You're literally saying they shouldn't do this because it would hurt their focus on making as much money as humanly possible in spite of everything else. Apple used to be consumer-focused ... which is why they got to where they are in the first place. They can't update it and have it hurt sales of the iPhone X and 8 phones. It would cost them too much money and not make it to 1 Trillion if they updated the iPhone SE. The only logical decision is to treat the iPhone SE like they do the Mac Mini / Mac Pro / iPod Touch / iPad Mini.
The SE is already on the level of the iPhone 6s, just one notch behind the 7. It would be silly to update an already long-in-the-tooth phone just to give it a slightly-less-old chip.
Unfortunately, the SE as it stands is still good enough for Apple to sell for a third year, just at a lower price point again.
Also a notch behind the X, right?
I would like to see the C form factor back; that very square model is just uncomfortable. Do a C like unapologetically plastic 2, but make it worthy. Windows Phone is on the way out and I still don't care for Android. A new cheaper iPhone with a bit of C fun and SE build quality, and headphone jack, would be cool to see.
I don't know where your hate is coming from, but from my memory this guy definitely has scored much higher than 5%. Perhaps, you should look up all his analysis and make a statistics if you think he's less than 5% correct? Last year, he correctly predicted iPhone X (he called it "8" at the time) will completely remove Touch ID and feature a bezel-less display. Older statistics, if you are being lazy, could be found in the links below:

I think they're talking about more than just money -- need the bandwidth of all kinds of technicians, I'd imagine, not to mention the availability of components, contractors' production lines. You have to assume these resources are committed well in advance because nobody wants an idle factory or an idle worker.Wow, resources is one thing I didn't expect apple to lack.
Fascinating! Thanks for stopping by this thread about the iPhone SE to let us all know that!I'll stick with the X or OLED X Plus have no use for a se model.
I know I would gladly upgrade from our 6s to that new SE if it meant a sensible size (3.5-4"), Touch ID and a A11, regardless of the price.Makes sense - stick in an A11, updated camera and 2nd gen TouchID and get it out the door. The whole point of the SE was that because it reused the iPhone 5s frame it had very low development costs so thinking Apple would 'develop' a new phone to be the low-end didn't seem right. I'm sure it's possible that they could make the SE2 using spare iPhone 6(s) bodies and screens, but this might pull too many people away from the high end phones.
Absolutely this. Improved networking, processing and mics for Siri, and camera improvements, are the 2 things I want in phone upgrades, but these alone are not worth £699. Everything else that makes the iPhone 8 £699 is what I want an iPad for: a brilliant display.
AirPods, Watch and Siri are amazing for me. The iPhone is an increasingly unnecessary step between Watch and iPad. Perhaps I’m the perfect candidate for an iPhone Plus?
Retractions may be common for a ventriloquist dummy of the Apple Board - but only in private timeIf I remember correctly, Ming-Chi Kuo is the same source who stated that the shrinking delivery times for the iPhone X was not an indication of weak demand. Does he do retractions or does he just move on?
hes normally right no?Why does this guy keep getting quoted as a reliable source. Every time I read one of these articles the guy is wrong or completely absurd. He might get 1 out of every 20 prediction right. MacRumors would be better off quoting one of us.
