Is that a glass of soda next to the laptop on the desk??

That's a big No-No in my house

Laptop is elevated above potential spill, and I have a 20 year track record of not spilling anything on/around my computer equipment ;)

Now, other people -- or after a few drinks -- then all food/beverage stays far away :)

Thanks! :)

BTW, which size MBP do you have?

I have the new 13" MBP, soon to be X-25M (160gb) equipped ;)

Well, as nice as the MStand is I cheaped out and bought the Logitech N110. The Meijer store had them on the shelf, it was $30, and I'm impatient. The 13" MBP looks great next to my new HP LP2275W (22") monitor. I pretty much stole the monitor at $150 :). Some times I just enjoy a good deal. That MStand is very svelte I might add.

I've heard that a DVI cable won't fit through the hole in the mStand...is that true?

It is, read my first post. With my new MBP, i'll be able to get a mini-DP to DP cable and will finally be able to run all cords through it.

Despite the DVI cable issue, it's the best stand on the market. Bar none, hands down.

I just ordered this stand earlier this week. It should arrive in the mail tomorrow I am pretty excited myself. haha.

Ok. Dumb question. Will the mStand support a 17-inch MBP.. or will it snap in half?

Lol, I only have a 15" MBP so haven't tried it for myself but yes I am almost certain it will support a 17". It is very rigid so you will have no problem there. It is designed for macs but many pc users also use them and the average windows notebook is a lot more chunky and heavy than a macbook pro.

As someone has said this is true. Take a look at my pics posted above and you will see. It is a strange design flaw that they seemed to have missed but now the latest MBPs use the mini-dvi the problem has gone away so not much point in revising the mstand now.

I have been using the mStand since December. It looks really great! As they mentioned though, I wish the DVI would fit through the back. Other than that, great item.

About 60% of the time I'm using my mbp on a desk, so I thought I should get a stand for more comfort/ergonomics.

My mstand came in yesterday, and so far it's been fantastic. The angle and height is perfect now. Which is a good thing, because it's not adjustable. In the first day of use I immediately noticed how much it is better for my neck. (Looking forward, instead of looking down) I've got Logitech VX mouse I got a few years ago, and I'll pick up a Logitech Wave keyboard tomorrow for my perfect setup. I'm not a fan of Apple desktop keyboards/mice.

This thing is also supposed work as a cooling pad, because it's big solid piece of aluminum. And it sort of does, but nowhere near as good as real cooling pad, because the mbp sits on rubber strips (to prevent scratches and sliding) so there is a small gap between the mbp and mstand, and that gap prevents the mstand from conducting most of the heat away, because air is a good insulator. (see pic 3) Still, when I was rendering a video in Premiere, the mstand got warm, so it's doing something...

I was also considering the griffin elevator stand, but that one doesn't look like it provides much support for the mbp. The last thing I want is my computer ending up on the floor. The mstand is pretty heavy and holds the computer in place, there is no way it will accidentally fall off. Even if you use the mbp keyboard the mstand doesn't bounce. It's a very solid stand.

I've wanted this for months. It's nearly impossible to find in Canada, even on Newegg, it's on and off all the time. Taxed and shipped to Canada costs almost $80CAD. It's a bit hard to justify paying that much for a bent sheet of metal. But it works well, and looks good too, just like the mbp. I highly recommend this (+keyboard and mouse) for someone who sits behind a desk all day.

By the way, it looks great:

I know this thing has been around forever, but I always enjoy unboxing new tech

I really want one... :eek::eek:
