Yep, I thought there was a few others before the 7+. But wait, we will have everyone telling you the iPhone 7+ dual camera is better than all of those. I can tell you from experience, the dual camera on the 7+ is a gimmick. It is only used when doing Portrait Mode, which really only works when you have maximum lighting.
I had the M8 briefly and I liked that i could edit the background with the 2nd camera. Unfortunately HTC at the time was stubborn with their 4mp "ultra pixel" nonsense.

EDIT: By the way I cant believe Morpheus is on macrumors. :p

Compared to the HTC One M8 which combined a 2MP camera with a 4MP camera. Two things make an innovation, it has to be a new approach to solve a problem and it has to be a vast improvement over previous solutions to the problem.

I welcome USB-C,

but what about all those lightning cables? What a fail of a connector, 4 year run vs 30-pin for what felt like eternity

hopefully USB-C is for eternity,

Eternity, don't hold your breathe :) Apple will find another way to get you to rebuy all your accessories and to create new licensing deals with third party manufacturers.

Which actually makes it take some pretty fabulous photos. I've really liked it, though I'll be the first to admit the only difference between the camera on the 7+ and any previous dual-camera setup is software. But that software makes me look like I'm using a much nicer camera than I really am, so I'll take it.

3-5 minutes? What, you have nothing on your phone. I had to replace my step son's iPhone 6s 64GB phone last week (broken screen, got a new one). It took 20-30 minutes to do the sync with all his apps and music.

Finally someone who understands. Thank you. Syncing my 80 % full 32GB iPod 5 touch is a nightmare. All software up to date btw. I try not to buy something on my MacBook Air's iTunes because transferring the purchases takes like forever. Sometimes I need 2 or more syncs until everything is actually synced.

To play Devil's Advocate...
Edge to edge OLED w/ the same new "TouchBar" tech introduced in late 2016 MBPs would certainly be a new & interesting implementation. Bigger, 2-cell battery WITHOUT making the phone thicker (courtesy of logic board stacking) is a fantastic new idea, supporting fast charging without the need to change to a new charger type is also a first, and quite handy.
You have a point w/ the wireless charging, if it turns out to be inductive- if it is a ranged charge; that's radically new as well.

I slap a case on my iPhone that makes it twice as big, an extra hair or two more really won't make a difference. I think this is more of a bragging right to win over superficial consumers rather than aiming to make a genuinely better product. This obsession with thinness at the cost of everything else is getting ridiculous. Maybe this is how they'll win over said person to buy an iPhone, but alas these consumers come quickly and can leave just as quickly.

I have the latest UPC router, updated in mid 2016, with 5 GHz
Perhaps it the apl device wifi then? discoveryd or mDNSResponder issue?

Here's some good advice:

"I have to reset all of my networks to get the stupid wifi to work. And rebooting the modem doesn't work. And when my phone turns on again after resetting the networks the 4g is on. Why is this happening. Oh and btw forgetting the network doesn't work either."

Was hoping for USB-C. :(

If it does the same thing, what's the difference? Now Apple can keep the connector that all their devices use. All it needs is a different controller chip and a lightning->USB C wire, and boom!

Which is fine. Most iPhone users I know, including myself, don't need to be right on the edge of new tech. I usually find that new iPhone features are reliable which is a bigger priority to me than new bells and whistles.

I only say that from my own Android experiences having new tech implemented but unreliable, not sure if it's like that for every user/model.

See that innovation in the fast-charging Galaxy Note 7? They rushed to market too fast.

Did you read the first post correctly? Apple is not changing the port, they are most likely changing the end of the cable.

And apple really had no choice but to create a new port in the iPhone 5. There was no USB-C at the time and mini usb sucks.

Amen! For all the talk of Lightning cables failing, I've had one cable have an issue, yet mini USB has been a PITA.
[doublepost=1488490752][/doublepost]
Good, I prefer the Lightning connector anyway. USB-C is fine, but I don't want there to be a breakable piece in the device. Everything breakable should be on the cable itself. With Lightning, there's nothing in the device but the channel itself (and power/signal pins of course). With USB-C, there's a centered piece that could be broken. It's not likely to happen, but it's still a possibility.

