Unprecedentally, just released MacBook Air is already on sale (-100...150$) at B&H Photo. Sounds like Apple is starting to realize the limits of price rising policy. Good start, now give us BOGO on iPhone XR and someone may even buy it.

You realize that Apple didn't reduce the price right? But let's say you are right, all Apple has to do is drop say 10% and their sales would skyrocket to even higher record profits. Well that's the easiest problem in the world to solve if it is indeed the right solution. Other companies have to strategize and put real effort into selling more because they don't have that level of price control.

Apple has a ton of options even if the worst case scenarios are remotely true. I am involved with AAPL because I believe they have some smart people that do nothing but study this and can make better decisions than I would. I imagine if I ran AAPL for more than a few hours I would manage to do nothing more than destroy it. I would probably crap my pants somewhere in between that.

Apple wants to be a luxury brand, judging by the continuous price increases. Total sales of iphones will go down. Very curious if/how this strategy will affect total profit and revenue

Also people realize what would happen to the stock price if they slashed prices right? It isn't like Wall Street would rejoice that AAPL made the right move for their customers and deliver an affordable phone. It would be massive sell offs as this is the end of AAPL. Wall Street isn't charitable that way. Apple did adjust prices on the first iPhone so they are capable of doing it should they so choose.

B&H Photo is Apple authorized reseller. There is a reason why they did not offer such discounts before. It's because Apple sets the pricing.

My hands are big, but I still have no idea how anyone could think the XR is too big. Ever since I got my iPhone 6 Plus, I’ve never been able to go back to anything smaller.

My launch 7 Plus is starting to show signs of wear and tear and I’d consider replacing it with the 8 Plus over the XR any day, and that’s not even accounting for price. And as much as I want an XS Max, the PWM is too much for me.

He’s right about Huawei, too. Both their notebook and smartphone lineups are excellent right now. One of the only companies who might be able to turn me away from Apple.
I thought about getting an XR until I went and saw it and realized that using it one handed would basically be impossible and by the time I put a case on it fitting it in the front pocket on my pants would be doable but a bit much. I don't need a giant screen (I'm surrounded by powerful computing devices with larger screens all day at work and at home and just need something fairly portable for phone calls, text messages, email on the go and music in the car. I ended up getting an 8 and it's probably more than I need.

Uh-oh. Almost looks like the XR is going to be a repeat of the iPhone 5c. I thought people loved phablets?

Except that Kuo said the same thing about the iPhone X and was dead wrong, along with most other gloom and doom analysts.

Why in the world would you say you can't compare future guidance to past actual results?

Apple is guiding Q1 2019 revenue to be between $89B and $93B. That would be a range of 0.8% to 5.3% growth over the actual results last year.

Thank you!

He is not willing to accept anything negative about Apple. Even if the data came from Apple.

What part about comparing actuals to guidance not making sense to compare are you missing? I know where you got 3% and it's utterly meaningless since $91B is fiction until reported.

If guidance is useless, perhaps you should talk to Tim or Luca and convince them not to report guidance.

Since they will no longer report unit sale, they might as well forget about guidance too. ;)

They're $200 off at Micro Center.

Why are multiple people calling the XR fragile or the most breakable phone ever when several Youtube videos have proven otherwise?

These supply chain rumors are usually incorrect, either good or bad. Also, I think XR is the best value phone Apple released this year and it will sell very well. It is clearly superior to the iPhone 8+ and it is released at a cheaper price. Compared to the XS it is $250 less, but if you need 128GB of storage, than you are actually saving $350 + the tax on that additional amount. XR has the best battery life out of any iPhone and it isn't really missing anything essential most people would want.

I personally bought the iPhone X last year, and it has been the cheapest iPhone I've ever bought, because for the first time, I didn't care to buy a new iPhone this year. :D Everyone is still sour about Apple not reporting numbers, and they are doing this because they can afford to. They have a massive buyback program, and they will buy on this dip than beat the estimates by a healthy margin as usual in the holiday quarter.

Not only is is an inferior product, but it costs almost as much. I have no idea why anyone wouldn't spend a little more if they are already spending at least $750 for this half baked XR to get a much better XS or XS Max. Apple is trying to trick people into thinking this phone has a better screen than an LCD by calling it "Liquid Retina" but people are not falling for it. It will fail almost as bad the 5c did.

Ive had the X, XSMax and now the Xr. I returned both of those (and a few others trying to find an acceptable screen), but I'm sticking with the "half baked" Xr. If I'm gonna give up the home button (I've been using an 8 plus), the Xr fits the bill for me perfectly. I never used 3D Touch, don't really need the dual cameras, and don't have to put up with a crappy, yellow, color shifting OLED screen. I can one hand type better on the Xr than the Max too, because the keyboard is slightly narrower. It also fits in my pocket a little better the the Max. I could go on...

Those are just some reasons why I wouldn't "spend a little more". I make plenty of money to afford the Max, but I just don't think its a good value over the Xr.

A bit late to the party, but I think it's basic consumer psychology. First, the iPhone XR is not cheap at all. If one is paying such amount of money, why would I not pay more to get the iPhone XS/Max? Nobody wants to spend a lot of money just to get an inferior* or perceived-as-inferior product.

*as compared with iPhone XS

I wanted a new 5C version for a long time, and i'm still waiting for it. Why doesn't XR has a plastic back like 5C? And why is this "cheaper" phone 850 Euros in Germany? What is cheap about that? I don't know, never before did i wanted to try an Android Phone, but One Plus 6T for 550 Euros is not that bad looking.

And before i would buy an XR, i would rather buy XS, even if it's 300 Euros more expensive, but it just looks so much better then XR.

less than 100. Just wondering why there hasn't been any news stories or independent investigation into Apples flagship phone causing headaches? Probably because the issue affects so few people that, while unfortunate, it is not a big deal.

there actually are some stories about it, just have to google it

And I have no idea how anyone could think the 7/8 size is too small. Pocketabilty and one handed operation are ten times more valuable to me than screen real estate. It’s almost like different people value different things...

Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that most people have two hands?
