OK then.....

Well I got my 8gb 3G this morning (UK) and it's all setup. I registered for my MobileMe account and I can log in via System Prefs however I can't log in via the website through firefox or safari (Leopard 10.5.4)

Is this usual? Are others having website login probs?

Also the sync seems to be a bit problematic, I'm adding iCal stuff on my Macbook and have MobileMe set to auto sync in system prefs, does anyone know how often automatic sync actually is? Of course having no web app access at the moment I don't know how often they're going up to the servers. They really aren't going to the phone very often though so maybe the push from the server isn't working too well (Push is turned on in Mail, Contact and Calendar options.)

Is this typical of what people are seeing?

I wonder if it's the brand new trial accounts that are unable to log in?
 
I was able to log-in using MobileMe Preferences in control panel on PC from my office this afternoon but it would not push any data.

Now I am at home and it is not Pushing on my Mac as well. :(

Was it easy to connect or did you have to keep trying? Mine won't even make a connection. :(

I can't wait to see what ind of boondonggle this causes........

I almost feel sorry for them.. I imagine every apple engineer in the world has had their ass kicked for a week now, add this to it, now add the iphone launch today.........

it was not working for me as well but then i read in this thread that it is working so i tried and it worked. before it was show same message as yours that it is not available so try later.

It's a little after 10am on Friday in NYC and I'M STILL GETTING the "Me.com is unavailable" message while trying to log on to get my email. Tried with Firefox and even downloaded Safari (I'm on a - ugh - windows machine at work)/ either way no difference. "we're hoping to have the site up and running by 4am PCT?? What a load of crap!

Thank goodness for mail2web or else I'd seriously be screwed.

I don't feel sorry for them. Everything today has been a screwup. The iPhone activations have been messed up. MobileMe doesn't work, and when it does, parts of it are borked. Lastly, the iPod Touch firmware update doesn't work.

This is unacceptable.

I was getting the same error so I decided to try changing my password. I followed the "Forgot Password" link and changed the password. After clicking the "Change Password" button AppleID (hmmmm...my Developer and Store password and not the .Me password?), I was redirected to this page with a reference to the Apple Store Japan (I'm sitting in Kansas).

Yeah, I guess this is like that MS screwup from a few years where Gates was giving a keynote and nothing worked, or Vista (yes, I have used it!!!), but I feel like this is Apple of the early 90's here.

I know they will get it together, and perhaps it is more complicated than we know....

But I wish someone from Apple would address the issue more than just "its coming".... my .02

Cool, thanks. I was hoping it would be up before I leave for the weekend otherwise I will have to wait until Monday to test it out (assuming it works by that time!) :eek:

that's pretty weird. kansas is a long way from japan! ;)

i tried resetting my password too, to no avail. i know i'm entering the correct one because i'm able to sync to the cloud from system prefs but no matter what i try, i can;t get into the web interface.

were you a .mac member, or is your mobileme account new/trial?
 
This is very annoying for people like me who rely on a Web site I set up at dot mac dot com. I can't edit anything on my homepage (http://homepage.mac.com/rest of URL). I don't even use an iPhone so I don't need all that extra functionality.
I haven't been able to edit my Web site, add photos, etc. It is now Friday July 11 at 10:10 a.m. New York time.

I had the same thing, although part of it was I didn't notice it said type your Apple ID or Mobile Me username. Anyway, I changed my password to the same thing, and the account clearly exists, but it still didn't let me in. Same Japan thing, too.
 
How to reactivate your old .mac account without a retail box

I had an old trial .mac account and I did not renew it before the mobile me launch. I could login into mobile.me with my old account but I saw no option to reactivate my account without an activation code from a .mac or mobile.me retail box. I found that by going to https://secure.me.com/wo/WebObjects/Signup.woa/wa/upgrade you can upgrade your old expired .mac/mobile.me account via a CC and keep your same username with out going to the store and buying an empty box with an activation code.
 
Well, it's working for me albeit slowly. However, how do I update the system preference interface? I've tried software update and that says I'm up to date. I've tried syncing, but that just runs without issue so how do I???