Broken pin inside USB-C female end: expensive repair or device replacement.
Broken Lightning cable: replace cable.

Say what you want about Apple and their connectors, but they really did it right with Lightning. It's strong, reversible, and safe. The only thing that could be improved is that it's proprietary. If they licensed the connector and everyone else used it for their connections, it would be amazing.

Until the next thing comes along? You make it sound like USB-C is the last cable anyone will ever need.

Amen! I cannot understand the rationale behind the the USB-C design. Lightning nailed it.

I was thinking the same thing, USB-C will never be improved upon? lol

I agree they could provided adapters, but why would they? They have no way of knowing what you need.
What percentage of MBP buyers do you think have Lightning devices (ie, semi-recent iPhones and iPads)? I'd say that percentage is pretty high. And if you have a Lightning device and USB-C Mac, than a Lightning to USB-C cable is what you need (or at least want over combining a USB-C to USB-A adaptor with your USB-A to Lightning cable.

Just call it Thunderbolt charging then and include the new iPhones with the Macbook Pro for its upgraded pricetag.

I'm hoping for USB-C.

As for replacing Lightning charge cords, that won't be a problem. They have a 3-7 month lifetime anyway.
I don't know what you people are doing to these cables; but I have NEVER had an Apple charging cable go bad. Even my ancient 30 pin cable for my iPad 2 and iPhone 4s is fine, as is the over two year old Lightning charging cable for my iPhone 6 Plus.

Treat cables with respect, and they will reward you with YEARS of trouble-free service. Tread them like weeds, and guess what?

It'll be like my 950 true , is amazing

OLED. wireless charge, USB-C , Removable battery , NFC for everything, Continuum , 20MP,expensive $298

It is way past time for Apple to dump the Lightning port. They should have went USB-C with the iPhone 7 when they dumping the headphone jack.

Apple, rip the Lighting port band-aid off. Go USB-C on all your devices.

And also add wireless Qi charging
What good is Qi charging over traditional cable charge? More restrictive? I use my device when it's charging and I'm sure I'm not alone. Apple doesn't need to add more gimmicks to their products just to please a very select, very vocal, minority of users.

What's the difference in being tethered to a pad or being tethered to the wall? Wireless Qi is not wireless at all.

Would you say the Apple Watch supports wireless charging? Using your logic, it would be called wireless, even though it's a 3 meter cable.

Has anyone noticed that inside of the USB-C female port looks like the Lightening port's male?

I think Apple can some how make the adaptation while preserving the Lightening port...one can hope right?

I think a combination of these three factors will net a VERY nice battery life regardless of a few mm getting trimmed off):

1) A11 chip w/ 10nm process using at least 40% less power, while still increasing speed approximately 30%.
2) OLED screen allowing for less power consumption (particularly if coupled with a new "dark mode")
3) Multiple cell battery w/ drastically more area coverage in the two most significant dimensions (length & width), allowing for higher mAh rating, by far.

I've never had a problem with a lightning cable either. The 30 pinners were a different story. Even the spring from the ballpoint pen trick couldn't save those babies.

This makes much more sense.

Sorry, but it makes not fracking sense what-so-ever. They're going to move to a USB-C feature (that is obviously superior) but not USB-C itself so that Apple could have ONE WIRE for EVERYTHING??? WTF Apple!?!?!!?!!??! You're run by FRACKING MORON IDIOTS!!!!!!

Why would you want to have a connector that isn't even present on a Macbook Pro or any Mac when it's THE STANDARD connector for everything and everyone else going into the future? That just means you MUST use another stinking adapter to charge or do a SECURE wired data transfer. WHY? WTF is the point? Apple needs to just admit that Lightning was a STUPID BONEHEAD MOVE and move forward already! They should have gone straight from the 30-pin connector to USB-C. All they would have had to do was a couple of years more. Instead, they created a stinking mess with custom connectors the rest of the world (>83% of all phones are now Android) doesn't know or care about.

I say FIRE Jony. He's a creative turd when left to his own devices. Thin notebooks that overheat and keyboards stop working. Ugly damn GUI changes that don't respect conventions.... Bring back Scott Forestall.
