Well, the Yankees earned this win. Lights out pitching + nice hitting = long day for this Phillies fan.

It's bedtime.

Maybe my city's luck will be good on Sunday. But I'm not holding my breath. At least the Flyers won today.

blue november!!!!!!!

hey robo, you like apples??????? how you like them apples???? :p

I think it's a bad move by Girardi to bring Rivera in. The Yanks are still up by 3 and I would save him for 2 innings tomorrow. I'd leave Hughes in. They're still up by 3 and there's already 1 out.

Edit: Yankees win!!! Tomorrow is do or die for the Phillies against Sabathia no less! gfish31 where are you now? :p

I agree who woulda think andy would be the big turn around play for the yanks anyway nice to see the bats finaly wake up for the yanks and hope it continues tommorow

I don't want to give some of the anti-Yankees fans comfort, I've got to say that I've never really been a fan of A-Rod. Don't get me wrong I hope he does well but he always struck me as a jerk and this mainly springs from the comments about Jeter a few years ago. I just read an article in my RSS here:

http://mobile.gothamist.com/2009/10/31/yankees_in_philly_boss_says_theyll.php

The significant quote is this:

"That glamour is why a former ex of Alex Rodriguez is talking to US Weekly, "He was so vain. He had not one, but two painted portraits of himself as a centaur. You know, the half man, half horse figure?" Another source says that the slugger and girlfriend Kate Hudson discuss their bedroom happenings "They love sex!. They talk about it all day. Kate gets graphic talking about his body, even to her parents.""

Every time I root for him stories like this pop up. That being said he is one hell of a player though I still would rather have Jeter.

Dude
It's not over yet:). One thing you "Fair Weather Fans" will never understand about us Philly fans is that we never give up ;) We've been there before...

There may be fireworks tonight and not the ones in the sky.

Not anymore there won't since both teams already got a warning. Contrary to McCarver, that HBP was intentional. 3HBP to Rodriguez in just over one game. Between Rollins arrogance (I wonder how that Phillies in 5 comment is working out for him) and HBPs, I hope the Phillies get their asses handed to them.

That means nothing. And it was stupid for the umps to warn the benches before the Yankees got a shot.

How were those 2 pitches not strikes.

It may not mean anything to Blanton since he sucks but CC won't. They need him too much. The only way that you'll see HBP by a Yankee is if it's a route.

It's is certainly too early to give up, even with a Philly loss tonight.

But a Philly win however would not only tie it a 2-2, but post wins against CC twice in the WS. That can be used as a psychological factor. But psychology and superstition aside, Philly will have to stick to their game plan and perform well. I can see rallies helping in one game, but over a series, the better team definitely wins. The team with the better hitting staff and better pitching staff, which NY seems to have, win more often than not.

New York, unfortunately, don't only seem to be better but way better. Upsets in the WS happen, but the chance of an upset is still alive, win or lose. But losing against the Yankees would be very bad.

I like the Philly's Lee on the mound during crunch time.

As for tonight, Philly has to hit off of Sabathia, and not swing at his very clever and deceptive outside and low pitches. NY has to commit errors, and Philly has to successfully steal bases on top of this for a Philly victory to happen. Only a nearly flawless Philly game is what it will take to beat CC and the Yankees.

Though CC and company lost last time, the pitcher still did not have a shabby night. I don't suspect CC will falter since he didn't falter the last time outside of the two HRs against him. Otherwise, he was having the Yankees swing and miss everything.

Wow, the umps be blind and mistaking Blanton for Roy Halliday. He is gettingthe benefit of a very nice strike zone while Sabathia is getting squeezed.

Nice to see the Yanks get up early though i like the lead to be a lil bigger ill take what i can get

The other side is how much do the Yankees give back in luxury taxes to the league.

Well, how much do they want to win??

You want to say A-Rod is a cheat fine, but name me any other players that we know are 100% clean? Can't do it can you.

hmm, Ken Griffey Jr., Tony Gwynn, Derek Jeter, Ichiro....

too bad Griffey got robbed of 3 years. I understand family comes first, but is he would've stayed in Seattle....
