Anyone use this along with a monitor? Just wondering if it's overkill.

mStand is great.

For $49, the Rain Design mStand is situated as one of the most expensive products in its category. However, I feel that this price is justified. While most competing products are significantly cheaper, none approach the aesthetic appeal and durability offered by Rain Design's precise, well-engineered architecture. For MacBook and MacBook Pro owners in particular, when you factor in the enhanced heat dissipation and free access to the front of your machine that is offered by this design, I can see very little reason why the mStand should not be considered as essential as a notebook case.

Three words...

Wireless: keyboards, mice.

:D

I have three mStands and I love them all :D Whats really sad is I have one for my office, one for my living area and one beside my bed. :)

I really like the way they look. I will probably be checking one of those out as soon as I can. I think my back and neck will thank me for it...:D

I bought 2 when i ordered. One for home and one for the office. They look so awesome when the mac is placed up there.

Great product

I just bought the MStand and so far it is great. I have definitely noticed a drop in CPU temperatures and the fan seems to rev up a lot less. All I need now is a stand for the external monitor too so that I can get rid of those unsightly books. :D

I have a cinema display, M stand, and a 17" MBP and 13" MBP

I'll swap out the 17 with the 17 if you really want to see what it looks like...

I do, that would be cool man. I want to see what it looks like before I buy! :D

Can you take a pic with the 13" on the m stand, while plugged into the external? That's the exact set up I want to build.

Wow, that's simply amazing. That's sure to be on my shopping list when I upgrade to a unibody next year :D

Too bad the shipping to Australia costs more than the stand itself.

anyone have any experience with the iLap? I went to check the mStand out but it doesn't seem practical to move around or use without an extra keyboard which is important to me but the iLap looks pretty appealing.

Great review, thanks to everyone who posted pictures. I'm highly considering getting one to go along with my new 17". I was initially concerned about stability, but from what I've been hearing it's a not an issue.

Stability certainly isn't an issue. The mStand is very sturdy and is strong enough that you can type on the keyboard while it is on the stand should you so wish. I am amazed how much better it is for my posture too now that I have to sit up straight and not slouch over the computer.

The anodized aluminium finish also really fits in well with the macbook pro line and the product even looks as though it could have been made by apple.

Am I the only one that feels this thing is stupid?

How do you lean back in your chair and slouch? How do you rest your elbows on the chair arms while you type?

This thing must bounce like a bobble-head doll every time you move a hand - that would drive me eyeballs batty.

Some of you guys accessorize your apple stuff more than a woman at a Macy's fire sale.

I've been looking at this stand and have a question...

With the laptop leaning forward on the stand and the display open, wouldn't this put additional stress on the hinges and loosen them over time?

I've had a similiar problem with a previous laptop and the hinges giving in over time because I used the laptop on my laptop in bed.

Would love to hear some input about this.

HAHA!

Stands like this are really useful when using the laptop at a desk with a keyboard/mouse. Creates a much better viewing angle for the screen.

I have the griffin elevator, and it doesn't bounce at all.

You didn't get it. Look at the pictures of people's setups in the thread. You plug a keyboard in and use that.

Haha

U don't use the laptops keyboard while its up on the mStand, u use a separate keyboard and mouse.

LOL! Oh... ok, I'm back with the tour now. :D

Down here on the farm we're still marveling over that new invention they call "duct tape".

:D

I have to add the obligatory statement that I also have an mStand and I totally love it too. Paid £50 for mine in the UK though which makes this pretty damn expensive.
