Hi I'm a PC!

I'm a PC used to be. Me and my PC go fishing and hunting together. We knit, we washed dishes, we do laundry and sometimes we make love. How about you what you and your PC used to do...?

People should really stop trying to come up with their own "suggestions" …

confused

how is it gona make me wanna buy a pc.. . . .:confused:??

. .. .wait a minute~~~...
... it's like microsoft coming up with an solution to expose with 3D flip:p. ....
"I'm a pc and I'm a human being"... makes mac user sound like they are abnormal or aliens ??

"i'm a mac and i'm from mars".... ?? it doesn't make sense, OF COURSE YOUR AN HUMAN BEING, WHAT ELSE CAN YOU BE ???:eek:

I'm a pc and mac user as well, they both have their strong points but to be fair. .. . .

The point is, the mac advert was there to exploit the overall general feeling of a normal pc user... ...

Most people are frighten and confused by viruses and adware .. .. what heck is it ??

Therefore installing as many software as much as possible incase you do the "deadly virus"
It's the constant fear of virus that deter pc user to mac.... ...

~~~~Most people don't know that there are many background programs opened on windows therefore slowing your computer to a halt...
So mac just give an alternative for freedom against virus and carefree using of a computer and it still run as fast as the day you got it without caring for it.
Thats all mac is selling,
So microsoft, first sort out the problem and let your computer run as fast as the day you got it.
But there is no way to get rid of virus really LOL
that's because "human beings" uses it so it's the biggest target for viruses unlike "marsian." we ALL ALIENS LOL
So fighting the sterotype is not gona turn heads because we all know everyone uses pc cause more than 90% of computer users uses it, theres no way you couldn't notice that at all. So back to my question as a marketing point of view, how is it gona make people wanna buy a pc and build confidence on it ??
seconding
I do agree.. ..microsoft sounds like they are hurt and they are admitting they have problems by doing an ad to target mac ad. If you don't have problems ,why do an advert to speak for yourself ??
Pause the madness ! :) It's a political style Ad.
I think most people here are missing the point of this Ad.
What this ad isnt:
The marketing strategy was an not attempt to out wit Apple Ad's, nor was it an attempt to be funnier. Heck it was even an direct attempt to sell more PC's or tell you why they are better.
What this ad is:
It takes a page right out of a political campaign race. PC has been getting smeared by Apple for months right? Well if the Ad tried to defend itself directly it would seem too weak and leave the viewer with nothing more than "i guess i have to choose which side to believe".
Instead, this Ad makes a very broad attempt to convince most PC users that Apple is basically saying "if you're a PC your a piece of ###", and you shoud be offended! . Quite frankly I think the ad succeeds in doing just that.
Edit: also if you are strictly a Mac user watching this ad then you won't get it unless you remain objective. This ad makes an attempt to woo viewers who have a PC's at home. So if you are a PC user and you see this Ad it may effectively appeal to you, and try to convince you that Apple is the enemy for thinking you are dirt.
The ad was funny, though at this point, nothing's stopping me from getting my first Mac as a graduation gift! :cool:
It isn't the purpose of this ad to tell people that PCs are better than Macs. Can't any of you people remember that is just the second phase? They're putting out different messages for every phase so that in the last phase, they can finally directly counter Apple's ads without sounding too weak or desperate.
And yes, Apple's ads annoy the hell out of me. They're funny, but they can be a bit too condescending or haughty. And they're a direct provocation to hackers to test out OS X's security (which is far from perfect and is mostly successful in defending against malware because of smaller market share).
Devoid of originality
The MS response to the OSX -> the oddly similar Vista. The MS response to the iPod -> the oddly similar Zune. I'm sure they are hard at work on an iPhone "killer", a product they will describe as superior on to the original in every way. The thing is, they are always second to market. These ads are more of the same. "Hey those Apple ads are really working, we need to counter this." So, what is their response? An ad campaign that is oddly similar to Apple's ads. 1) This shows a sad lack of creativity, and 2) it serves to remind people of the original Mac ads. Worst of all, they forgot to mention WHY I SHOULD WANT TO BUY THEIR PRODUCT. That's what happens when you spend too much effort responding to/copying the other guy.
It's a lot more direct this time. You don't need to be a computer nerd or historian to understand all the subtle meanings of all the characters and interactions. It just boils down to there are a lot of Windows users everywhere. You don't need to fit into a stereotype but Windows lets you do what you want.
