How is selling 70 million iPhone XR units deem it a failure? Maybe it won’t be a smash hit but it’s by no means a failure. Considering it’s 90 percent of an iPhone XS Max at 350 cheaper it seems like a win for ......70 million customers.

Exactly this......the XR is a massive upgrade from a 6 or 7 series phone. I paid $749 for a 64GB iPhone 6S in 2015. Now I get an XR for that same 749 and it’s a massive upgrade in every way. Specifically all screen, very very long battery life and insanely breathtaking camera. Everyone who’s seen my photos including portrait mode has been blown away as well.

not a failure, but stocks go up on higher profits and not cutting estimates

Sorry but you are catching a falling knife.
Based on what? The entire market selling off? Apple is one of the cheapest stocks in the s&p, particularly when you consider their revenue and EPS growth.

You, like everyone else, has no idea what stocks will do day to day.

I do know Apple is growing EPS at 40%, revenue at 20% and has a fantastic cash generating business that will be worth more over time. Higher EPS = higher stock prices, eventually. Don’t get caught up in a month or a year of selling. Apple is still up big this year.

I compared the XR to the 8 plus in store.

The XR screen is a disgrace.

They have the manufactures of the 8 plus screens already making high PPI LCD for four years. How pathetic they went back under 400PPI for a new model. Shameful.
Can you see the difference 8 inches from their screen? If you always look at your phone closer than 8 inches, it won't be good for your eyes.

This is a swing buy on my part. If it climbs to $200 i will sell. If it climbs above $195 and can not reach $200 I will set a trigger for $195. If it goes down from $192.80 i will consider buying more.

At $1920.80 it is a good value I mean I will only sell my latest shares at those prices not the entire thing.

Another reason estimates are cut is due to the premature death of the notch with notchless competition coming out. The ZTE Nubia X is by far the most innovative and interesting solution out for notchless phone with dual screen and side fingerprint scanners and priced less than iPhone Xr.

It's Samsung that is sweating. Not apple. Long live the notch.

said this two weeks ago I expect it to be 165-180 within 6 months.
Who cares? Did you short it big? If not, you’re just throwing out meaningless predictions.

You just threw that out as a reason. No one even knows if iPhone sales are impacted by this nonsense guess from Kuo, let alone why.

The freaking Nubia X is not realistic competition for iPhone unless it starts running iOS. These silly gimmick designs are more competition for other phones running Android than Apple.

Again, no one but Apple knows how iPhone is doing and all sales data has been nothing but positive from Apple. Apple sold MORE iPhones in 2018 than 2017 at far higher prices. They don’t need huge unit sales row then with their pricing power and shift to services.

The people that threaten to short or don't even own stocks do not even know you can't just sign up to Ameritrade and short it. It takes awhile to be approved.

I hope they do short it...just more people to get squeezed and fuel to make AAPL go higher.

Earnings win in the end and Apple is doing that. I’d never sell unless the facts change in the data. Simply too good of a business.

I don't know if this was posted already, I read an article on Google just awhile so that says the supplier that makes the Face ID parts for their largest customer, had cut back orders for the coming quarter. In their last earnings statement, they listed Apple as their biggest customer. This makes at least three claims now.

We speak the same language.

No wonder! The XS is too big, too heavy und much too expensive. The XR is much too big, much too heavy und too expensive. Both are much, much too damageable, when falling down.

I am waiting and waiting for a desirable XR-Min, which is as solid as the SE was. My SE fell down several times without any damage. Best iPhone ever. And no, I don't like cases.

I totally agree with this. We need an SE2! You know the current phones are too thick when the iPad Pro is thinner.

My problem with the newest batch of phones is that they're too thick and too heavy. I would love an SE2; I don't need a case for it and I barely notice it in my pocket. Maybe if the newer phones were thinner and lighter I'd be tempted for the extra screen space. Maybe one day they'll get there but I'm holding on to my dollars until the SE2 or a thinner/lighter XS.

I’m good with it. I love Apple but I hope this drives the message that they’ve spiked prices almost double on iPhones and people are saying “no”.

I’m still sticking with Apple should mimic their iPad line:

iPhone Mini: All screen SE2 basically
iPhone: Current iPhone XS
iPhone Pro: Current iPhone XS Max

Make them $599,$699,$799 and Apple would sell tons.
[doublepost=1542079488][/doublepost]Ming Chi Who is a broken clock, except only once a day. Thanks for the buying opportunity Ming Chi Woo

I would like to see them expand the XR line to 3 sizes: the current one, a 6/7/8-sized model, and an SE-sized model. The two smaller ones would make a lot of people happy, including me. The hardware in the XR is great (it was really nice to see the XR get the same newest-gen SoC as the XS), it's just bigger than a lot of people want to carry.

It's definitely bigger than what I want to carry. I think Apple needs to get punished a bit for only marketing big phones. There is definitely a market for an SE2 and the way we can prove it is to not buy some huge, heavy, overpriced monstrosity.

Traders will sell and buy on the momentum. Investors will hold through all this BS. As a share holder for years I can tell you that information like this comes and goes and the people who tune it out make money. Tune out the noise and look back in 5 years and see how wealthy you will become. As you said AAPL is the best hold at the moment as profits are consistently going up (HUGE).

Even Kuo's lower estimate means that 1% of the entire human population of the world will buy an XR within the first 12 months. Not including all the people buying the Xs and Xs max as well as older models. For premium phones at the top of the price range, that is phenomenally good. It's pushed Apple to a trillion dollar company (at least briefly). If Apple holds those sales they will continue to be a trillion dollar company. But when they dominate that much of the world, how much upward potential do you think the stock has?

Lifecycle of an analyst:
1. Make exxagerated positive prediction of Apple shipment prior to product release
2. Make even more exxagerated negative prediction after product release
3. ... (watch all the bloggers and journalists eating it all up and parroting it as facts and news)
4. Profit.

You mean you underperform the market for a living? Who is angry? I’m simply pointing out that making a prediction without real money backing it is just worthless talk.

Did I say anything about what im holding? Anywayyyyy im done with you.

It’s been established in another thread that Apple has at least 3 suppliers for FaceID components. As usual, it’s impossible to base anything on one supplier who does 70% of their business with companies other than Apple and is looking for a scapegoat for a bad quarter. Apple may have cut their orders because Finisar could deliver more.

Any analysts making prediction based on supplier reports has been proven wrong time and again, going back to the iPhone 5.
