First thing that I thought of when they made the announcement of Xr is 5c.

Judging by my circle of friends - out of 10, two of us got the Xs. Feedback from others is 7 or 8 is good enough and Xr is not enough of an upgrade & Xs is too expensive for the storage they needed.

Our family's upgrade through At&t was going to equal to 3/4 of my car lease payment. Thinking in that perspective...even though it's solid tech. It's a tough call for many these days.

We still got three 6s in our household. As far as "real life" performance for our usage , they are on par with the latest offerings. Batteries replaced for $29 each. New phones tempt me for the larger screen but that's about it. What does the Xr bring to me with iOS 12 that I can't do with the 6s other than the fake bokeh stuff, face id, wireless charging and the animated emoji? All stuff I've been without and don't need.

All stuff I've been without and don't need.

This is the exact problem. Without something that takes advantage of the extra power/capabilities, it's not compelling. Without carrier subsidies it's an even more difficult buy.

Does anybody know if we ever heard what it costs to make Airpods?
Meanwhile THRONGS of people in this very forum and others declared the AirPods were a DOA product - “So unapple” “Steve Jobs spinning in his grave”. The designs are hideous “no one will buy them”... I could go on and on and on...

Meanwhile “Best Buy says AirPods were
the Number ONE product consumers are buying”.. at the rate I see them in the wild - this is a SMASH HIT product that to this day has NO COMPETITION...

What about Steve Jobs? And Tim can’t get “anything” right? “Apple can’t innovate”!

Oh one last thing (lol)

Apple Watch.

Enough said.

C’mon people. The smartphone has run its course. All the companies need to find a newer reason why people MUST upgrade.

less than 100. Just wondering why there hasn't been any news stories or independent investigation into Apples flagship phone causing headaches? Probably because the issue affects so few people that, while unfortunate, it is not a big deal.

My close friend still has his 6s+, works great. It's honestly as good as my X in daily life aside from the camera and technology.

And quite honestly. with the 12.1 update is just as fast as my 7Plus. At first iOS 12 was snappy, no idea what they did with it.

The only reason Im going with this phone is because the LCD screen doesn’t blast your eyeballs out with PWM like the OLED screens. Total fail on Apple’s part to pit a screen on XS and Max that gives people headaches. Unbelievable

Omg x1000 on this, PWM note...
I got rid of my X to get the Xr specifically because of the flickering night use.
Also noticed that the colours were really “off” in the night time, dim setting too.

Really annoyed
But also really happy with the Xr.

BT 5.0 (big deal if you have the AW), extremely better camera, faster processing, improved WiFi, depending on cellular company you can take advantage of more bandwidth available

Who cares if he's paid? Every analyst wrong about Apple sales figures are paid. The reason they throw so much garbage out is BECAUSE they are paid to do so BECAUSE people click these stories. Apple is one of the most manipulated stocks in the world and this is why.

You post one fake news article and it's copied endlessly because it works people into a frenzy, facts be damned.

What I'm pointing out is that they ARE guessing and in the past, Apple has proven them wrong. Apple recently traded at $233/share. Do you think anything happened in the last month has really changed about the business? These supply chain "checks" are the biggest joke, starting with the always wrong Nikkei.

BTW, Apple trades at 13X 2019 earnings, so let's not have the "stock is overvalued" argument because I'll direct you to AMZN, MSFT, GOOGL, FB, NFLX, NVDA, AMD, and others that all trade significantly higher than 13X earnings.

The whole market is a turd, which is why the stock is down. Nothing to see here. Come back Feb 1 when the numbers are out and Apple beats (again).

I wholeheartedly agree that now it is up to real numbers to speak for themselves in February. It seems to me that there are a lot of problems the market conjures out of thin air. I think AAPL execs knew the stock would take a hit when they decided to not give the numbers on units of phones. Better take the hit now and shed 5% or 10% right now. The percentage would be a larger piece of pie later if they put it off.

Once 5G Network fully operational, a dedicated smartphone unnecessary. The Computer and wearables will replace the smartphone. Already, most of my texts and calls are via the Apple Watch. Today, the network holding back innovation and thus we still depend on 10 year old technology.

