UPS tracking finally started working for me around midnight last night, woo!
I ordered a 32GB Black iPhone 4S AT&T via Apple.com on Friday, Oct. 7 around 9am PT.

flightaware.com updated to show a UPS flight from Louisville to Orlando scheduled for 4:15 PM, so here is to hoping my phone is on that flight!
So is it safe to assume that once it's "preparing for shipment" that's it's just waiting to be picked up. My fiancé and I ordered 2 devices on Friday. Both 16gb white throuh apple.com. Both still show preparing for shipment on apple and hers is able to be tracked on ups with her number, mine isn't. Hers was a upgrade and mine was ordered as a new line that is the only difference. The apple rep I spoke to said generally when it gets to preparing for shipment it's passed all verification it needs and it's just waiting on the carrier to pick up.
I was told the same thing, looks like ours really are stateside. The rep I spoke to said there is absolutely no reason to worry if we have the "preparing for shipment" status.

I called Apple directly after having no luck on tracking my order as most of you have been able to. The Apple rep told me that mine is scheduled to ship tomorrow from the US, but he would not tell me where in the US. I asked about when I would receive it and he insisted it would be Friday and not earlier like some of the reports on this site. I was hoping for a Thursday delivery since I will be leaving for out of town Friday morning.

That should be arriving in Orlando in the evening so if there is no hold notice, hopefully being shipped tomorrow in the Orlando area

Don't hold your breath. The pallets will likely sit in a secure room in memphis or Louisville until the day before. That's what happened when I bought my 3GS. I didn't buy a 4 so didn't follow that process.
Well, I guess I will know by this evening if they intend to hold or not, since there's no reason the phone wouldn't make the 4:15 flight if they do not have a hold.
Yeah, that is why I said "if there is no hold notice". But I do remember somebody earlier in the thread saying they spoke with UPS on the phone and their package did not have any sort of hold on it.
We shall see what happens, might as well be optimistic and hopeful.

I don't understand how some packages that got scanned at the same time as ours got on an earlier flight. Not fair.
With all these phones on the same flights do you think there will be a reduction in the 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon? Maybe down to 3 Degrees?
