People need to read the article to the end. It seems like the reviewers didn't read instructions and removed the protective film that SHOULDN'T be removed.
I'm an Apple fan, but it's still great to see innovations and hope that they do well.

I think most people here have read the entire article. Did you? It states: “Not all of the reviewers with broken units removed the plastic film, however, so there are clearly multiple issues impacting the Galaxy Fold”.

There are problems aplenty with this device, protective film removed or left alone.

At least they're attempting to innovate and bring new technologies to market. I'm Tired of Apple putting out 2-3 year old technology. The Problem is I'm stuck in their ecosystem. But to ridicule Samsung for innovation attempts is sad.

For folding smartphones to be a usable thing, they’re either going to need both halves to be half as thick, so the total thickness is similar to most phones today, or have one half be thicker like the whole of a book, where the other half is like a book cover and consequently much thinner. And it will need to fold with a much tighter radius so it closes as close to flat as possible.

Otherwise you just end up with what looks and feels like a overly thick, half-baked idea of what a flip smart phone should be.

There have been zero reports of phones which have been paid for breaking

Apple has over 30 class action suits for poor quality products

Because class action law suits = wrong-doing and not people out to get money.

It's a beta product. What do you expect?

Probably Samsung will inspect those devices and come with a solution.

Don't know why so many people from here complain! It's not like you spent 2000$ on the phone and didn't know it's a beta product, or Samsung come with the "F you response"! I'm an Apple user but I admire Samsung courage and the fact that they are trying something new!

In the meantime Apple prepare to release a NEW phone with the SAME design with a LITTLE specs bump :)

Indeed, courage. And actually daring to do something new. Innovating their asses. It has been so long.

If they want to try something NEW, they can do it in their R&D department, we customers are not the testers. AND YEAH $2000 for a product does not even last a week, come on. They rushed it so bad and its evedient.

In any case, any product that has an easily-removed by the customer film that isnt' supposed to have it removed is just poor design.

and u think samsung had none?
Apple gets the highlight because its Apple?

Wow, can't believe it. A foldable phone that breaks, just like a repeatedly folded piece of cardboard.

Well it keeps people's attention away from the bendy iPad Pros.

Prediction: We should be able to witness well-known members of the ADF (Apple Defense Force) claim this problem is wide-spread and a huge humiliation for Samsung, while simultaneously in another thread claim the Apple butterfly keyboard problem is a non-issue because it's so marginal.

To be fair, given that there are probably fewer than a hundred devices out there and there are at least four reports of problems, that suggests this is a real, and probably prevalent, problem.

Just like the butterfly keyboards.

They are releasing a prototype to the public. If you believe Apple doesn’t have a prototype folding phone I don’t know what to say. If Apple were to release it they would get ripped apart.

I hope Kenny won’t mind.

“You got to know
When to hold 'em
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away
Know when to run
You never count your money

When you're sittin' at the table
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done“

Good this product has not been released yet; even if tech reviewers have their hands on it......samsung could halt the sales of this device and push the delivery dates back. Its best it happened now than in actual customer's hands.

Furthermore since this thing needs a protective film layer...it should not be for sale...eventually anyone would pull that off or it would peel off on its on...........a mess. I can't defend samsung with this one....they better be happy its not released yet (a second time since the note 7 when I have no clear defense; protypes people are not for sale)

I still have no idea what the protective cover is for and why it would cause issues with the screen? I have a fold on pre order from ATT, Im not going to cancel the pre order as I can always return the phone but it does cause some concern that only a handful of youtubers have the devices and not even 2 full days 4 devices have failed.