Agreed
Most ppl don’t notice.
I didn’t notice for a long time either - until headaches- migraines season started for me... change in weather, rain, etc
The flickering X screen didn’t help.
Wife loves the Xs max. She doesn’t notice, so yeah, it’s not a big deal - for most.

But the Pocophone costs 1/4 to 1/3 of the XR, so the fact that it's close is huge. Is the XR really 3 times the better phone in order to justify the price? Nope. iOS is the only reason I'm staying with Apple... for now.

That's was the point of the youtuber's challenge (Test was done by showing the same video). And it was not close, the Xr handily won. He wanted to prove and he did, that the spec shaming of the Xr was not a real thing. When the results showed it, commenters then wanted to say it is a cheaper phone that's why it lost after the whole internet said it would have a better screen. Until somebody can match apple with an edge to edge(sides and top and bottom) LCD, FaceID, A12 chip performance with a lower price the Xr will cost what it costs.

I'm just talking about Kuo's supposed reliability , I really don't care about stock, market manipulation. I just know that all the money I've earned (or not lost) with stock market was made doing exactly the opposite of analists' advices, see 2012 and 2015 AAPL dips. Every stupid analist bullying about buy buy buy and see what happened. Remember it's you the one who choose to filter informations for yourself. Or do you really believe that every Kuo's sneeze impacts a gazillion dollars stock value?
He's good on SPECS, but no one is good on sales.

You can twist however you want to analyse data to suit your need.

If Apple's guiding is correct, that would mean that their growth have significantly reduced (-75%), on a year-over year basis.

So Apple is "running out of steam" after all. ;)
Again, no. We are talking 12% versus 6.5%, which is less than 50% and the actuals aren't in yet. Yes, the growth in Q1 might slow, but we don't have the numbers to verify it yet and the EPS will grow, which is all the matters in the end.

We've discussed the law or large numbers, so growth gets harder as the numbers increase.

I don't consider growing sales $6-8 billion dollars in 90 days running out of steam. Some would call that a good year. That's why I don't use silly commentary. I just look at numbers.

Now let me get this straight....that is a whole 85 people? Just staggering.

It didn’t matter when they did release sales. Wall Street has a narrative it’s wanted to believe for years and any rumor or data point that might support it they jump on. I remember one year a guy on CNBC threw his phone on the table and said “iIt’s just a gadget. Apple is a gadget maker. But what happens when someone else comes along and builds a better gadget?” So long as Wall Street believes there’s always someone out there who will build the better mouse trap they’re going to be nervous nellies around iPhone rumors. Which is why Apple has to start telling a different story like what the active install base is and how much they’re making off of each use (ARPU). Focusing on whether iPhone sales are up or down is no longer meaningful. But only Apple can get Wall Street to stop obsessing over iPhone sales.
I'm beginning to wonder if you're like the only person who gets it here when it comes to the business.

I have the XR, and I love it. It's really not all that different than the XS. Check out the cnet review on youtube. Biggest difference is really just the back camera with portrait mode. Aside from that, it's a much better value than the XS.

Yeah, if you haven't noticed, iOS is a pretty big reason to stay. I guess you have noticed...since you are staying.

The Pocophone is a piece of crap. Unless you're poor, you're not going to be interested in $300 saving over the life of a device you own for 2-3 years and is in your hand hours per day. And if you're poor, you likely didn't have an iPhone in the first place.

I doubt very seriously anyone who had an iPhone is switching to a freaking Pocophone. They'll maybe switch to a high end Android, but even few will do that because they cost similar dollars and run an inferior OS.

People who are comparing the XR to the 5C are comparing apples to oranges. The 5C was a flop because it was year-old internals (the iPhone 5 guts) put in a cheap plastic enclosure. The XR has the exact same processor as the XS. And you can get a lot more bang for your buck with storage. $800 for 128gb XR-- a great deal for lots of storage. XS doesn't have a 128gb storage tier for only $50 more than the baseline model. So RX is nothing like the 5C.

Time for Apple to start thinking about what comes after the iPhone. People aren't impressed with the incremental upgrades anymore or cutesy yet useless stuff like Animoji and Memoji. Time to innovate and bring us the next-gen smartphone again that will make us more productive and our lives easier and smarter.