Owning a PC doesn't put you into a stereotype. It just means you own a computer with an inferior operating system. I didn't become magically cool when I switched to Mac but I can tell you I'm a lot less frustrated than I was before.
So no, these ads do nothing for Microsoft's reputation of making crummy products. I don't want Windows on my computer, I don't want Windows on my phone (I think I'll be buying the T-Mobile G1 next week actually), I didn't want an inferior next-gen disc system supported by Microsoft (HD DVD) so I supported Blu-ray, and I certainly didn't want a video game system from Microsoft with a 70% + defective rate [ahem, Xbox 360] and so I have a PS3.
While these ads are better than the Seinfeld ones, they still aren't as good as the Apple ads.
I'm sorry that you have that opinion of Windows. I've had nothing but a great time being a Windows user. :D
"I'm a PC" Ads Created on a Mac!
Turns out that the "I'm a PC" ads were created on a Mac using Adobe Creative Suite 3.
Found out about this here. Thought that you'll would think its pretty ironic.
Oh the irony...what did you expect?
I like it! :D
Vista still sucks though, and I'm still laying down $1500 in the Apple store.
To bad they decided to lay down 300 mil on an ad compaigne instead of fixing Vista sooner.
Ah well.
I'll enjoy watching Leopard eat Vista for breakfast.
Then get stomache cramps and poop on the M$ building in a form of liquid poo.
:p
It is ironic, but Microsoft didn't make the ads and they have no control over what software or hardware their ad company uses.
An ad concept for Apple:
Scene: Ad agency account executive (Fred) escorting Bill Gates look-alike through the halls of an ad agency. They walk up to a door marked “TOP SECRET: Microsoft Ad Campaign Team”.
Ad exec Fred: “…And this is where the magic happens. These are the guys who actually put together those great commercials for Microsoft.”
Gates wanders in shakes a few hands and stops dead in his tracks, starring at at a macpro hooked up to an apple display sitting on one of the desks. He looks stunned. He looks around and notices every workstation has a macpro or a 24” iMac.
Gates: "Say, Fred, I notice that all the computers in this room are Macs…."
Fred: "Oh, Bill, I’m sure we have some PC’s in here…."(scans the room, sees none).
Fred leans over to an account guy at a desk, and whispers “Sam, we do have some PC’s in here, don’t we?”
Sam: (looking sheepish) whispering to Fred so that Gates can not hear: “Actually, we don’t. Used to, but we got rid of them. They just didn't work well enough for us.”
Fred to Gates: “Bill I understand that all these computers are going to be replaced by PC’s soon and these guys can’t wait to get them, Right guys?”
Several ad account guys say, “uh, yeah, that’s right, Fred”. “Can’t wait!”
Bill: (looking uncomfortable, recognizing crapola when he hears it) “Uh, OK. Well, lets move on”
Fred escorts Bill out the door. Camera remains on the door as muffled, uproarious laughter is heard from behind it… Scene fades to black and the apple logo appears.
Wait! You mean ad/creative agencies use Macs?! ZOMG!@@&ELEVEN!!!
Apple uses Windows in their stores to ring you out, as well as Windows Mobile for activating iPhones. THAT MEANS MACS MUST SUCK!!! (not)
Wow, you would have saved us all a lot of time if you had just started with "I own a PS3." Then we could have just skipped the rest of your zealot rant. Apple had a whole generation of iBooks with defective logic boards, not a single one was spared from *certain* death. And this is a $1,000 product we're talking about. iPod batteries, defective power cords, etc. etc. etc. That means Apple must suck in your book, right? And no sane person in the world would even suggest that the PS3 comes close to what the Xbox offers, both in games, the connected experience, and as an entertainment hub.
News flash, most of the services, tools, products, and goods that you consume are powered/made possible by PCs and Windows, thanks to the incredibly successful developer platform that Microsoft developed. Being "a superior OS" is not all about a nice easy to use UI, which is essentially what Apple does well. "Superior" can be many things to different people, so try to be a little less intolerant, a little less stuck up, and a little less elitist. That's actually what these ads are about.
What amazes me is the people on here that don't grasp that in the apple ads, on the surface yes the actors are representing the physical devices, but the psychology of the ad is that they are representing their various users. The whole point of the ads is that if you use windows, the world sees you as a bumbling, out of touch, not very attractive person that the cool people will laugh at.
Thus the Microsoft ad is spot on in defending its user base by saying "Lots of people use Windows, including cool people"
