How is security on the Pixel compared to Iphone?
I've never had an issue with that. I've even used devices that were way past it's security updates and never encountered an issue. That includes having banking and credit card apps, not one single issue. Most of that IMO, is FUD. Some feel that if their phone receives security updates that their digital device is going to be protected from all sorts of digital shenanigans. As you and others know, do stupid stuff on the internet and stupid stuff might happen.

No one can decide for you what you perceive to be security in the digital world but me and my circle of friends have used older devices that were no longer getting security updates and have never encountered a single problem.

I personally, have a negative perception of Google, yet I am interested in the Google Pixel ironically. I've heard a variety of claims, saying that Google steals your data and sells it to brokers, as well as many other things. I am sure that is the case, but is it actually worse than Apple? Or are they they same? I have yet to see a concrete answer to that.

I think this is moving the subject off topic, but I think Apple is just as bad, if not worse than Google because of China. Apple operates in China and Google does not. Apple allowed certain concessions so it could continue to do business in China. Google didn't and does not do business in China. Are Apple users being selective and looking the other way on this?

As soon as you access the internet you are an open target. There are some who think using an Apple device places you in a digital condom for protection. Not so! So you think Apple is the nice player here with the best intentions? Go into Safari settings and they have a thing called "Allow privacy preserving measurement of AD EFFECTIVENESS". That is on as a default. That is a way of selling your viewing habits so Safari can target you with effective ads.

I don't personally care if China has access to my data. I'd rather a Foreign nation have access to my data than the one I am living in, personally. Everyone makes all this fearmongering about China having access to this, or that, but I don't really see what the problem is. Really, what will China do with my data? I've never been there, so it doesn't really matter to me. Part of me was considering looking into the Oneplus devices, actually. Though Pixels are interesting to me.

I don't use Safari. I use Firefox. I never really liked the layout of Safari personally, so I haven't really used it in any significant capacity.

If Apple will give it to one country for profit, they will likely give it to another country, or entity, for profit - or worse.

I'll bet the NSA has people's data from both Apple and Google.

If you think that Apple operating in China has anything to do with how they operate in America, then I almost don’t even know if we have enough common ground with which to discuss the issue.

Obviously how they operate in China has nothing to do with how they operate in the USA. As a “for instance,” look into Advanced Data Protection. Does Google offer any sort of ADP end-to-end encryption on user data? That would be a negative. Until they do, and as long as Apple keeps offering ADP, then I choose to go with Apple.

As far as I understand it, currently Google does not. Though there's been some recent news about them making it easier to text between Android and Apple devices. However as much as I may be interested in a Google Pixel device, what you are saying here is a major concern for me.

Forgive me if I require proof that government agencies can access all devices with the same level of ease—especially when end-to-end encryption is a thing. Well, for some corporations anyway.

That is absolutely NOT the same thing. At all.
EFF details the differences here: https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2025/06/googles-advanced-protection-arrives-android-should-you-use-it

Basically Advanced Protection from Google is more like iPhone Lockdown Mode. I am specifically talking about end-to-end encryption on all my user data in iCloud—to which Google doesn’t have an equivalent.

Oh, and there is this: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ces-cleared-for-nato-classified-data.2478264/

I think both Android and iOS devices works fine. I have used iCloud in the past and it didn't work for me so I switched to Google for online storage and it's been great ever since. It is also good to use both to see what is different on each side. I have two phones at the moment, a Galaxy S9 (very old, but works fine for what I need) and a iPhone 13 mini. I also have an Android tablet and several Mac portable and desktops. All have good features and I don't think one device can do it all well.
I am new here. Can you help me a bit? I have been using pixel 7 for last 2 year and wanting to switch to iphone. Can't decide between 17 pro max and 16 pro max

Does your Apple device not have any full stops or commas?!
Maybe he recorded his moments using his iPhone's microphone, and then posted it in this thread while he was on the move and unable to use the keyboard?

I wonder if Siri or Alexa can automatically correct all the errors in a text message before 'sending it?
