leopard mobileme updater?

got it yesterday, could install it on my imac, tried to install it on my macbook today, can't find it anywhere?

anybody else?

thanks - fussal

Yeah, I guess this is like that MS screwup from a few years where Gates was giving a keynote and nothing worked, or Vista (yes, I have used it!!!), but I feel like this is Apple of the early 90's here.

I know they will get it together, and perhaps it is more complicated than we know....

But I wish someone from Apple would address the issue more than just "its coming".... my .02

It's not good enough. If Apple had said "We need to delay for a week", I would have been annoyed, but would have understood.

Releasing like this is the work of amateurs. Not telling your customers what is happening is even worse. At least if they'd said "It won't be up until 5 tomorrow" people could have made other plans.

I can accept one thing not going well, but when none of it works that's just evidence of poor organization and incompetence.

People expect better from Apple customer service.

MobileMe is working for me. Did a change on the calander and it updated instantly on my phone. Woot!

Holy Crap!!`

I finally was able to log onto "me.com". Was able to read email. Then I went to reply to a message. After typing my reply when I hit "send" I got a "me.com server not responding" error...

this is infuriating

seriously how long has apple been preparing for this?

This has got to be the single worst software release apple have made in history... You don't release software, bring it down, put it up, bring it down, put it up, etc... I'm gobsmacked! One would think that they tested it first... :(

Mail has no filters just as the old, it's unresponsive, it's really for the fuss they made about it is quite rubbish no matter how pretty it looks... I reckon even MS are laughing their arses off.

blame it on the secrecy, again

This is probably another case where the Lord God Jobs' obsession with secrecy screws over the customers.

Imagine if Apple had public betas to actually find these problems before release....

I'm up and running on MobileMe, checking email and all the other tabs, but it's slow. I guess they're still ironing out bugs, so while this isn't really satisfactory performance, I'm still hopeful that it will be up and running great soon.

that's pretty weird. kansas is a long way from japan! ;)

i tried resetting my password too, to no avail. i know i'm entering the correct one because i'm able to sync to the cloud from system prefs but no matter what i try, i can;t get into the web interface.

boo.

were you a .mac member, or is your mobileme account new/trial?

I'm a .mac member. I was originally trying to log in using Safari 4.0. When I changed to FireFox, I was able to enter my current .mac password and change it.

I'm now being logged into MobileMe (the window title bar has my account name in it), though I've been at the "loading" wheel for more than 5 minutes.

The iPhone update is going about as well. Bricked phones all over the place because the iTunes activation servers are borked, and Apple stores are sending customers home with phone to activate later.

Good job. It just works!

At least it gets past loading for you.. It's really horrendous. I'm stunned! It's not about secrecy. You should always load-test your software... As a development manager, if I released software like that in the state it is, I would lose my job, my company would be in breach of all it's contracts especially as we are required 99.9% up time, apple would have used all their time up by now!

just out of curiosity, will the MobileMe updater appear in software update for those who aren't .Mac/MobileMe subscribers?

Yes, it would be an anomaly for some people to have .mac icons in their system preferences when the service is now officially mobileme (or will be when it gets airborne).

Logged in for trial period. Followed instructions - and synced but my mail/contacts/calendar do not appear to have been synced to the web as no date is appearing on me.com. Anyone else with this problem?

Wow, my MobileMe box that I purchased back in mid-June arrived this morning. What excellent timing Apple.

Now if you can just pass me along the software update I'd be much appreciative.

I`m .mac member and i cannot access me.com too! I get the message, that my loginname und password aren`t correct! It`s really crazy because i`ve got no trouble with logging in on the iphone and mobileme sysprefs... arrrghhh

In my System Preferences, I still have .Mac showing, but with new, improved storage space (10 gb x 10 gb). No MobileMe updater available via Software Update yet.

Looks to me like they're SLOWLY making progress on this deployment. I'm guessing there are going to be a bunch of people working over the weekend.

Apple does not guarantee uptime.

Indeed not, but what does it say about you, when you bring down something like that for nearly two days and provide a conistently bad experience to paying users...

If you are going to bring something down, leave it down until you are 100% certain it will stay up, don't keep flicking the switch to have it online if it keeps failing...

It would look a lot better if they took it down and did not bring it up until they put some more beef behind it.

only safari 3

Somewhere in the account status page is a link taking you to a page which tells you what browsers MobileMe is compatible with, it says Safari 3 and firefox 2 and 3. That may be why my buttons don't work in Safari 4 ..

I don't have the mobileme update yet, and I can no longer find the link for it on macrumours, hopefully it wil turn up soon.

it's taken firefox out totally a couple of times, I assume that's because it's using some persistent connection to the server which is having serious trouble staying up and that is just killing the browser.

Looks like MobileMe stretches web 2.0 technology to the limit and .. we're not quite there yet.

I have been able to access MobileMe for about an hour now. Everything seems to work, though it is really slow. The only part I can't get into is account settings, at which point it says MobileMe is unavailable.

I am still waiting for the software update to switch everything on my mac to MobileMe.
