mac rumors theme

Like a circle in a spiral
Like a wheel within a wheel
Never ending clicks on ‘refresh’
On an ever-spinning reel
Like a Tuesday spent in Hades
Reading all the forum posts
Waiting for the Store to open
Turning all our brains to toast
Like a clock whose hands are crawling
Past the minutes of its face
And the world’s on hold for Apple
And we spin through cyberspace
As more insane we grow
Waiting for the MacBook Pro

here is a feature i think most everybody has missed:

will the new mbp feature wireless usb?

my dream machine:

15" gunmetal black macbook pro 1920x1200 screen
2.8ghz or some form of quadcore mobile
4gb min ram
geforce go 9600 512mb
blu-ray
wusb
500gb 10000 rpm (which would burn it up but i can dream)
case redesign w/mag latch
multitouch trackpad - larger than mba
3/4" thick

what we will end up getting:

15" macbook pro 1680x1050 screen
2.6ghz penryn
2gb min ram
geforce go 9500/9600 (i really think there will be a video card bump)
no blu-ray yet
320gb 5400rpm 250gb 7200rpm
multitouch trackpad
0.9" thick

3 or 4 inches thick eh, that sounds reasonable.

Blu-Ray would at at least 500 bucks. I don't know exactly how much the PS3 costs, but that's a big piece of hardware to integrate into a laptop [Obviously there is processors and such, but most Blu-Ray players are pretty big from what I've seen]

What!

So just because it looks boring, It won't do the job?
Oh geeeez. The way it looks now, its more attractive than 99% of the laptop crap on the market.

I bought a MBP a few months back. No complaints from me.
Who cares that much about the friggn design? Yeah it plays a part but that is not the only reason why I bought one.

The current MBP does look better than 99% of the laptops out there. It's undoubtedly stylish. But fashions change - and Apple is so very good at fusing style, substance and whatever's hip in one sexy package.

Relative to the Air, I think the current MBP looks a little boxy (as do the current MBs). Performance upgrades are obviously a given, but, other than the new trackpad, I would like to see the black keyboard (perhaps even an all-black option) and tapered edges of the Air brought into the Pro line. Others clearly don't, but that's personal preference. Ultimately, it's up to Apple.

I'm not that shallow that I'd disregard function in favour of form, but if the new MBP ticks the 'look' boxes, I'm pretty sure it would batter down any resistance put up by the nagging "You don't really need one right now, you can wait another 6 months" voice in my head. :)

A black aluminium MBP a la iPod Classic would be very sweet indeed.

I actually prefer the MBP form factor to that of the MBA. The tapering of the MBA is.. deceptive :D

Are you joking? Of course standalone players are big. Anyway an internal 9.5mm drive is as big as every other optical notebook drive.

i've been campaigning for black anodised aluminium since at least 2003. Pismo ruled my world, bring back the black.

this just in....
thousands of truck convoys carrying the apple logo have been spotted all over the world today .
sources say they seem to be carrying boxes the size of a macbook pro. It all points to the imminent release of the MBP.

cant.....wait....much......... long......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
With apologies for the bad photoshopping:

We can has cake?

Of course I'm joking. Provided you're correct, that is. My ingenious technique of incorporating such ambiguity provides me with a 'Yeah, I was just kidding' escape clause should I say something stupid.

hey guys i want to get this one cuz i dont wanna a mbp with problem everytinme!!!!
ohh man im soo pissed off!!
this noise in the hd dont stop and i will have to trade again and later im sure the noise will come back and then i will throw my mbp from the window!
they dont have choise! or they update my mbp to stop the noise or they change my mbp for the new one!

Yeah... Not gonna happen. If it's a HD problem, they'll replace it. If it's a different more expensive to solve problem, they'll probably replace the whole computer... With an old one. They have to get rid of the old stock. That's what you bought after all. If it was such a good decision to buy it two months ago disregarding all rumors, it must be a good decision to keep it now.

I was referring to the Mac Minis thanks. They are a rip off and far behind where they should be. It is not secret that they have been very neglected by Apple.

The post I was originally responding to referred to the MacBook as well. But all of the features I mentioned are on the Mac Mini as well (except that the MM has "normal" DVI). While I agree that the Mac Mini should be cheaper compared to the MacBook and/or have X1300 graphics, SuperDrive and a 4GB option, it's not a rip off. There simply aren't any other PCs that fit this amount of performance in a case that is equally small in terms of desk estate. Even the Shuttle PCs are freaking huge compared to the MM. Not to mention that are louder, draw more power and many seem not to have digital video ports either.

Hey, let's keep our heads...

Macbook was updated in November. Mbp wasn't.

Macbook is within the normality of its renovation cycle. Mbp isn't.

