Most of it is working for me, bar a couple of things.

Firstly, is anyone having any success with setting up syncing on a Windows machine? After putting in my username and password in the MobileMe Preferences in Control Panel, I just get an "Unable to connect to MobileMe - Please try again later" error box. I'm not sure if this means that my connection is being blocked by my work network (and I'll be mighty annoyed if it is) or whether this feature is still experiencing a few issues. I have seen a few screenshots of people that seem to have logged in, I was wondering whether these people are just the lucky ones at the moment. I was really looking forward to having everything sync between my Mac at home, my iPhone, and my work computer - and if this isn't going to work I'll be very disappointed.

The other issue is with my mail on the webapp. Logs in ok, and I can view my inbox for about a second before this giant "Getting started with MobileMe" box pops up, covering my screen with no way of removing it, even after viewing the embedded quicktime video... This is on Firefox 3, can't get Ie7 to login to check if its the same there.

Again...

OK then.....

Well I got my 8gb 3G this morning (UK) and it's all setup. I registered for my MobileMe account and I can log in via System Prefs however I can't log in via the website through firefox or safari (Leopard 10.5.4)

Is this usual? Are others having website login probs?

Also the sync seems to be a bit problematic, I'm adding iCal stuff on my Macbook and have MobileMe set to auto sync in system prefs, does anyone know how often automatic sync actually is? Of course having no web app access at the moment I don't know how often they're going up to the servers. They really aren't going to the phone very often though so maybe the push from the server isn't working too well (Push is turned on in Mail, Contact and Calendar options.)

Is this typical of what people are seeing?

Cheers
Dan

I have found now that Safari (mac) works OK, but Webkit nightly builds do not allow the buttons to work even though the page loads. This may be because Webkit disables some Safari plugins when launched and they actually may be needed for me.com to run correctly.

As of now, I have photo galleries up, my mail is pushing, and my iCal is up to date with me.com and my iphone.

All is slow, but that is to be expected for now.

All in all this is a disaster. What with 02 & MobileMe I'm not holding out much chance now and may bypass this current upgrade and be happy with 2.0 firmware and the apps that I downloaded last night. Maybe I should do the sensible thing and wait for the 32 gig. Still good news that you can have exchange & MobileMe calendars.

And...

My ultimate goal was to use Entourage for my contacts/calendar and have them sync to AB and iCal then to the cloud and then my phone. All of that works like a charm. Only thing I have to do manually is in Entourage, add the newly added event to the House project so my family sees it.

Eventually I will move all events/contacts to Mac apps and stop using Entourage for them.

Right now though...pretty slick.

Mac to iPhone syncing seems to be the only feature that isn't working correctly for everybody. Web Calendar to iPhone seems to work like a charm (mine's sucking right now, but I believe it's because I'm at work and my office is a blackhole for EDGE service), as does Web Contact to iPhone. Push E-mail is working great, too.

All Push services involving an actual computer though seem to be having issues right now.

Still not up?

Hmm. I was thinking about buying today, but......

I tried to hit http://www.mac.com 30 minutes ago I got the page saying it was not up yet. now I get nothing and my browser just sits. I bet they are getting hammered.

I never worked at a company where there were not glitches the first day of roll out. Most places I have seen where a slow switch over occurs, not massively switching everyone at once.

guess I will wait another couple of days before buying to see how this all plays out, bet Jobs is not too happy right now. Sprint also launched their Samsung smart phone today, which rivals the iphone (comes with case, extra battery, home charger, mobile charger, and more and only $99). The news companies locally have been airing it and making compares to the iphone. Some are even predictiing the iphone launch will not be as spectacular as people hoped.

Between this and mobileme having its glitches, I have a feeling the news corps will be having its rantings articles and posting negative things which may make stocks slide.

Come on Apple. :apple: We know you can pull this off.

On another note, what is up with MS? Since Ballmer officially took over and Gates last day, my XP machines have been getting updates pushed everyday (or yesterday 3 updates - one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and another sometime late last night).

The Apple Vs. MS race is on and heating up....

push working in UK (for now)

Push working for me here in UK though web site dropping in and out though as with others desktop to mobileme is via .mac sync

Thanks DoreanGrae, that sounds like my situation - adding things on a mac and waiting for them to appear on the iPhone.

I really wish I could even log into the web apps.... I just get invalid username/password combination even though that same combination gets me into the MobileMe prefs pane just fine........

On the .Mac support site however it does say there are issues with web apps so maybe theyre still activating the service for all the accounts and as mine is a new account this morning they haven't got to me yet...

So any one on trial account who can get the Push working on a Mac? I heard on iPhone it is working but what about the Mac and on PC?

I am unable to get it working on either one.

Any one?

He/she shouldn't have to. A free trial should be a free trial. Plain and simple. If people like it, they'll buy it. Just my opinion...

i'm sure this is to keep people from signing up 50 different accounts with every version of their name or their online handle or whatever else they can think of and let legit customers get the name they want first.

it won't let me log in to the web app!!!!!! aaarrrggggghhhh....

i always get incorrect user name or password, which it isn't!!

From work, I get:

Code:
nslookup www.me.com

Non-authoritative answer:
www.me.com	canonical name = www.me.com.edgesuite.net.
www.me.com.edgesuite.net	canonical name = a1917.g.akamai.net.

The problem from home is due to an old DNS cache:

nslookup www.me.com

Nope, see my post above - can't get anything to work on my PC. MobileMe Preferences just tells me it cannot connect when I put in my username and password.

I'm using a 2Mb cable connection and it's all running at a good speed using Safari 3 on Tiger.

If it stays at this speed, I'll be happy.

Yeah it was running like a champ at home this morning with Safari 3 and Leopard. Here at work though, not so much. Not surprised. This computer blows on an epic level.

I was able to log-in using MobileMe Preferences in control panel on PC from my office this afternoon but it would not push any data.

Now I am at home and it is not Pushing on my Mac as well. :(
