Ok to all the guys who are confused about push services or want to know why its not working..
First of all, push service is for only iphone/ipod touch and web apps. Not for macs/PCs. For macs/PCs its the same syncing service that was available in .Mac system preferences.

I think you may be in error here. As it says on the MobileMe page (http://www.apple.com/mobileme/features/) under "Push email. Push contacts. Push calendar.", which has been quoted earlier in this thread:

MobileMe stores all your email, contacts, and calendars in the cloud and pushes them down to your iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, and PC. When you make a change on one device, the cloud updates the others. Push happens automatically, instantly, and continuously. You don’t have to wait for it or remember to do anything — such as docking your iPhone and syncing manually — to stay up to date.

Also, check out the accompanying video about it in that section.

Clearly, Push just isn't pushing correctly (yet), albeit rather sporadically for some, to or from Macs and PC's.

Seems to me that they're probably more worried that the iPhone pushes correctly at the moment. I'm sure they'll get to the Mac/PC push once they've got everything stable. But it clearly says that Push will work with Macs and PCs.

I'd consider it a little shady if all they're really doing on the Mac/PC side is automatic syncing, yet selling it like that in the description above. Time will tell.

i just installed mobileme update 1.1 using software update,i was trying software update but it always telling me there is no update, so i installed the
first mobileme update (1.0 the leaked one) then i opened software update
and mobileme 1.1 was there.
Thanks, that worked!!

Am I the only one that still has the .Mac icon in System Preferences instead of the MobileMe icon. Just wondering if I missed something. I'm running 10.5.4 like Im supposed to.

Nope - the ones who don't have it - got a software update elsewhere.

I doubt Apple will release the software update until it actually has the service up and running properly.

First of all, push service is for only iphone/ipod touch and web apps. Not for macs/PCs. For macs/PCs its the same syncing service that was available in .Mac system preferences.
So, if you create an event or contact or whatever on your mac/PC, it will not show up in either iPhone/iPod touch or the web apps untill your mac/PC syncs it. For different persons the settings for sync is different. First of all make sure sync is turned on in the system preferences under MobileMe/.Mac settings. Then, if you want your mac to sync the events or contacts every 5 mins, set it to automatic. If you want to do manual syncing or syncing in the intervals of every hour, every day or every week, set it accordingly.
Now for those of you who said that they created something on their mac and it didn't show up in the web app or vice versa, follow the above steps and if its set to automatic, wait for it to sync or click the sync now button and you will see everything on your web app, iphone/pod touch and mac in sync.

While I appreciate your attempt at educating me, I think you are wrong. It's been widely known that the idea is for MobileMe to push to both iPhone/Touch and Mac/PC. "Exchange for the rest of us." I should be able to create an event in iCal and immediately see it on my iPhone and webapp. I should be able to make a contact on my iPhone and immediately see it on my Mac and webapp. And I should be able to send a picture to my webgallery and also see it on my iPhoto webgallery. In other words, I should not have to sync at all. That was the whole point of it.

I had this problem when i had .Mac and it wasnt a big issue, but now it is.

How to switch off the warning which says, more than 5% (whatever percent) of your data will be changed, do you wanna sync?. In the PC, there is an option in the MobileMe Preferences to turn it off. For the Mac, is there any because it is annoying.

Thanks

After the update, i noticed that Changes in Calender in the Web get pushed to my mac within 1min. However, the opposite is not true, yet. It is sync and not Push.

For the Pc it is real sync and not Push, even from the web to PC and PC to web.

how do i know if i have mobile me 1.0 or 1.1?
I downloaded the link i found in this thread. It changed the icon in my system preferences - but did NOTHING in my mail. all references to .mac are still there in mail.

That setting is in the iSync preferences.

The push function seems to be working great on both my touch and iPhone. If I create a new calendar event or update a contact on one device, it pushes it to the other. It takes about 20 seconds and I'm not sure if that delay is normal but it seems to work. I guess all I need now as an update for my iMac and MacBook Pro to tie the whole experience together nicely.

I hope this might help some people with issues.

I have a windows laptop, an iPhone 3G, and a MobileMe account.

I had been having troubles the same as alot of people, with getting the 'push' side of things working.

I have since been able to solve (most) of my troubles, here's what I did:

I deleted the MobileMe account from my iPhone and re-setup my MobileMe account (after restarting my phone).
I deleted the .me account from outlook, then re-setup the account.
If you go to settings>mail, contacts, calendars>mobile me on the iPhone and ensure all boxes are set to on (I noticed that the 'Mail' one kept going back to 'off' once I left the settings then going back, a reset of the phone cured that).

Now what I have is, MobileMe website and iPhone push together nicely, although going to calendar on MobileMe site does give an error:

Calendar Error
MobileMe Calendar could not start because it was unable to load any calendars from the server. Try reloading Calendar. If this problem persists, contact MobileMe Support.

But clicking 'go to MobileMe support' closes the error and I can see my calendar events.

