Everyone that I know shops for computers at Wal-mart
Other than people who live in the middle of nowhere (hicks), who gets a computer from Wal-Mart?
If anything, the average PC user gets it from Best Buy.

In the business sector - where the real mass volumes are sold - Apple still is not a player.
That graph says it all. The writing's on the wall.![]()

my class, last day.
MS IS DEAD. DELL IS DEAD. IT'S TIME TO PUT THE LAST NAILS IN THEIR COFFINS. GO APPLE!
Am I the only one thinking open laptops in any class but a computer one are more a distraction from studies / lectures than otherwise?
We're already using Windows 7 today though. What is this waiting you speak of?

As people realize that the "Laptop Hunter" ads from Microsoft point out the poor value of Apples, this will slide too.
One data point, and the fanbois have a collective orgasm!
By the way, note from the same source:

Easy to infer that desktops are dead and gone, no?
I would have to say that luring incoming university students into a macbook with a free iPod is a better business strategy than trying to aggressively enter the corporate space.
if growing unit market share through entering such highly-competitive areas comes at an expense to revenue market share, then Apple should start to be criticized.
Because not a single one of us wants to see Apple go 'Pro' for real, do we?

But but. I hated Vista, even before it came outYou MS pundits said the same thing when Vista came out..."a great evolutionary step over Win XP", "Aero Glass is beautiful", "OEMs are gonna adopt it en masse", blablabla...
360 has a fair share in the console market. Wii only dominates due to the casual gamers, remember that. "Hardcore" gamers buy the 360 normally. PS3 if they want a paperweight for when they don't wanna play MGS4 or watch a Blueray movie. 360 HAS made it, just because it's not the leader of this console generation doesn't mean, even after all the red rings, that MS aren't getting a profit. And you keep saying Win7 will be a failure compared to Snow Leopard, will it really? I don't see companies and schools switching en masse to and Mac OS. I don't see the typical man buying macs. They're still buying laptops and PC's with them on, which run Vista. Companies have gradually upgraded to Vista. Vista honestly didn't flop, MS reported that they actually gained money because except for most just us select few discussing this, or are IT technicians etc., a lot of people don't care. I've said this repeatedly to my mum "Vista would be fine for you as you don't actually do anything major on the computer, unlike me".XBox 360 didn't make it, Vista didn't make it, Winblows tablets didn't make it, the Zune didn't make it...just like WMD in Iraq, we're still waiting for them to appear...and Windows 7 is gonna be just that...a forethought for those playing with their new iPhones and Grand Central-powered Snow Leopard.
Sorry, I do believe a Mac kernel was shown to be hacked in just a few minutes. Yes, MS has problems with Viruses and Hackers, and you pretty much stated why, because it's the main system. In a hypothetical world, where IBM backed the early Mac, where do you think Mac's would be? Ah yes! Riddled with viruses and hackers! And if people start switching en masse to macs. What do you think's going to happen? Ah yes! (More)Viruses for macs! The brainless masses will always be the brainless masses. And I say great. Let the PC manufacturers beat each other to a bloody pulp to eke out a few bucks profit on each flimsy plastic computer peddling Microsoft's mediocre unimaginative (soft)wares while Apple enjoys healthy profits as a design-oriented niche player, which BTW leaves us less vulnerable to hackers and baddies (don't forget to run your virus scan tonight...).
Any software os geniuses here? I ask as I have a of I booted up lately disk not defragged, and wondered why the is is such a bog down. Using XP and all I hear is the hd going errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr taking forever to do something. I forgot just the workflow or waiting, how tedious it us compared to OS ten. Seriosky, I don't know how PC users can sit around and wait so much
Making sure I have all the right drivers, and am using a program called jetdefrag to see if this helps. Updated the gpu driver only to have windows boot to 4 bit low red. Nvidia 7600 dual dvi out. Had to roll back the driver. Why am I not surprised. ??
Victory is ours.
My school went 100% Mac after the vista lunch. All the PC then to the garbage.

Well said, we heard the same crap before they released Vista.Uh-huh. Riiiight. We've been hearing "Apple is going to have serious problems when Windows (insert version here) comes out." Heard it for Vista, and XP, and . . . well that's about it. MS can't even get two decent operating systems out the door in nearly nine years. Maybe NEXT_VERSION will do it. All the Vista testers were falling all over themselves praising it to the skies during the betas and somehow, mysteriously, it garnered Windows ME status right quick. I suppose Stockholm syndrome-suffering Windows testers have a tendency to take their brains out of their head and put it on the table when doing their testing.
Wait until Windows 7 hits the shelves, and maybe this time Apple will have serious problems. You know, like the kind MS has had . . . seeing its market share plunge from 96%+ to 88.9% in less than three years; its browser share tank; it's stock value eroding steadily, etc. It still sells a lot "stuff" though, that runs on other cheap "stuff", if that's any consolation.
Come back 6-10 months after Windows 7 hits the shelves and THEN tell us about who has problems. Knowing MS they'll find some way to half-ass this release too. Imagine that . . . XP still not dead well into Windows 7's release. LOL!
Looks like what I see here at UCSB.
