A friend of mine convinced 3 people to buy an Apple... one of them was me. Me myself, I just converted a lost PC soul as well. Is this missionary thing a grudge that lays upon us (future) Apple users? Like a natural urge to expel those evil PC Demons from this world?

LOL yes... i have got 1 to buy a macbook and working on 2 more for macbook pros.

Also working on father to buy a iMac for the home... as his laptop screen is nearly ready to fall off.

The store is down :)

EDIT: Whoops, it seems that I'm way late! I checked the last few pages of this thread and saw no clear comment that it has been down for a while already

they definitely need to change the front page It's been like that with the air for about a month now, so not terribly exciting any more.

Still hoping they'll be replaced with shiny new MBPs ;) hopefully not iPhone - the retro-look edition or other shiny pink items

But as a matter of fact... if you dont mention the price directly to them, a Mac is easy to sell! (great performance, next years OS today, iWork, iLife, TimeMachine,...) The one sentence that usually does the trick: "Yeah, well, if coincidentally you need a Windows-only program, you can install Windows natively (BootCamp) or using a VM- you cant do it the other way around!"

This is a little obtuse, but may fill some time...
Is there any story behind why the Apple apple has a bite out of it?
Like, "you have been tempted, you have knowledge etc."
Always wondered, is it just me? probably.

Well, the name "Apple Computer" was a homage to Apple Corps. And the logo of Apple Corps is.... an unbitten Apple...

There is this rumor that they changed it after Steve left Apple... which I think isn't true since the original Apple Logo also had a bite.
Do you know why they're using an Apple though? --> Steve Jobs used to be a fruitarian *g* (also just a rumor...)

Here's the original logo: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/fa/Apple_first_logo.png

Right I have one hour to kill, I'm going to finish watching Rambo II, and then it will be 1:30 - adios, I'm hungry... Hmmm apple pie ;)

I don't have the answer, but if it were drawn as a full apple (no bite), it probably wouldn't look as tasty.

in german stores new macbooks have arrived in stores!!!

macgadget.de is saying that they will be sold from today on.

but they say nothing bout mbp :-(

While it is generally accepted to have been in reference to Isaac Newton, a curious urban legend exists that the bitten apple is a homage to the mathematician Alan Turing, who committed suicide by eating an apple he had laced with cyanide. Turing is regarded as one of the fathers of the computer.

Is the Apple logo not a homage to Alan Turing?

Oh yeah Turing was an amazing guy wasn't he - I know Dawkins talks him up in God Delusion.

How did that go down in the US? - Hindenberg style?

new MacBook Pros had better have arrived also!

EDIT: oh they've just cottoned on to the previous MacRumors story. Good ol' cut 'n' paste with a touch of translatino in there. Nothing to report here. Phew!!!

EDIT2: uh oh - maybe not. This can't be right. They can't update the MacBook without updating the Pro. It just doesn't make sense!:eek:

Ok, I'm panicking now!!!!