The only issue left is the MobileMe preferences for windows crashes after a while. It will not push any changes made within outlook, but email sent from outlook will push as it goes directly to the servers anyway, whereas calendars and contacts don't.
I believe the problems with outlook are due to a problem with the MobileMe preferences app that comes with itunes 7.7, this is obviously something we cannot fix ourselves and hope on an update for that.

This solved most of my problems of iPhone to MobileMe and vice versa, and maybe worth trying yourselves. Good luck.

It's trying to work. I make a change to an event on the web calendar and a few seconds later I see the sync icon .. synching, however the change doesn't actually make it to iCal on the mac. Similarly the other way, make the change, icon revolves but the web doesn't update.

You have to current go to the sync icon, hit 'sync now' and things update, although you still have to reload the webpage on mobileme to see the change, which I think is also wrong, I think it's supposed to update.

Appears that synching isn't even vaguely working between mac and mobileme which is rather sad as that was kind of the whole POINT of the thing.

ok then there are some definite improvements today (UK here btw)

If I add a contact on the web (I can now login after changing my password) then it's on my phone and mac about 30 secs later.

However going the other way ie adding things on phone/mac and that pushing to the servers is still a bit dodgy.

They seem to be getting there but this definitely feels like a beta test. When will Apple just do a public test - even with 5000 users or so many of these bugs could have been ironed out months ago. There's always going to be chaos as the old system was migrated - it's inevitable but the bugs could have been ironed out by now.

They pulled the MM software...

This is quite a mystery. I have never gotten the MM update through SU. In the back of mind I keep thinking someone at Apple actually forgot to post it and never will. :(
Just got off the phone with MM tech support. Couldn't believe they were taking calls... They said there were a few problems with the software (ya think!) and they have pulled it. It will be re-released shortly. I asked how soon, he said they were hoping for today.

I got the new Phone last night and it's working perfectly, and MM is syncing and pushing perfectly on my MacBook. However, the software didn't make it to my iMac and my husband's 1st gen phone syncs to that. The tech said turn off syncing until the software re-release.

Same here. Are there not supposed to be changes in iPhoto as well. Like the We Gallery icon changing? Also, Sys. Pref. still tell me I have 10G of space. Must be another update coming.

Interesting they're saying to turn things off.... Not a good sign!

I just got some push mail to my iPhone for the first time although it doesn't seem to want to sync back to mobileme when I delete the message on the iPhone. Intermittent is definitely the word at the moment!

Everyone pounding the servers can't be helping either. Would love to be a fly on the wall in the network operation centre today - must be chaos in there.

On the plus side when it comes to mail, my work Exchange server push works fantastically - Apple seem to have implemented that part of 2.0 very well - oh waiy a minute that's because they have been beta testing it with Disney etc.

Spot the difference -
Apple ActiveSync - beta tested and working well
MobileMe - blind tested and busted

Slow

Youall must be hitting it hard this morning. the web interface is a slow as anything...... Take forever to load.

Still not syncing my calendar on my outlook. Of course like I said last night, I have exchange and mobile me - so I am probably confusing outlook.

I don't think I want to set up my mac yet :(

mobileme and addressbook

has anyone gotten addressbook and mobileme to work via push - i.e. if i make a change in my computer's addressbook that it automatically pushes the change to the iphone. i have to always manually sync on my computer to get it to change in the cloud. does this make sense?

A wrong setting somewhere?

My web calender only shows all day events. Any event I have a date assigned to does not show up . Is there a setting somewhere to make this work? I do not think I have push working on mine yet but have not upgraded to 2.0 to test it out yet with my iPhone

About the only thing working this morning on the web interface is idisk, everything else is stuck in infinate loading. Last night I was makin some headway on my PC and thought i could set up my mac today.

Hmm.. How manyout there in apple land slamming these servers? Can we say "should've upgraded the servers and have idisk on one, mail and contacts on another, etc" Could be done you just have the links go to that page and seems seemless for the user..... plus you use some back engine to link everything together... The key I see, where ever these servers are located:

1. DO they have the bandwith?
2. How manu CPU's Core Duo shows as 2. How many physical CPU chips.
3. How much memory.

I work for a software company supporting MS-SQL installations, you cannot run MS-SQL on a machine that only has 1-2 gig of ram (well, you could but you better have a small hospital and not use SQL that much). I see people load down there servers all the time and performace is terrible.

Hope that's not the case here?

They didnt buy so much ram because apple RAM is so expensive, i guess that could be it.;)

When I get on www.me.com I can only see my iDisk all of the links for Mail, Contacts, Photos, and all other links on the page don't work. Is anyone else having this issue? It also might help to know I'm running Safari 4.0 Dev Preview. It's pretty annoying that this new feature still isn't operational with all the hype surrounding it, if it's not Safari 4.0 causing the issue.

Why is it that when I log into me.com from the web, it automatically takes me to idisk? Not that I don't use that feature, but if I'm logging on from the web more likely than not I want to check my email and not look at what's on my idisk. Can I change that somehow?
