My point is that it's hideous, in my opinion. I didn't miss any point as I wasn't replying to anyone, there was no initial point.
If FaceID and the TrueDepth (really, is it like these are two separate systems now or what?)could be incorporated into the not so small 3.7mm bezel, would you still want a notch for the sake of a notch?
No, I’m comfortable with something that gives me more screen space than I’d get with a full forehead AND incorporates industry leading hardware for a feature I love.

Clearly, there are always improvements In technology, but the current setup is elegant from my perspective and anyone who bought the X.

Ok I can see where the confusion is coming from, you are referring to who got a patent first and i'm referring to the first phone that was released. If i'm completely honest I don't really care, the sooner the notch goes way the better imo.

Thats EXACTLY why I have a Samsung phone in my pocket, I prefer the small chin on bottom and bezel on top then a notch it also gives a better body to screen ratio. Im also one of the people who thinks the curved edges make the S9 look awesome. Like we agreed on, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Actually I was replying to the poster claiming Apple stole the idea from essential. Which the plantent disproves.

That’s your prerogative and no one is trying to convince you. But the the entire industry has moved on to the notch and bezels are the new physical keyboard.

With that being said your arguments and preference to the contrary mimics those of BlackBerry and it’s fans refusing to adapt to the new trend.

It’s foolish to believe Samsung won’t follow suit with the s10.

Enjoy your device.

Multitouch was invented in the 80s by Bill Buxton. Jobs said Apple invented. He lied, and Apple consumers believed him.
That's like saying Microsoft came up with the tablet before Apple. While technically true, we all know whose version of the tablet took off and which one floundered. And we know whose vision of tablet computing has defined the industry since.

While Apple wasn't the first company to invent the multi-touch technology, it would be the first to create a version that didn't suck to use, and in the process, mainstream said technology by giving the rest of the industry a template to aspire towards.

Actually no. Bills a is researcher at microsoft.

Bill buxtons contribution in the 80’s were relegated to multi touch interfaces.

Bills 1992 flip keyboard is similar to the technology found in earlier MacBooks trackpad.

Bob Boie at Bell labs invented our interpretation of multitouch using a crt display.

Apple said they patented multi-touch. And they did patent their version of it, that came out of their acquisition of fingerworks.

Don’t know why that bothers so many people.

Interesting...
"
In January 2007, multi-touch technology became mainstream with the iPhone, and in its iPhone announcement Apple even stated it "invented multi touch",[29] however both the function and the term predate the announcement or patent requests, except for the area of capacitive mobile screens, which did not exist before Fingerworks/Apple's technology (Fingerworks filed patents in 2001–2005,[30] subsequent multi-touch refinements were patented by Apple[31]).

However, the U.S. Patent and Trademark office declared that the "pinch-to-zoom" functionality was predicted by U.S. Patent # 7,844,915[32][33]relating to gestures on touch screens, filed by Bran Ferren and Daniel Hillis in 2005, as was inertial scrolling,[34] thus invalidated a key claims of Apple's patent."

Newton was just a small tablet :)

Very interesting....
“The patent was preliminarily rejected back in December 2012 before the final verdict was delivered today as they were anticipated, according to Computerworld, either by previous patents or were deemed unpatentable (as the technology has already been copied in other mobile operating systems, such as Google's Android).

During the original trials, the jury found that 21 out of the 24 Samsung smartphones and tablets presented to them as evidence infringed on Apple's pinch-to-zoom feature, which was first introduced on the original iPhone back in 2007. The patent covered a gesture whereby users can "pinch" outwards to zoom into an image, document or file.”

This is so tired. Inventors of technology with no or poor implementation should really not get credit for a brilliant implementation of said technology. You make it sound like Buxton had an iPhone is his back pocket and just didn’t have the right marketing for it to become successful.

There were tablets, smartphones, and other junk before the iPhone and iPad, but do we really not credit Apple for creating the modern day tablet and smartphone?