Macbook may not be in stock. But, the entirely passed week, we heard that Mbp were also out in Best-Buy, Refurb store and other local stores.

Macbook may be much more sold than the Mbp. But still, Mbp is a Pro machine and Apple wants to keep their Professionals, I believe. They are those who mostly buy Aperture 2, Logic Studio and Final Cut software.

Macbook has specs that are convinient for most of users. However, the Mbp specs are out of date considering the new laptops in the market. Besides, since the multitouch is the new Apple policy, and that Apple will integrate it in the next new machines, I don't think Macbooks will get this honor before the Mbp's.

So, I don't think Macbooks will be out before the Mbp. We can't base a possibly Mb update just considering the fact that one of the destributors is out of them. We have had no other clues. For the Mbp, in the other hand, we have had a lot (macbook pro 4.1,...).

I believe that we will see a new product tomorrow. But don't come with your stupid argue that it may be the Time Capsule delivery announcement. Time Capsule was already announced, its being sold, a delivery do not justificate another "special day".

So, for tomorrow, I'm expecting to see new Mbp and the communication of a precise deadline for the SDK for Iphone/Touch.

If not, as I said in other posts, we should not wait for the Mbp update anymore. Because, if Apple lacks it tomorrow, the Penryn update could happend anytime during the year.

But I reiterate: Mbp should be comming with a similar look as the Mba (magnetic latch, black backlight keyboard, LED, thinner, multitouch trackpad). Without what, Apple will have to deal with 3 disttingued categories: Mb's, Mba and MBp's. And I don't think Mba will stand alone in its own category. Mba will be kind of integrated in the Pro's category.

But Wait and See...

Keep your pants on man, rumors websites has been announcing new MBPs eversince MWSF and yet they havent appeared. For all you know apple will skip pernyn.

What's with all the Apple apologists out there? I'm not even interested in buying a new MBP and I'm still pissed that Apple is dragging their feet in the computer department. Since when is it okay to wait 9 months to update a computer? We rarely had these kinds of wait-times even in the PowerPC days... and didn't Apple tell us they were switching to Intel because IBM wasn't meeting performance goals? Because they weren't getting newer technology in a more timely fashion? Becasuse there was no way a G5 would make it into a mobile envelope?

Now the switch has come and gone and we're seeing the longest upgrade cycles ever on many of their products! The MacPro was overdue for an update, the MBP is now, and the MacMini is too after just suffering a really long release cycle last time! It really makes you wonder whether or not IBM was just a scape-goat for Apple's poor implementation.

...but what really chaps my ass is how many people here STICK UP FOR APPLE! Why is it okay that folks have to wait three-fourths of a year for an update for a new computer? Why is it okay that Apple is still using COMBO DRIVES? I've honestly never met so many consumers who so wholly embrace getting ripped off by Apple.

Let's think a little here. It's been almost 9 months since the MBP has seen an update. We haven't seen delays like this since the days of legitimate PowerBook G5 wallowing. Well, Apple solved the problem. We've "tamed" Intel. Where is the barrage of are all the top-of-the-line products they promised us?

As an Apple customer why wouldn't you be upset about this? Don't customers usually LIKE new technology? Or did I miss something here?

Thank you. Far too many people are like that. With them it's "you don't need Penryn, the current MBP is plenty powerful." Yes that may be true, but I'm not paying Apple's huge premium for last years technology.

You guys have a very myopic view of Apple -- you see it from the standpoint of a few technology points.

You fail to see the superior build quality, the quality the brand exudes for business professionals, the OS and the quality of 3rd party matching components.

You might consider a broader perspective when it comes to evaluating Apple technology. The analysts do, and people who use their products to make a living, mostly do, and certainly the quality conscious do.

You are paying the premium for Apple's Research and Development and Build Quality. To achieve this build quality and style, Apple has to invest more in their product development, therefore, to achieve a respectable and industry leading return on that investment, the time between updates may not be on par with the "PC" industry standard. This is just good business for Apple and its shareholders, maybe not for potential customers who place a premium on the latest processor, screen technology, RAM, etc.

Haha that would be funny if it came out that big ;) Yes you are correct that a BD option is drive replacement.

Only for Mac OS

The only reason I'm switching to Mac is for their OS. There is a premium price to use OS X. Other than that, compare to PC world, I'm not impress with what they offer. It looks good, even cool, but my money is not to buy fashion. Apple are alone competing with all the PC company... and to please their customer they should offer the best of all their competitors... We ask Apple a lot... but I think it's why we are paying their hardware at least 25% more compared to the PC stuff.

I work for IBM and I could have the most high-end Lenovo laptop for half the price of an equivalent MBP... but I still want the MBP because of the OS X... After 9 months, I think we could get a decent revision of the MBP... tomorrow :) would be great.
