Lg got the patent on the pimple similar to the essential. The lg 7 looks nothing like the lg patent.

Apple on the other hand was granted a patent on the notch.

Pimple/notch call it what you like. My point is the Essential phone was the first to market and there are a few companies with successful patents for a notched design. Funny thing is the notch is already a dated design with fully bezeless phones already being released. Give it a year or two and bezels and notches will be a thing of the past.

The good thing is this shows what is possible to make and sell at $300 USD., at least in China.

Which hopefully means Apple could sell their iPhone XS plus for $999 while still getting the same profit margin.

It also means the probability of $699 for an iPhone 6.1" LCD with the same profit margin be possible form Apple.

Android has always been a copy of iPhones.

That’s rather ridiculous - Samsung actually introduced the all-screen phone and Apple “followed” the lead. With the iPhone X a year and a half later. Apple has been known for blantantly rippping off software features from other manufacturers, both on iOS and on MacOS. Let’s not assume that Apple gets to throw the first stone here.

pfff,..what a lamer Company that is Motorola!..This is reason enough never to buy anything from them! Such losers, quite discusting actually.

It's so sad, Motorola used to be such a great company. What’s left out of is another chinese clone maker ☹️

It’s simple, it’s the cost.

How? Removing the chin in my logic would be a reduction of material and thus cheaper. Can‘t be the angle of the screen because they all already create the most ridiculous curves in the top screen area with all those different looking notches.

Apparently it’s quite expensive to bend the oled display at the bottom like it is on the iPhone X.

Which of the Samsung phone had All Screen with a notch that Apple "followed"?
Sharp started it in 2014.

Samsung did their own nearly bezeless display in 2017 with the infinity display. However they had been slowly reducing the size of their bezels over the years.

Looks like a better iPhone X with possibly fingerprint scanner and probably half the price. And, the iPhone X stole ideas from Samsung Galaxy phablet and Essential Phone notch.

so, essential came out in may 2017, then apple stole it and re-engineered their whole phone and changed production lines in 1 week to "copy" something essential is trying to get rid of since they made the phone.

gotcha.

Given that Motorola make phones and a there's huge market for phones that look like iPhones but for a third of the price or less, then Motorola would be daft not to bring out such a model.

iPhone X has a notch, its not edge to edge
Depends on your definition. If we discount Face ID, there really is a "more or less" consistent bezel around the entire display, which is missing from a lot of android smartphones who aren't able to make the screen curve at the bottom.

What full bezeless are being released, that have no chin, no notch, no borders? There aren't any, because room is needed for the camera and ear speaker.

Bah, this entire thread is a waste. So what if it's an exterior clone? It's internal organs are still malignant. It runs Android. Enough said. If you choose to enter the Android world based on a design clone then you're a very superficial individual.

A far more concerning issue should be Samsung and Qualcomm closing the gap on Apple's A Series chips with the new ARM Cortex-A76 architecture. :apple:

Oh and lg wasn’t first to patent either Apple patented their version of the notch before lg and were granted patents before lg.

So I have a question: are you allowed to work on Apple’s design team if you don’t live in San Francisco?

The iPhone X doesn’t have the best screen to body ratio but it looks the best out of all the near bezeless designs imo. The bezel is minimal but uniform. At least the notch is there for a good reason on the iPhone X.

I’m sure they would accommodate Johnny Ives if he wanted to move back to England.

Not bothered at all by this replica -- one of many Android replicas unveiled post-X.

Apparently, there are folks bothered by this, maybe those that consider the iPhone a prestigious, fashion statement -- which is exactly why Apple loves those folks that upgrade yearly to preserve status.

As far as I am concerned, just hoping for an iPhone SE Mark 2, that will preserve the classic 4-in build.
To me, nothing replaces one-hand use.

And couldn't care less about the iPhone as a fashion statement, with or without a $1,000 price tag -- it is just a freaking mobile communication device.