Apple isn’t worth a trillion dollars because they are great liars.

Apple said they patented multi-touch. And they did patent their version of it, that came out of their acquisition of fingerworks.

This is another lie. Steve Jobs clearly said they not only invented multitouch, but then also followed up with 'boy have we patented it'. Proof right here, skip to 5:35

Wrong.

Same tech, released before Apple did anything...... tell us again how that 'sucked' and was invented by Apple anyway.

Perhaps this already is part of the trade war - from the Chinese side, this would be a great way to undercut sales of iPhone X's in Asia (and Europe?). Corollary to that, Apple products are manufactured in China as well. With Trump's trade war, what incentive do Chinese electronics manufacturing companies have to "guard" Apple's secrets? With multinational companies such as Apple, competition takes on strange cloaks.
I don’t think this is part of any master plan. It’s just a copycat device.

The version of multi touch on the iPhone was invented by fingerworks and acquired by Apple.

You realize that none of those previous demonstrations have used fingerworks patented technology on a handheld device using a capacitive layer over an lcd screen.

Guess what?
Those devices that needed a projector to work did “suck”. That’s why those technologies were abandoned in favor of apple’s, that could fit inside a handheld device.

For the same reason Motorola copied the iPhone X, they were behind and needed to catch up.

Also I don't think you have to follow the patent laws of a country your at war with.

You mean *you’re.

For the record the U.S is not at war with Russia.

Lenovo is the new owner of Motorola. There is no surprise that Motorola is now a copycat company.

So the note 9 has bigger bezels than the note 8?? There is NOTHING new in Note 9. It’s a S9 with a stylus. S9 sales are tanking. I’m sure the Note 9 will fail too. Actually the last four Galaxy’s note phones all look the same. So saying Apple can’t innovate and Sammy can is a joke.
What in God's earth are you talking about man, the original post says Ive designs for the entire smartphone industry, I disagree saying the galaxy range are different. The end!! Read properly next time before wasting my time!!

And Apple will totally ignore this, along with ignoring all others, and continue to go after Samsung.
Why.
It's a math problem, nothing more.

This is digusting
Hows DARE Apple copy the Motorola P30!!!
These Chinese are such great innovators and intellectuals - it’s a travesty Apple should infringe thier property
China - please start a trade war to level to playing field!!
LOL, I see what you did there...

So probably a lawsuit gets filed this month that gets settled in 2027 after both the iPhone X and this blatant copy are obsolete?
Nobody has said yet that this is going to court. And clogged courts is not the fault of Apple.

So, i want to understand this correctly, Apple is upset another company copied Apples design? Hmmm...i think thats the kettle calling the pot black.
I don't think the article has said anything about Apple being upset, or even noticing this.

I don't think Apple should be legally allowed to single out only one company.
If you wish to go after companies that directly copy your design, then fine do that, but be consistent.
Again, it's a math problem. You can win a case, but that doesn't mean you'll get anything back, let alone enough to compensate for the cost of the legal suit.

So you have to be smart about it and only go after the ones who have damaged you the most, or who have made the most money from ripping off your intellectual property. There's nothing wrong with that.

Because aerodynamics work the same in both countries and the requirements for both vehicles were very similar.
And actually, the Russian shuttle was a lot different. It relied solely on the external boosters to get to orbit. It had thrusters only and didn't include engines like the American version had.

Android phones are a commodity. This one is no different - it just acts like a hot date that doesn't put out.

I don't know, they all look the same to me.
Frankly unless a phone breaks down, I don't understand why people keep buying newer models.

You mean when Germany persecuted a lot of people who decided to take their IP and flee to the US, if you call that stealing, whatever helps you sleep at night for ethnic cleansing.
No, the original poster is talking about when having won WWII America and Russia (an ally) went about offering deals to German and Nazi scientists in return for their work both past and future. These people and their families where relocated in which ever other county they went to thus escaping the Nuremberg Trials. Just Google "Operation Paperclip" for whatever you have misunderstood.
