Who is using a case on there 5s and who is going without?

I have a Verizon screen protector and blue belkin candy grip sheer case on mine. Still super sleek with a little protection.

I consider myself to be one of the last of the bare back riders.

----------

I never understood why anybody would use a case on a beautiful design like the iPhone 5 or 5S.

All cases, no matter how slim, absolutely ruin the look. You may think they're sleek and thin, but at the end of the day you have a case and it's just not the same. It sucks. And deep down inside you know it sucks.

Now, of course I understand why people THINK that they have to use a case. Most use it because they feel that's the only way to preserve the phone, its value, blah blah blah...

You can stress about not having a case. Or you can do what I do. When my phone is all banged up and time comes to sell, I simply make an appointment with a genius in an Apple store, make up some bulls**t excuse as to what is not working (such that they can't refute it), and bang, I walk out with a brand new looking phone.

I did this with my iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPhone 5. No questions asked. Exchanged on the spot. Then I sell this brand new looking iPhone. Question is, why would I not take advantage of this when I pay so much money for the phone?

There ya have it. There are millions of sheeple protecting their precious phone. And then there's me, enjoying the sleek design of the phone without a stupid case, and getting a new-looking replacement when it's time to sell.

You're welcome.

Don't hate the player. Hate the game.

I don't want to know how creative you get with your tax returns each year. Lolz.

Have never used a case on any iPhone. Just got a 5S and they bought back my 4S at top value. Never had a case on it either.

Just love the way the phone looks and feels without a case. That's the way it was designed to be used.

My 5s will be delivered tomorrow and it'll be naked as long as I have it. It's been the same for each iPhone I've had since the 3G.

I rock mine with a mophie juice pack...not only because it doubles the battery life but also doubles as a hard case.

Granted, the 5S battery so far lasts me through the day, as I don't leave LTE on, and only turn it on when I actually need to make use of it. I also don't leave background app refresh on for every single app either. I keep my settings in check, but I would rather have the extra battery in case I need it.

Naked like all my iPhones, will sell on in very good condition in either one or two years. I really don't know what people do to there phones unless they let kids use them extensively or admit they drop stuff so a case is deffo a good idea. Same applies if a battery case is needed, at least you're getting some extra functionality.

I don't baby them, I'm no desk jockey either, I drive the oldest, crappiest trains in the Western world (probably) for 35 hours a week and use it at the gym, hiking, mountain biking etc. Simple rule - dedicate an empty pocket or equivalent to it and never use same pocket for anything else.

Heck, even my 5 showed only one minor chip befor I sold it!

I go naked when I am in my daily routine. Work...Home...Dock...Work...Home...Dock...

There are times when I travel and don't want to lug my 5S dock around. Therefore I use a slim back and sides only case.

Seems to work for me. Dropped one phone once in the course of 3-4 years.

no biggy.

I ordered a gold which would be a shame to use with a case and cover up the gold.....otherwise I may as well have gotten a silver. But you bet I'll have Applecare on it and be triple careful with it.

That's what I like about my otterbox commuter case on my 4S, I don't feel like I have to be ultra careful with it like I'm handling a raw egg.

Yeah cases definitely take away from the beauty. And I can see some people who simply due to their work pretty much require a case. I tried the Apple Leather case, I liked it, but not 50 dollars liked it. I'm going naked. I work in an office environment so it's either in my pants on my desk. Would probably have some sort of protection when vacationing in the Caribbean. But that's it.

If it counts, I use a skin from Bestskinsever

It looks naked, but its not :D

PS- When I travel, I like to put it in a case... the skins do not like heat.

One thing that bothered me about my previous phones was putting the phone on tables without a case. I was always worried about scratching the back and or ruining the camera lens. But with aluminum and sapphire crystal I shouldn't be worried about it.

I honestly don't know why these threads keep coming up. If you can bear going naked, do it. Second best alternative is to pickup an ultra thin like the Caudabe Veil and you're good to go. Phone still feels great and it's protected from scuffs. $15 on Amazon and your worries are gone.

Looks like the majority of people to without a case. How many people go without a case but opt for a screen protector?

personally i don't feel the need to stick a screen protector on. my 4S only had a few tiny scratches on the screen after almost 2 years of use. you wouldn't notice them when the screen is turned on.

when i get my 5S i'll be going fully naked! no case or screen protector. i'm tired of worrying about if my phone has scratches. no matter how hard you try to avoid them you'll still get them.

recently made the switch to naked and decided to put the money saved into a slim glass screen protector. Well worth it. 9H hardness and feels the same as the bare screen if not better. Doubles as a way to place the phone on hard surfaces without fear or scratches. win-win-win situation

I went naked (Applecare +) until I found little ding on my week old 5s. Now I have a clear case. :p

I went naked for my 4S and it was in excellent shape even after two years of extensive use.

I tried to go naked with my 5S and ended up with two hairline scratches within 48 hours on the back: one on the aluminum and one on the black plastic (Space Gray). I have no idea how I even got them, considering I was babying it and gently placing it on a microfiber cloth most of the time.

I'm sure those with a 5 already know how fragile the back is on these things but if you're coming from a 4/4S...take my advice and at least pick up a cheap, thin case before you scratch it.

This is the case I bought. Excellent feel to the soft finish, super thin, and is $6.99 with Prime most of the time: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00993E8B6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm still waiting to receive my 5s, but I've been going caseless with my 3gs for most of the 2+ years I've owned it, and it's in near mint condition. I haven't decided if I'll go caseless with my 5s. I'll need to handle it and decide how delicate it is. I don't care that much about superficial bumps or scratches, so long as it works and the screen isn't shattered, and I've purchased Applecare+ for either of those occurrences.

When all is said and done, it's meant to be used and enjoyed. What's the point of Apple making these thin, sleek, metal bodied devices if people just cover and bulk them up anyway?

If you want to use a case fine, but you're delusional if you think you're saving money doing so (resale or otherwise).

The difference between a "like new" phone on Gazelle and one that's in "good" condition is literally $15-35.

eBay closed auctions bear out similar #'s

What else costs 15-35$??? A CASE

Which is worthless when you sell, as no one else wants your lime green bedazzled tpu monstrosity with wear marks all over it.

Naked. Period. Screen protector if you really care (less than a buck). And AppleCare if you're clumsy. Makes going naked 100% worry free.

And probably 6 out of 10 times a case isn't going to keep your phone cosmetically perfect anyway. For the OCD crowd that equates to a new phone, even if the case covers the damage.

The "resale" argument is bs.

And I've NEVER known a case wearer that only had ONE case anyway. Most had 3+. That's almost AC+!

Just admit you're OCD, need a case for you're own sanity (because a scratch would cost you sleep... See "scuff gate") and move on. It's NOT an appreciable difference in resale.

Still trying to get used to no case. Not sure it's working.

Ok twitter. We get it.

This place is like a bus station. Every half hour, all new people standing around talking about the same thing the last people were talking about.

Search forum for naked iphone.

I've had every had iPhone since the original, and I've gone naked on all of them. The only one I dropped was my 3GS which was a freak accident, will never happen again.

I'm using only a screen protector. It's been that way since the firsr iPhone. As soon as the jailbreak for iOS7 comes out, I'll be getting my 5s and will continue to use my device bare.
