Oh, please. You DO realize a broken clock is right twice a day...
Just counting minutes and hours a broken watch is correct twice out of every 1440 minutes in a day.
Therefore Ming-Chi Kuo would only be successful once every 720 predictions according to your analogy.
I think he's batting a little higher than that.

The Number is illogical! It would mean they would be running into iPhone 10 before they catch up. He’s just wanting clicks because the events in 26 hours
Yeah. 10k for all SKUs is just not enough. There is no way Apple could catch up on the backlog. The only thing I see is them still running trial production. But that would be veeeeeeery late.

Wish Apple held the keynote on the 6th. They would have avoided all of these latest 'leaks' and this constant over analysing.

Not necessarily. Even the HomePod software released a significant amount of leaks where it divulged Enough information to expose a good portion of the iPhone contents. And that was periodically throughout August.

And over analyzing is what happens on a rumored website. A rumor, leak or prediction is published, then naturally its dissected by those who try to see all angles of the information. That's what makes for interesting discussion.

What do you all suppose is the fastest way to get an iP8? 3am online or physical Apple Store?

My 6 Plus has crapped out and I'd rather switch straight to an iP8 rather than burning money on a stopgap phone.

Probably wait for santa to bring one down the chimney

I know who he is, but first it was “ delayed due to Touchid” which then got redacted then “ oh no delayed because OLED screen “ again redacted , now its “ oh we cant make this colour right “

iPhone 7 “ Delayed due to diffulties with home button “ and “ delayed because of duel camera supply “

I can go back further but I seriously cant be bothered, don’t believe anything on supposed delays because they are usually just tactics to drop the stock market so people can buy up ready for it to increase after announcement day. Every IPhone has been “delayed” and every Iphone rolled out fine and i strongly believe Apple will not make this any different

I don't think the macrumors readers that are dumping their stock because of reports of delayed iPhones are having much impact on the market. Besides, hedge much?

This product just seems to be a catalogue of failures. I’m concerned about Apple’s future.

If this launch bombs as hard as I think it will, Tim Cook is going to finally start feeling the heat. He doesn’t have a lot of product accomplishments since taking over as CEO.

Really, ask yourself if you’d rather have the iPhone X or a Samsung S8. It’s a lot closer than its ever been. If it wasn’t for iOS, personally, I wouldn’t be buying Apple hardware; its fallen way behind par.
Sure. Apple is doomed. Again.

Oh and how the **** can a phone, which has not even been publicly announced, be a "catalogue of failures"?

Go and promo the S8 somewhere else.

Tim Cook hasn't had a lot of product accomplishments? What about the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus? What about the Apple Watch? What about bringing the iPad back to growth?

Didn’t think of test production! Yeah probably found some leak on the trail run at the start of August And held it in till now for more clicks. At the moment id say the number will be 100k per day in total units if not more otherwise pre orders at 12:03 would be getting theirs in time for iPhone 9S

I was up at 3am last year ordering and still didnt get mine until October. Billions of dollars and they still have issues with supply? Sounds like they dont know if the phone will work perfectly...

This guy again? Apple wouldn't bring a phone to market if their production yield is a mere 10k units/day.

Assuming production started August 1, 2017 and maintained 9,500 units per day according to this report... Thats 369,000 units to date.

If true, 10k per day isn't a supply constraint, it's a model that can't be released. If you extrapolate out, with their starting production in the last 30 days, that's 300k units for launch. There is no way they would offer it for sale if that's what they're sitting on now.

Maybe with 3m units on hand, but then they'd need to be producing ~1m units per day to satisfy what I expect will be initial demand of 30m units in the first 30 days.

Demand will still outweigh supply, but usually Apple racks up 3-4M in pre-orders the first weekend a new iPhone goes on sale. Assuming the device doesn't go on sale til end of month (at the earliest), Apple will have ~ 600K in supply. We should also assume that supply will only increase and not decrease over the coming weeks, as they refine the manufacturing process.

Let's not forget with the 'new' 8 and 8 Plus, most consumers will still go for these devices. While us forum goers can more easily justify spending 1K on an iPhone, most consumers find $650 already very expensive, and likely won't go for this more expensive device. Estimating 3-4M of pre-orders, divided by all 3 devices equally (which is still unlikely to assume 1/3 of consumers will spend 1K on an iPhone), we're looking at a demand of 1-1.5M for the new Phone for pre-order weekend. That still outstrips 600K in supply, but it's not quite as bleak as this rumor is making it out to be.

Will be an interesting few days , figuring this all out, for when these things will land in people’s hands, nevermind the move away from a button.

I’m sure “if the light hits it in a certain way”, that gold colour looks ok, but generally, from the renders so far, it looks like a poor compromise in my opinion. I get the idea, reduce skus, but how do you satisfy people who like gold, and those who like rose gold? Answer appears to be, mash them together into some goldish orangish dull brown colour that isn’t gold, isn’t pink and isn’t copper.

Oh behave. Doesn't have a lot of product accomplishments? He's overseen the highest quarter earning of any company ever. The company is more successful than ever under him.

These phone will sell like hot cakes like they always do. Mark my words.

I'm still happy with my 6S. It has great features like a real home button, TouchID (which even works at night), a headphone jack and this magical thing it does where I get an extra £1k in my bank account every year.

It's a pretty good phone.

Agreed, my 6S still works great. My only reason for even upgrading would be camera improvements. I use my iPad Pro WAAAY more than my iPhone for watching video, web surfing, games, editing photos, etc.

I also think it's shortsighted to say it won't have an impact on Apple's bottom line. Customers have two high end phones - the X and the Note8. One of them isn't available for ages and the other is. Your phone contract is up. What do you do?
You wait until the phone you want is available. Pretty simple for most people. Might be a little more difficult for those with impulse control.:)

Tangent: Imo, there's really not that much crossover between Note buyers and iPhone buyers. You're talking about two of the most brand loyal segments there are. Note buyers really don't even want to buy S series phones. They're weirdly loyal to that phone. Cult-like almost.

The whole point is to get locked into the ecosystem . You said yourself "if it wasn't for iOS...." They will bundle the new iPhone X with Apple Music and more iCloud storage, further locking people in. At this point its less about the phones and more about the ecosystem.

You forget that Apple is the most powerful brand in the world and supply constraint just makes people want it more and more.

KG has been wrong before, namely his info that the bottom 1/5 of the screen was going to be functional and not part of the app use itself

TouchID (which even works at night),

I don't know why I didn't think of that. wow. Thats a deal breaker for me. I assume the new iPhone will light up your face to scan it or something. very obnoxious. Lets see what apple has to say tomorrow, but man that is a deal breaker for me.

In comparison, did we get any numbers on how many Jet Black models were available at launch last year?

The FaceID is inferred. will be able to scan what it needs without the need for your face being illuminated and apparently without the need for u to even look at it or line up with little lines it apparently just works. Thats why is so much more advanced than current tech on android , which take a photo of your face and compare it to its photo on file.
