I've got an 8CD bootleg of the Get Back sessions which is pretty poor. No wonder it took a couple of attempts to make Let It Be into a half decent album.

There can't be much left in the archives that is worth releasing which didn't make it onto the Anthology set.

I've heard there's easily enough to fill one or two albums. The interesting thing is that Lennon said that the best Beatles stuff was performed in Hamburg and never recorded!

Picture the scene. I'm an average iTunes user. I don't care a jot about iOS 4.2. I don't even know what it is. I don't have a Mac, I don't even have an iPhone. I have never even heard of 'The Cloud' and, if I did hear about it, I would assume it's the latest Stephen King novel. However, I'm quite interested in getting some of the Beatles' records in my iTunes collection, and, come to think of it, I was just compiling a playlist for my Sister's birthday and hey, Helter Skelter would sound great on there... buy, buy, buy . Get the picture?

As for a day to remember? You know 'hype', the marketing machine, the big corporate magic trick which gets you to buy things you don't really need? Yeah, this is it.

Also, are you saying that announcement of a Cloud based iTunes would have been a day you remembered for the rest of your life....?

What...?

I don't think any posts I've ever made have referenced a 'cloud'? And if it was the 'cloud', then no I wouldn't remember that either.

I was hoping for a surprise from Apple. And instead gained access to buy music from 40 years ago which I think everyone in my family already owns....

Searching for Beatles in the swedish iTMS-app now gives a lot of hits on Beatles-records, including "HELP" and all the other ones.

Don't know if it's been mentioned. I may be late to the party, but I just searched for The Beatles on UK iTunes and I may be seeing things but....You can guess the rest.

Edit. Ok I'm late.

FWIW, if it is just the Beatles, I will remember this day as the day that I stopped paying attention to Apple PR.

what are you listening to?

A band that don't have jolly pop melodies and catchy lyrics.

SunnO)))

But then again, there is a Beatles link:
SunnO))) took their name from the album "Sunn amps and smashed guitars" by the band Earth. Earth started as a Black Sabbath tribute band, calling themselves by the original name of that band. Ozzy Osbourne sang for Sabbath and he wanted to be like McCartney...

Maybe he would like it!

The irony is that Apple have now created a self-fulfilling prophecy. I bet if you asked me in 5 years time if I remembered when the Beatles appeared on iTunes I'd remember it; not because of the event, but because of the hype. I'm not saying I'd remember it as a momentous point in my life, just that I'd be able to recall it like I can remember buying a new dishwasher 8 years ago.

There really wasn't that much hype; they posted a message on their homepage saying they had a big announcement today. I can't see Apple ever releasing a new feature or product without a media event.

I may be in the minority - but I have been waiting for the Beatles to come to itunes for a long time. The first album I ever purchased with my very own allowance money was a Beatles album. The very first CD I ever purchased was Abbey Road. I am pretty certain that Beatles songs and albums will dominate the itunes charts for the next week or so. This IS very big news for people my age. It may not be as big of news for the average macrumors member though, as that demographic skews a bit younger than those of us who consider the Beatles to be kind of a big deal. Some of us are so busy that we never got around buring our CD's to our computers. I for one am VERY excited! :D

This is really huge for Apple. It gives them an advantage over every other digital music store (Amazon).
