I was wondering what the hell was up with the Boston uniform. It's friggin uncalled for.

zioxide or foto I seem to have forgotten what their standard away was/is. Got any pics?

I could've sworn it said Boston, but in red lettering.

The Dodgers do look good, they do seem to have some relief troubles though.

The old aways were grey with red "BOSTON" on the front and red lettering/numbers on the back.

I don't know anyone who really likes these new uniforms

At least those are still within the road/home color scheme, the D-Backs Saturday Blacks have need a supply of everything in the black color scheme for a 1-day a week uniform.

Socks, undershirts, hats, batting helmets, etc.

That's what I thought.

Yea, they aren't too spectacular (I'm not being biased b/c I'm a Yankee fan either :p). They fail to capture the essence of you know being a RED SOX. You know the color red

Because it means more $$$ in jersey sales, esp at the ballpark....

Well, at least it might get rid of the dreaded pink hats™

Unfortunately, the pink hats (and their fans) aren't going away..The unis aren't bad..Still better than the green ones they did up in honor of Aurbach's passing.

I hear ya on that. It's the price you pay for winning titles and being consistently good.

Oh lord, I remember those.

Speaking of bad uni's (and IJ can back me up on this), the Padres wore their camouflage uni's this week against the Dodgers to "honor" the military. Let's just say, they did them a disservice.

^Yes, those.

*shudder*

There are few uni's that have stood the test of time.

Yankees
Red Sox (with the exception of the green and this year away)
Dodger (Brooklyn and LA)
Pirates
Cubs

ouch for the blewers... give it away to the cubs in the 9th.. They have a really good young team but with that wreck of a pitching staff its gonna be a long year. It sucks that small market teams can barely compete when they get just a few injuries.

Yes the Padres usually do 3-5 games per season in the "Camo" uni's to honor all the military and 'cuz City of San Diego and County is a Military area....

And the Military usually gets a discount for seats.... :D

Phillies TV man Kalas dies at 73

WASHINGTON -- Philadelphia Phillies broadcaster Harry Kalas has died at the age of 73, team president David Montgomery said Monday.

Kalas, who also filled a voiceover role for NFL Films since 1975, was taken to a hospital Monday after passing out in the broadcast booth before Monday's game against the Washington Nationals.

The 73-year-old Kalas, known for his distinctive "Outta here!" call on home runs, was found by the Phillies director of broadcasting at about 12:30 p.m., Montgomery said.

Kalas joined the Phillies in 1971. Before that, he was an original member of the Houston Astros' broadcast team from 1965-70.

In 2002, he received the Baseball Hall of Fame's Ford C. Frick Award for his contributions to the game.

I think he was one of the best broadcasters ever. Low booming voice that could soothe a baby.

Harry was definitely a broadcast great..And going out in a broadcast booth no less..

lmao..Maybe they can get Albert Belle and Carlos Baerga for a family reunion:
Manny ponders Cleveland reunion
"I would like to play for Cleveland one more time, to go back where I started," Ramirez told USA Today. "I have so many good memories there, why not?

"I think to go back where you started is everyone's dream."
According to USA Today, Ramirez talked to Chicago White Sox designated hitter Jim Thome this spring about an eventual return to Cleveland, telling his Indians teammate from 1993 to 2000 that if they were free agents after this season they should consider a reunion.

"Manny was very sincere when he brought that up to me," Thome said, according to the newspaper. "Manny was saying how special that would be for us to both go back together. He was very passionate. Baseball's such a weird thing. You never know what's going to happen."

Sorry, I missed this earlier. I think it's called Camp Pendelton Day, for the nearby Marine Corp base.

sigh, one of the greatest voices for baseball and football, gone. i didn't listen to him too much on the baseball end, but know him more for the nfl films side of things. only great we have left it seems like is vin scully...

So, it's on the first week and all...but the M's are 5-2, and were one strike away from 6-1...not too shabby after last year's fiasco, especially since we've done all this without Ichiro!

Fidrych, 54, dies in apparent accident

BOSTON -- Former All-Star pitcher Mark "The Bird" Fidrych has been found dead in an apparent accident at his farm in Northborough, Massachusetts. He was 54.

Worcester County district attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. says a family friend found Fidrych about 2:30 p.m. Monday beneath a pickup truck. He appeared to be working on the truck, Early said.

The colorful right-hander was the American League rookie of the year in 1976 when he went 19-9 with a 2.34 earned run average. He spent all five of his major league seasons with the Detroit Tigers, compiling a 29-19 record and a 3.10 ERA.

His career was cut short by injuries.

Pesky Rays, this is going to get old fast. It was more fun when they sucked.

i saw most of the game. swisher had to come in and pitch near the end because it was so ugly. 15-5 win for the rays, and wang's era is uggly after giving up 8 er in one inning (hint: it's close to 30). and btw, weren't the rays beating the yankees a bunch even when they were no good?

Wang's 2 starts have not been good, not sure if it is just rust from not playing in so long. Lester is off to a rough start for the Sox as well. I don't think there is reason to worry yet.
