whats with mlb.com gameday charging for the video replays now? they used to be free. what a ripoff.

Milwaukee?

So how good is this Brewer team? They surprised everyone with a playoff run last year and are playing pretty well again this year despite a horrific looking pitching staff on paper. How far can this scrappy bunch go?

Brian Wilson may be "moving on" but Giants fans are still talking about it. It's the hot topic on most sports talk in the Bay Area, and I have to agree with most local commentators that Blake shouldn't get too comfortable in his first AB come August 10th (the next Giants-Dodger game.) Ballplayers have VERY long memories. ;)

I think the introduction of A.J. Hinch as the Diamondbacks new manager might just be the introduction of the AZ Cardinals era at the D-Backs.

Josh Byrnes wanted a manager that worked with and listened to the help/changes the front office and the owners want ...

yay AZ Cardinals, they required that for decades until the owner's son ended that nonsense and they did really well in a breakout season.

General Manager Josh Byrnes seemed proud how he was going down into the clubhouse and helped select the line-up before the game.

It's nice to see Ken Jr back in a Seattle uniform again, I should watch more baseball but been too busy working lately and I cant get M's games on cable this far east :(

Peavy to the White Sox?

Padres ace Peavy turns down trade to White Sox
CHICAGO(AP) — Jake Peavy is staying with the San Diego Padres.

The ace pitcher has turned down a trade to the Chicago White Sox, choosing to remain with his longtime team.

The 2007 NL Cy Young Award winner rejected the deal Thursday. The Padres and White Sox had reached an agreement, but needed Peavy to waive his no-trade clause.

White Sox's Ken Williams comments on Peavy rejection

By Mark Gonzales

White Sox general manager Ken Williams issued the following statement on Jake Peavy's declining of a trade from San Diego to Chicago:
"It was communicated to me earlier this evening that Jake Peavy is simply not yet ready to make a commitment to join the Chicago White Sox.I understand where Jake is coming from given the unusually early timing of this type of event. It's understandable that he was caught a bit off guard, as most people in his position would be. He has a wife and three young boys to consider, and Jake has earned the right to thoroughly think through this move. He and his agent, Barry Axelrod, have been transparent in their thoughts, respectful and complimentary of what we have accomplished with the White Sox, and understand our desire to win another World Series title. I walk away with a greater respect and admiration for both as a result. Anyone who has followed our club knows we still have championship aspirations for this season and will continue to improve our current club by pursuing all of our various opportunities."

The no trade clause rears its ugly head..

The chance of Peavy staying with the Padres are slim, he said he wants to stay in the NL. So what team do you see him agreeing too.

Peavy did the Padres a favor there. Any package from the White Sox without Gordon Beckham should not be entertained.

Isn't one of the reasons that Peavy didn't go to the Cubs was because the Padres were asking for too much in return.

another homer by Griffey today. did anyone notice that he hit the subway "hit it here" sign? so someone got $25,000 for that homer

Sorry, I just found this thread...

Yea, that was in the metrodome, the B.S. part is it's only valid if a Twin hits it. Nobody got anything.

How about my boy Mauer? Dude's on a tear! 8 HR's in 18 games counting todays Grand Slam (20-1 vs. the Sox!) :D

I think so. It was a complicated deal, if I remember. I think it was a 4 team trade with the phillies and orioles involved and the Cubs giving up Felix Pie, Mark DeRosa, and Sean Marshall, all of whom aren't Cubs anymore.

I used to be big Mauer critic, but I've gone 180. MAN is he putting up numbers this year. holy moley.

Met's fans never did this :p
CHIBA, Japan -- Bobby Valentine put the fans first in Japan, and in his moment of need, they're paying him back.

An increasing number of fans of the Chiba Lotte Marines are holding nightly vigils in support of their manager, upset at the Japanese baseball club's refusal to extend his contract beyond the end of this season.
Fans in right field at Chiba Marine Stadium wear T-shirts that say "Bobby 2010" and wave huge signs with slogans such as "No Bobby, No Marines," and "Always Behind Bobby."

Before going into the stadium, fans can sign a petition to keep Valentine beyond the 2009 season. Okazaki said they already have about 50,000 signatures for Valentine, who led the New York Mets to the World Series in 2000.

Mauer is the man! I'm a huge Twins fan, and I must say I found great enjoyment watching the Twins pound the White Sox. I HATE the White Sox.

I hope they put together a good interleague series so they can get back on track.

Peavy to the Dodgers! Hey, he said he wants to stay in Cali. Plus, he usually puts a hurtin' on us, except this year, so far. Peavy in Dodger Blue would be great!

Oh yeah, who's still the best team in baseball, even without Mannywood? umm, oh yeah, the Dodgers.

Going from San Diego to Milwaukee? No way in hell he agrees to go there. Can't blame him. :p

really? I guess you don't know much about the business of baseball... No way Sabathia was going there last year either right? How the Fathers looking this year anyway? Brewers are in first place:p

Sabathia didn't have a no trade clause.
