Take off your apologist shades so you can see "assembled in China" "Huapu Technology (Changshu) Inc".

All I did was make an observation ... I'm not apologizing or an apologist for anyone.

And if it isn't already known, you can have a product made in X country and assembled in Y country.

Good grief... make an observation and the frothing at the mouth haters start screaming APOLOGIST!!!!!

Edit: http://www.zdnet.com/article/samsung-to-use-apples-main-battery-supplier-for-note-7-report/ Looks like it is made in china?

Edit2: (iPhone 9 battery supplier) https://www.cnbc.com/2017/07/20/apple-iphone-9-batteries-to-be-supplied-by-lg-chem-report-says.html

And I bet you will IF they start exploding...

Agreed, I'd expect the same as well.

Thank god I didn’t jump on the iPhone 8 which is clearly a gen1 product.

Apple will have sorted all these issues out by the time the X arrives.

;)

Finally! An end to all the anti-Note 7 battery BS here...there is finally an iPhone 8 battery screw-up. Waiting for apologies from those bashing the Note 7 for it's battery issues in 3...2...1...crickets.

Hopefully by next week, the iPhone 8 will be banned from commercial airlines. :)

Why don't you just get off this site. Are you 12?

Wow...just...wow. I switched from a Note 7 back to Apple and picked up the iPhone 7 Plus last year because of the whole Note 7 fiasco. Now it's happening again?! Unbelievable. When are they going to concentrate on making batteries better and safer for consumers instead of slimming the bezels???

This is Karma's way of punishing apple for using the same design for the 4th time. I don't know why people even bothered buying the iPhone 8. They're better off keeping or getting a 7

Please let me call it BULGE-GATE!

Not a good thing - it's almost like they said "we need a battery of these specs but don't exceed the power capacity by THIS number."

Then at the battery factory:

"We have to exceed the power capacity by THIS number they specified."

Unfortunate.

That's the thing. Apple didn't even change the design. It's the same as last year so why the issue? Note 7 was an all new design and they tried stuffing a giant battery in there. So it's understandable they had issues with something they never tried before.

But with Apple it's no excuse. It's the same as the 3 previous iPhones.

True...to an extent. They did go back to a glass back, so there was at least one external design change. However, I can agree that the exterior of the new phone is basically the same as the 7. Internal design is a whole 'nother ball game. Quite a few things changed internally. You think they just added wireless charging and called it a day? Lol

Maybe the battery supplier also changed. Anyone know?

Clear case sales are going to sky rocket. Case manufacturers are going to rename them as "TSA approved" and increase the price of their clear cases.

Still not everyone would do it

Clear cases collect crud like no other/yellow if they're TPU and not hard plastic

And for people who like OFFICIAL cases, apple doesn't offer any in clear

Then there's always "human error" -- even if everyone had clear cases or went naked phone, there would always be "that guy" that's having difficulty distinguishing between the glass back and jet black models, etc etc

Would be NO fun at all

I expect the same vitriol towards Apple on this forum when this was an issue for Samsung.
With an apparent even split on this site between Apple fans and haters, I expect it to be a draw :D

In earnest, in the Samsung Note7 case, the fire and explosion hazards were in all instances caused by short-circuiting of terminals due to either missing insulation tape, or a lack of space between the protective pouch and the battery's internals, or sharp protrusions inside the cell, all of these conditions ultimately resulting in the same hazardous outcomes.

At this point we don't know yet if the 8+ problems are caused by a design flaw on Apple's part, or if the premature swelling is a result of simply defective batteries supplied by third parties, which begs the question: How far should manufacturers go in testing, and rigorous and continuous, monitoring of components supplied by others, that go into their final products?

Lawyers have a problem with anything. If there was money to be made from suing the Wind they would do.
It does not therefore mean that the case has merit, just that the Lawyers think so.
There have bene cases in the US where a person goes to a dinner party hosted by their friend who fails to serve non alcoholic drinks. The guest then sues their friend because they were then forced to drink and drive.

So trust me, Lawyers often serve the cases that serve them, not justice or the truth

Much like people such as you tried to do with the Note 7 farce.
Yay! I have my own personal attack fan! Welcome to MR and enjoy your stay!

Please, enlighten me about what I did during the Note 7 "farce." Shall I share with you the letters and dialogue I had directly with the CPSC? Because I have all the records, emails and recorded phone conversations. I ran it up the chain to Samsung's Executive level management because they were very slow to have a return procedure (ordered directly from Samsung.com/Digital River). I also have the dialogue from a CA attorney's office that I was working with for a class action. Didn't go anywhere since Samsung "addressed it,", but I was doing my best to hold Samsung accountable during both recalls. I had two Note 7's sitting in my home for nearly a month with no way to return them. That was not safe.

So yah, Apple may be in real trouble here. Just the facts. Hope it works out for them as I own Apple stuff too. No fanboy my friend, I don't tow a company line like most teenagers/millennials do here.

Battery expanding, venting and potential thermal runaway are extremely dangerous. This is no game my friend...especially at 35k feet, sealed in a pressurized tube.

But keep schooling me I guess...and I'd be curious what I did to help Samsung "sweep this under the rug." If getting a call from Tim Baxter's executive office counts, then sign me up...because that happened.

I'd hate to say it, but releasing this lazy ass design on top of a new phone with a design (kind of) people actually wanted but overpriced like crazy is karma for them. Trying to ride that wave and cram in chit Samsung has had for years, when all of us were sitting here thinking they were taking their time crafting new features that would blow androids out of the water.

They give us: FACE ID, something no one ever asked for. LOL
