Apple sets the tone for the entire industry. This particular phone is rather sad, but all Android phones have their roots in Google’s decision to go back to the drawing board after the first iPhone was announced and they released an imitating product

But at least the current Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Note phones does not look anything like the current iPhone models.

A lot of US military tech was stolen from Germany in WWII. Just to be fair so not all Americans appear ignorant and arrogant.

You mean when Germany persecuted a lot of people who decided to take their IP and flee to the US, if you call that stealing, whatever helps you sleep at night for ethnic cleansing.

Remember when designer knockoff purses were all the rage? Was there anything Louis Vuitton, Burberry or Hermès could do about it?

The difference is that Apple has sued and won before, and I think the reason they sued less time was less of a copy than this one. So who knows? If they come to the US with this phone, they might be in trouble. China doesn't care, though.

Yeah. I was wondering the same thing when the iPad Pro was released, which was an obvious Microsoft Surface knock-off...

You mean the same design Apple had been selling for years, but larger and faster? Not seeing the comparison...

Wow they have stopped trying haven't they

I concur, when you have a notch the same size as your competitor and it does not offer the same functionality and only there for aesthetics, I believe motorola has lost its way and is catering to competition market pressure. A few years from now when a solution to the notch has been implemented, people will look back and say, “what were we thinking” this is indicative of a fad mentality.

Motorola has the chin, excellent incorporate the notch elements into that, or would that be copying the MiiMix 2 (which I believe looks beautiful, without a notch).

How is it a surface knock off?

It doesn’t run macOS. There were keyboards for the iPad for years before the surface pro came out.

When I was at school, we were taught that if you copy someone else's work, then the only person whom you're really cheating is yourself.

It seems that the children in adults bodies who run technology companies, need to go back to school and learn the fundamentals of life. Motorola, you have forgone an opportunity to design something truly incredible, instead opting to take the lazy path and cheat your customers out of an AUTHENTIC Motorola phone experience, by tricking them into following their subconscious associations with Apple and "number one", hiding your product behind a superficial lie, and if that's ALL you have left to grab the gaze of your potential customer, then you're raging idiots. Then again, you're not ACTUALLY Motorola any more, are you, Lenovorola... purveyors of all things *****, except the ThinkPad range, which is only successful because it was so BEFORE you bought the division out, because you stand on the shoulders of giants.

You goons.
Lenovo are not interested in creating anything incredible. They just want to sell lots of cheap tat.

Does anybody know if the P30 includes "Dedicated" Burst Photo DRAM ?

I expect AAPL to include 1 GB or so of such DRAM in their Sept 2018 iPhones.

Samsung's S9 family includes a small amount of it.

Why did the USSR's space shuttle look exactly like the Americans?

Yep, and they also copied the American B-29 bomber of Enola Gay fame after WWII and stole the plans for the Concord. The Concordski fell apart mid-air at an airshow though because the plans they stole were purposely doctored up by the designers who knew they would get stolen. :)

That chin just makes it look horrible. The only reason that the iPhone X looks like its edge to edge is because the bezel around the edges are all the same. Its a great optical illusion. I've yet to see a "edge to edge" display without a chin.

You’re completely wrong. The iPhone is edge to edge unlike any other phone on the market. The bezel curves inwards which makes the display cost way too much for others to complete with. Also, the slight “bezel” you refer to is so that the phone is rounded and comfortable to hold. So having any less bezel than the iPhone X would be detrimental to the comfort of holding the phone.

In summary, Apple got everything right in their first and only attempt to reduce bezels, while others are failing miserably.

This guy got it right. :D

How did he get it right, when Samsung, the biggest player in the game have designs that look nothing like the iPhone, 8 or x?
Forget about them?

Yay Motorola. Congratulations on milking the industry, Chinese philosophy on design and aesthetic (and everything else), and basically putting zero effort into any innovation.

Sure you can't copyright rounded corners and grid of icons, but this is ridiculous.

Do these companies...or rather do the people who make the decisions have no morals, ethics or pride? Is it all for the bottom line and almighty dollar?

I don't know why this is such a big deal NOW--Android manufacturers have been doing this since last year, but when Motorola does it everyone goes nuts. I guess maybe because this is a brand people actually care about?

Either way, I can only guess that this isn't being sold in the US because Motorola doesn't want to be sued.

Since last year? Android manufacturers have been doing it since the original iPhone was released.
