they look unstoppable!

Being 19-20 in the last 39 games, getting swept by the Red Sox, and now have to worry about even making the wild card slot, the Yankees look quite stoppable now.

It was somewhat fine( but frustrating) when the Yankees couldn't beat the teams they should be beating( Orioles, Rays) but could beat the teams they need to be able to beat ( Astros, Indians, Red Sox). Now it's just pathetic. I don't know why when it comes to Yankees starting pitching, every year it becomes an issue despite having quality starters at least by their pre-Yankee stats. Moment the Yankee uniform gets put on they collapse or just get old and need to adjust their style( CC....).

It might be the manager.

On the Red Sox, I think one reason they have been doing well is because of their manager Cora.

I think half the battle is getting players to want to play hard :).

yanks have ok pitching and a very very young team that plays afraid.
Friday a pitcher had the ball, 1s t& 3,rd tied-
he had no idea what to when the runner ran to 2nd. so he stood there.
then the onslaught happened, the might have lost the division then.

I'm watching the bravos vs les exexpos

old quote from may, nothing to see here....

Right now the Red Sox are on fire. I can’t see them playing like this into October. They will cool off. The Yankees just need to keep pace and not give up anymore ground. Judge needs to get healthy if this team is going to have any chance.

the red sox are playing relentless without fear, but the astro are stick the team to beat tho
they keep on winning with 3 starters injured and have a solid and great starting 5.
also Houston can start 4 pitchers due to their schedule for the rest of august.

Jake DeGrom starts for the mets at 12 today, he is my cy young favorite.
the red can hut so that should be a good game, we hope!
too bad the A's play past my bedtime, they are i think 30-10 without any household all star names.
some think they catch the yankees for the first wild card.

If we were to enter the WS right now and Boston is in it, IMHO, they would kill pretty much any team in the NL right now. They are on fire. Holy smokes are they good right now.
Pump the brakes a bit. You still have 2 months to go.

Easy, I said right now... I didn't say at the end, at this moment in time. This is coming from a Yankee fan... They look really darn good and are finding ways to win games.
The Yankees have an easy 3 weeks playing under .500 teams. They just need to to their jobs and beat these teams. No excuses anymore.

cubbies vs exexpos live on planer earth now
anyone else look at these baseball player names, and they just dont stick in your memory?
i can name every player from 1975-2002 but can't name one A who is playing today besides Famila.

i hope California Angels catches fire too, like the northern part Oakland.
i just don't see a spark from their starting pitchers tho.

I can easily see the Red Sox playing the way they are currently playing right up to the playoffs. I'm curious if they will reach 116 wins this season.

The playoffs though are like a completely new season and anything can happen.

It looks like the Yankees will probably be playing the A's in the wildcard game. If they were playing today, I would pick the A's to beat the Yankees in the wildcard game.

That's when you have to worry about the Yankees.

Their record against poor teams isn't that good :).

The Red Sox have officially made the playoffs after last night's game. The magic number to clinch the AL east is 9 (any combination of 9 wins and 9 NY loses) with 17 or so games left.

Over the last month or so, the Red Sox have been mediocre and the Yankees could have caught up. The Yankees and the Red Sox have 6 games left so NY is not out of it yet.

The way Oakland is playing, I think there might be a better chance of the Yankees being the second wildcard team.

Preview of the offseason awards - thoughts on deGrom from the Mets winning the Cy Young? Best ERA in the NL, right up there in K's and most of the other individual stats, has strung together 27 straight starts of 6+ innings and allowing 3 or fewer runs (an MLB record). His only downfall is the W's, but that's more of a team stat, and he's done EVERYTHING you'd expect a starter to do to keep them in the game to win - including 2 consecutive games with 2 hits and 2 RBI.

@Centaurr thoughts on the David Wright announcement? I'm disappointed to see him have to hang it up for this reason but it's best for his health. I hope to see him continue on in baseball in SOME role, he is a GREAT role model for young players. If he eventually moves to a coaching position, I have a feeling it will only be with the Mets. There was also some hinting #5 may be retired (considering he holds many Mets records, it makes some sense).

The Red Sox won the AL east.

The AL should be very competitive in the World Series with the Red Sox, Houston, Cleveland, Yankees, and A's representing the AL in the playoffs.

Indeed most of those teams are good enough to go all the way to the Super Bowl

seriously, Yankees are scary good, Cleveland is great and has beaten the Red Sox this season, and what can we say about Houston, they're still very potent. I don't know about the A's though, I've not really followed them

Cleveland is the team I'm worried about as a Red Sox fan.

i am bummed too that he is retiring, he did alot for the Mets. he is a clutch player and all-star. i would also like for him to stay on the team but in the back office or coaching. #ThankYouCap #Mets

The Rockies made the playoffs in consecutive years for the first time! They still have a chance to win the NL West for the first time as well.

Looking forward to Rocktober!!

The Yankees set the single season home run record. Also the first team to have at lease 20 home runs from each spot of the order.

I don’t want to hear anything about the short porch, they just hit six in 2 days at Fenway.
