There seem to be 2 Chris's in this post, but I'm going to assume you mean me, since it was right after my post.... No, I've done NOTHING to enable this...no ipcc file, nothing. I'm running iTunes 8.2 on a MBP, so installing a custom ipcc isn't possible. Like I said earlier, I honestly don't know if the "Internet Tethering" setting was there on Friday when I got the 3GS, because I assumed AT&T wasn't allowing it yet, so I never checked. But I do know that the MMS toggle wasn't there, because I looked for it Friday.

Well there actually is a way to put an ipcc file on it with iTunes 8.2 ive done it.

But I believe you, and I want to restore so nothing modified is on mine and see if it shows up legitly. I just dont want to take the time to restore :/

Ok questions:
1)Are you on a 3GS?
2)Can i see a screenshot of you carrier settings
3)Did the little camera just pop up in you sms box out of nowhere?

Ok.
1) Yes, 32Gb White 3GS
2) Where exactly do you want a screen shot from? Just tell me and I'll get in on Imageshack and on here ASAP.
3) No, it did not appear until I set the MMS toggle to "ON"

Does anyone know if you can put the MMS package from their website logged in to your account?

Sorry, I shouldn't have said "it isn't possible". I've read that it is possible, but I haven't done it with the Terminal workaround, as I've read stories where it usually disables something when installing a ipcc currently (usually disables VVM it seems).

well i just called AT&T and there customer service is closed today....\\

who are you getting on the phone from AT&T to change your account settings ?

thanks !

It's in Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network.

That's what I was saying earlier when I said "it seems like the setting is half enabled". There is no "Cellular Data Network" tab in my Network settings. Look at the screen capture in my earlier post. It's not even there. I've also rebooted the phone after enabling the MMS toggle, and it still doesn't show up.

It would make sense that AT&T would not allow you to change the data network settings, so it makes sense that you don't see it.

Just called AT&T, i GOT MMS!!!

i can't send the mms messags...anyone else having this problem that got MMS enabled? mine keep giving me a red ! and if you tap it, it asks if you'd like to try and send it again...but never works.

My mms is sending, and receiving~!

Here's an interesting twist... When I set the "Internet Tethering" option to ON, it asked if I wanted bluetooth or USB only. I selected USB, as I have it connected to my MBP via the cable, then the "Network Preferences" pane popped up on my MBP, showing the new connection. Then, the screen blacked out on the iPhone, and when it came back on, the "Internet Tethering" setting was gone! See the screen cap below...

According to AT&T and I quote "ATT is not releasing MMS features until mid summer, some iPhone's are receiving a trial of MMS depending on there location" I asked is in available in my area? "ATT is not responsible for this feature until the it becomes available for all iPhones, right now APPLE is testing there app for it, so please call APPLE for that info"

I am calling BS b/c Apple is allowing other carriers to have MMS now, but ATT not til the end of summer.

Did anyone else get this?

From what AT&T told me, when its rolled out, you will get a Text Message direct from AT&T that MMS is now enabled on your iPhone. So I think the best thing is just to wait it out. Mucking around could mess up your account on their system. I could be wrong about that, but why take the chance and hassle of fixing a problem through AT&T if that happens.
