kawakami-kun pitched well while fighting for his spot in the rotation. 8 shutout innings in a 1-0 braves win last night.

meanwhile, the rays get back to .500 with a whipping of the stinky fish last night. man, how far have the marlins fallen since that 11-1 start. 8-23 since.

iPhone app

Anyone having problems listening to gameday on there iPhones? Mine drops out time to time… was listening to a home run call and ………… silence… Its a great app but audio knocks out from time to time…

rays stink

up 10-0 and they lose 10-11 to the last place indians. looks like the rays are going to be average this year, especially with aki-kun out for the year. offense is great, but the pitching is iffy. why do they lose so much to last place teams?

and talking about average teams, the braves are like this too, got spanked by the giants after sweeping the jays. no clue what's going on there either, but it's mostly on and off hitting.

why do all the teams i like end up being just average? sigh...

Lets go Cubs lets go Cubs lets go Cubs, I pitty the Pirates.:D

The Braves are over rated and have been for the past 15 years.

The Rays are dealing with a lot of injuries that I don't know if they can over come.

The Jays just came back down to earth, there was no way they would lead the AL east all year. They had a weak schedule the first 4 weeks of the season.

Clay Buchholz missed a perfect game by one single in the 9th inning last night in AAA.

He faced 28 batters, threw 70 of 96 pitches for strikes, had 0 walks, and struck out 7.

He's now 3-0 on the season with a 1.30 ERA, 0.74 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts in 48.1 innings. I can't wait to see him back in Boston.

Bostons gotta move somebody. Brad Penny makes the most sense, but Isn't John Smoltz coming in June? Lesters been stinking, maybe a trip to the DL (for a mysterious "arm injury") and call up Clay. Or with Beckett and Dice-K is it safe to assume someone will be hurt by the time Smoltz is ready?

Smoltz is probably around 2-3 weeks away. He had his 2nd rehab start tonight.. 3.1ip 3h 1r 2k 0bb. His velocity is reportedly around 92. I guess we'll see what happens once he gets back.

Things I learned about MLB today: kevin slowey is 7-1. Indians and Rays score 15 runs in 4 innings. Kris Benson still plays. Carlos Zambrano is the biggest baby in the world. Jay Bruce now has 14(!) home runs.

Does anyone else hate how the Yankees are treating Wang? They have this great starter that has been their ace for 2 years and they treat him like dirt..... They need to put Joba back in the setup position for Mo and put Wang in his place. But, to put him in as a reliever( which I agree with to see if he is 100% healthy) with no guarantee of being put back in the rotation is disrespectful. If this was a contract resigning year, I would refuse to resign with the yanks and talk with the Red Sox.

I think Wang will be back in the rotation as soon as be proves he is healthy. There is talk about a 6 man back 3 rotating of Wang Hughes and Jaba. I would love to see Jaba become the 8th inning man but management is stubborn.

Yeah, he will be put back in eventually, but the other day there was an article at MLB.com that said that Wang will be put in the rotation if the chance presents itself. So by the sounds of it, unless one of the current starters gets injured, Wang is a long reliever right now. Which is BS considering the guy had delivered you two 19 win seasons and was pretty much your ace pitcher until he got injured last year which then Moose took that role over. Yeah, you want Wang healthy again before you put him back in, but will only be put back in if the chance presents itself? That is pissing on Wang's efforts he made to the Yankees.

The problem is that Hughes is doing well and he was the one that would have been sent down. A 6 man rotating back 3 would be the best bet right now. Sabathia Burnett Pettitte going normal work and Wang Hughes and Jaba rotating.

Joba's basically a league average starter.. I don't see why you would want to keep him in the rotation when he can be a shut down guy in the bullpen. It's basically the same choice the red sox had with Papelbon before the 2007 season.

Put him in the 8th inning role so he'll be ready to take over for Mo when he retires.

Jaba is built to be a closer. I just wish the Yankees would admit it.

He really is. He has the stuff to dominate for one inning. When he has to pitch 6-7 innings in a start, its just average. But for just one inning, he can be completely dominant.. thats what you want in a closer.

yay! i just ordered tickets to see john smoltz pitch in pawtucket tonight :D

just got back from seeing Smoltz..

6.0ip 1h 1r 3k 2bb 75 pitches 51 strikes

his fastball topped out at 92 and was consistently at 91
