Well, after this morning's revelations of Prince Williams engagement, Apple is going to have to pull something out of the bag that's quite extraordinary if it plans to top the days news!!! :p

Here's to hoping the lessons of the past two or three decades have been well learned.

The Queen has more social prestige and influence against the government and against the civil service since anyone since the heyday of George V and Victoria.

Let's hope she can keep everybody off their backs enough to give them a chance.

If it was Beatles + Cloud then surely Apple's mysterious home page announcement would have included a reference to the "Sky."

If it's Beatles then there must be some otherwise "new" or previously unreleased material. Paul & Ringo perform in a live stream with George & John's sons?

Perhaps the entire catalog in iTunes LP format, with bonus material. And iTunes LPs now work on iDevices and AppleTV.

This would be so stupid if it we're true.
And I actually thought using the different clocks on the website was very useful.

Well said.

Stones and Beatles both suck. Lyrics are pedestrian , rhythms are boring and repetitive and music too simplistic.

I can listen to both -- but not a huge fan of either. But what you are saying is tantamount to suggesting the Apple I or Commodore 64 were barren, trivial toys that had no consequence on the future of computing or how people thought about computers.

The clocks and their arms aren't in anyway comparable.

There's only 1 that mathces up, and they're not even spelling out help anyway, I saw something that says on the album cover, it's being spelled out like N-K-J-V. Very weird

Only you guys, Apple :apple:

Uh ? Bad analogy. The Beatles were hardly the first to make music that appealed to the masses. The Apple I and Commodore were amongst the first micro computers to ship to consumers instead of the minis that were found in businesses.

Equating the Beatles to the Apple I is forgetting about 50's Rock n' Roll and even before that jazz, swing, all things that came before the Beatles and had much more depth.

The Beatles brought to us the Pop era, about the ********* era of music and culture we've ever been through.

Liking & disliking The Beatles or the Stones is a matter of opinion and everyone is entitled to one. Yes, the songwriting isn't the strongest, but what other pop/rock band (other than Elvis) is still talked about almost 50 years later?

Many people are saying this isn't a big deal, but it really is. iTunes is a huge music retailer and making The Beatles part of their offering is HUGE from a business perspective, even more so given the history between Apple Records and Apple Computers/Inc.

Don't equate rock with the Beatles please. No, seriously, don't ever do that. Stick to your pop category, there are many other big names that are still talked about elsewhere in the music sphere 50 years later.

Did both the Stones and the Beatles stop making music in 1960 then?

Also, you'd have thought Apple would change the front page by now, as apparently the event is tomorrow... ;)

I love the Beetles but...

Who the eff cares!? If you are a beetles fan, please don't tell me that you haven't purchased any of their music and have been holding out all this time for iTunes...

If it's ONLY a Beetles announcement, I will be disappointed to say the least.

Agreed. Only one match. Beatles would be nice, but I already have their greatest hits CD's, so I'm fine. I hardly see how it's a day we are never going to forget.

I'm putting £10 on that iTunes is turning into a Spotify rip off.

There is a market for classic songs and old artists.

The week after Michael Jackson died, the top ten songs and top ten albums at the iTunes Store were all Michael Jackson's. Every single one.

Clearly, the mere presence of an artist at the iTunes Store will result in sales. A bit splashy announcement/event tends to drive additional sales.

In the case of Michael Jackson, it was very evident that not everyone who appreciated his work had all of the songs that they wanted.

So , actually it's a plot to assassinate McCartney and Starr ,and make a fortune selling Dead Mens' Blues ?

I can't see this as being any big deal if it is what the hoopla is all about. I already have every song the Beatles ever released - most in both vinyl and CD format. So do most Beatles fans. I say that's not it....

and cue a dozen Beatles type comments...

Maybe this is the day we're going to hear Carnival Of Light for the first time? I wouldn't forget that.

George Harrison isn't around anymore to block it's release though his widow Olivia, Yoko and Ringo would have to agree to it. Macca wanted it on the Anthology compilations.

Harrison really didn't like it, describing it as 'avant garde a clue'. :D
