What do you call the MBA?
A thin MacBook? A 13 inch PDA with less ports than a proper PDA? A huge youtube viewer? A heavy weight non-pocketable Pocket-PC?
What do you call the MBA?
When the $1299 and $1499 MacBooks won't have any FireWire, that would be a complete rip-off at that price-point. Many older Mac users who want to trade in their Apple notebook and who do have FireWire peripherals won't be able to buy a cheap Mac notebook newer style. Also new-to-Mac persons who have older or recent DV and HDV camcorders won't be able to connect them to their new MacBooks, if FireWire rumors hold true. These people will have to buy an old style white MacBook.
I'm still hoping to see a combo Ethernet/FireWire port (S800T), as every Mac seems to be moving towards FireWire 800 only. The 20" iMac even gained FireWire 800, whereas the white had two FireWire 400 ports. So with this new technology, Apple could reduce one port, while gaining FireWire speed.
Yeah. If this is going to be another soft, lame and underwhelming update like the last one with the Nano IV and the Touch II, people are gonna start wondering if Apple has lost all their innovation momentum and are stalling for time.I'm hoping Steve pulls a price drop out of his back pocket, or else stocks are going to fall like crazy...
Maybe Apple are holding back on the 17" so they can do something like the following with the extra keyboard real eastate...

Ah yes, the new MacBook Suck. I think I heard of that.

No.
Remember how when the first MacBook Pro was just introduced? It was a 15", and at the time the 12" and 17" PowerBooks were still being sold... Same story here, First the 15" is introduced, then a month or two later the 17" will be.

12" PowerBook G4 owners will understand what I'm talking about.

Here's My Speculation on why the switch to Glass:
Maybe the glass, being inflexible and solid, will make the whole trackpad depress-able, and the whole thing can act as a button (maybe 2 depending on which side of the trackpad you push in?). Then they could do away with the space consuming button.

But probably not, shame.

They were confirmed legit by AppleInsider, and keep in mind that we've been playing this game several times now, and the skeptics have lost every time.I honestly think a lot of this last minute speculation is pretty wild. Those "confirmed" macbook pro photos feel very... well, not worthy of confirmation, that's for sure.
This would all be fine if apple offered better choices for customisation. Don't like glossy screens? Tell apple you want the choice to opt for matte, they wont bother diversifying customisation options unless people demand it..
I hope the glossy only is the wrong information.
I'm a professional photographer and I use a macbook *PRO* to do my work, which cannot be achieved with a screen that enhances reality.
I do no know *any* photographer doing editing on a glossy screen. This would be a serious limitation.
I sold my matte MBP just yesterday, knowing I would always have the option to re-buy the 'old' one at a discounted rate.... I may just have to do this as all the new features are offset by this glossy screen :-(
No matte screen on the MacBook Pro???? Time to say goodbye to Apple for me. It was nice as long as it lasted.
Guess this is my last post on this forum.
Bye, bye.
