Ha ha...Swiftlives is getting some people worked up with this one. Easy people...he admitted to it being a fake several posts ago. He was just having a little fun with white fonting.
Why am I envisioning a mob of angry mac fans storming Swiftlives house with burning Macworld magazines attached to 1st generation iPods?

What exactly is unreasonable about asking for a $50 price cut in the Mini, which is currently using a chipset and CPU that weren't even new a year ago?
I fail to see how I fall into the realm of un-satisfyable moaners who plague these boards.
I think modest price-cuts are a very reasonable way for Apple to acknowlege their product doesn't reflect the same value it did 6 months ago. In an effort to maintain it's high bang/buck ratio, I think it's the least Apple could do.
It's not their lack of brand spanking new technology on release week that bothers me, it's their habit of updating a product and then ignoring it for an eon until it's so out of date it represents an unreasonable value compared to its original "self."
Is that so unreasonable? Really?

They do have a choice.
If you did buy your MBP in December, they would most likely just swap out the HD for a new one. They wouldn't just replace it with a new updated MBP. No matter how much you want them to. Heck, I want Cate Blanchett to give me a back rub, doesn't mean it's going to happen.
Here's a thought, if they do come out with new ones tomorrow, take a hammer to your old one. And I mean really go to town on that sucker.
Now, when the genius looks at the notebook, then back up at you, say all the alluminum just started crumpling right before your eyes, like it was imploding in on itself, and could you please, please, please, please, pretty please have a brand-spankin' new MBP?

If MBP are not updated tomorrow I shall be surprised.
However, I doubt MB & MBP will both be updated - surely Apple would not miss out on an event to release updates to both lines?
If they do update both lines I would not expect many big changes, new processor, maybe bigger hdd. Possibly multi touch.

Yes everyone probably will be disappointed, after all this is MacRumors. Whenever anything is released people here whine, bitch and complain about it ad nauseam.
He admitted it was fake in the original post. Its in the title in white font, so you have to highlight it to see, but when you go to quote his post, you should be able to see it in the quote. Let's calm down.

Is there any reason to think that what gets announced this Tuesday will be MacBooks? If there is, I am unaware of it. Engadget thinks they are MacBooks because they don't understand how Apple uses their model numbers, but this has already been explained on this thread. Did I miss something beyond this argument that makes anyone suspect that they will be MacBooks? Please let me know if I missed something, but as far as I can tell this is pure speculation based on a misunderstanding of Apple's model numbering system.

But yes, hope it's the MBP. Not holding my breath though. The mid-March release is starting to look more and more plausible. *sigh* At least the time to the next update is getting shorter either way.
Don't forget about the OS you'll be getting from Dell
As much as I like OS X, It is not worth several hundred dollars more. As painful as Windows is, I'm not going to be suckered into buying well outdated technology for prices higher than new technology from another company. Don't get me wrong, I love apple, I just think that Mr. Jobs shouldn't claim that their pricing is competitive, when the only computer that is priced with the competition is the iMac.
Well, some people are saying its gonna be 2.5 because the 2.4 has less L2 Cache than the current. Personally, i don't care whether its 2.4 or 2.5 though.
I'd be damn surprised if both the MB and MBP were updated. The MBP needs to have some distance over the MB, so if they made the MB even beefier then the MBP update is gonna have be a massive leap forward.
I'm not holding my breath for either update though (been getting my hopes up for the last couple of Tuesdays).

I've been hankering after a Mac for years now, and have never had the cash before, but after some saving I've had it sitting in my account since Christmas when my brother pointed me in the direction of the rumours - sorry, rumors - here.
I've been looking at the standard mid-level MBP as it's more than enough for my needs. The only reason I've been waiting is that I have a laptop, albeit Windows, that I can use in the meantime. The only reason why I'm waiting is really because I want the most up-to-date machine so that I can keep it for as long as possible.
Unlike seemingly 90% of the people on here, I'm not overly fussed what the increase in juice is. If it's incremental, I'll be perfectly happy. Also, I can wait. So I feel like a bit of a fish out of water reading these posts, but it has been great fun reading all the ranting and gnashing of teeth waiting for the new ones. I'll almost miss all this when the new boys finally arrive!
I just really wanted to say to everyone, especially those who, like me, will be taking their first steps into Macdom, I hope that if you buy a new computer soon, it'll bring you as much fun and enjoyment as I'm hoping for from my new Mac.
Oh, and two more things:
1, SwiftLives, you suckered me completely. I feel like a fool now, but it was a good gag!
