Everything rests with iOS 7. We will see.
Xbox One seems more of a preemptive move against iTV and Google TV 3.0.
Having said that, I think Microsoft may be making one huge mistake: Pricing. Microsoft has not revealed how much Xbox One is going to be, but I suspect it will be around $299 or more. In order to compete with mobile and tablet, Microsoft and Sony need to be more price conscious and offer a strip down version (with smaller storage, no optical drive, no game controller) for around $99.
Anybody else think it looks like a big VCR?
