I have insurance on my car. And I have warranties on my appliances. I have covers on my furniture, and I clean regularly. I often find that when you take preventative measures, your investments often are safer than when you don't.

Exactly. So rather than wrapping your car in a hideous plastic housing, you pay a small amount monthly and if the car gets damaged, it get's fixed for a small deductible.

If only Apple offered a similar service. What a time to be alive THAT would be...

If you like the way the case looks/feels, fine. If you are a clumsy deep sea oil rig worker that drops his phone 5 times a day, fine. There ARE circustances where cases are fantastic. There aren't many, but I'm not saying naked is for everyone, just 99%.

My overarching point has always been that for the VAST majority of people, AC+ is an insanely superior option to a $34.95 case.

Just like your car. There isn't an OCD'er on the planet that would put an OtterBox defender on a Ferrari... It'd be ridiculous, and goofy looking, and downright hillarious. But a $750 phone? Oh hells to the YA! Wrap that muther UP :p. And don't start with the "no one is going to drop a phone" crap eiher. I didn't start the car analogy, just used it to illustrate the point that no one encapsulates their car in cheap plastic, they buy insurance instead. To the other extreme, no other phone is going to run into your phone at 75MPH T-Bone either...

Scratches? Scratches happen all the time on cars. People don't freak out, because they understand that as a device they use every day, it's going to show a LITTLE wear and tear. If it's bad (keyed as an example), insurance steps in. Dirty? Wash it. Crack a windshield? Replace it.

But put a case on your car? LMAO... Of course not. Even clear-bra's can look ridiculous if they're not done well. The beauty of a nice car is too nice to hide with crap all over it, so people don't, even if it'd "protect" it.

Go naked. Buy AC+ if you need to. You'll enjoy the phone more, save money on cases, and eventually will thank me. Again, there ARE instances where even I endorse a case, they just comprise about 1% of users. The rest... well, don't put a plastic (or leather) shell on your Ferrari

Apple leather case and zagg glass protector. Completely protected and still slim. Leather feels better than aluminum in my opinion

Does it really offer great protection? I don't think you're lying...it's just hard to believe it offers that much protection when I see cases like the otterbox that are super bulky. If you really recommend it I'm going to have to check it out!

I have an otterbox on my phone. I have had it that way for over a year. I do not drop it every day. Not every week. Rarely at all. But there have been two separate occasions when I have dropped it. Both times, the phone has landed on one of the corners. In other words, should the otterbox have not been there, the screen would have cracked and been ugly.

The $30 otterbox was my "insurance", like I pay on my car. It protects it from it's threats.

Had I not had the case on it, the phone very well might have broken, and I would have been forced to pay for a replacement, no cheaper than $300.

I'm glad that you have been fortunate enough to not have ever dropped your phone yet. But if you seriously think that 99% of people don't need protection/just dont use protection-- then please explain why there are cases EVERYWHERE for them, and why nearly everyone HAS a case. You are NOT the majority.

The car analogy might not have been perfect. I admit. So I change: Would you wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle?

It is "cooler" and "sexier" to not wear one. It feels better. You have a sense of freedom.

But IF you wreck, the lack of a helmet will certainly increase the chances of you ending your own life.

If you wear the helmet when you wreck, your chances of living go up.

The odds of you crashing are not very high. In fact, you probably wont.

But wouldn't you rather have a helmet on if you found yourself crashing? I know I would.

I've also got the official lightning dock from Apple, and as anyone who owns one will know, it's designed for a naked phone.

I've actually got several cases, including the official Apple one, but since it's a pain to take in and out of the case everyday to fit it in the dock, I've just got a glass screen protector on the front and nothing on the rest.

Naturally it has some scratches, nicks, and even a dent above the apple logo, but its a risk I choose to take, and as long as the screen isn't smashed I'm not too bothered.

In my experience, most cases never make much difference anyway. Shock absorption my ass.

To be honest with you, there's really no way for me to ensure you that it offers "great" protection because I have NEVER dropped my phone (**knocks on wood**) I'm actually more of a fan of the screen protector than the case. The case is great but the screen protector is AMAZING. I was walking trough my garage and I was carrying wayyy too much stuff and I smacked my iPhone face first into the bar on my weight set. The screen and the protector are fine and I am happy I had it on. Honestly I've bought and sold enough iPhones to know that otter boxes actually cause way more damage than they protect against. There is always little pits on the back of iPhones that we're in otter boxes, always.

I wouldn't recommend it... Especially if you are one of those people that are very OCD about scratch. I had my iphone 5 without screen protector for about 3 months. I saw very careful with it. Yet I somehow still got a hairline scratch on the screen! Grrrrrrrrrr

Thin and protected. And they match #

as near naked iPhone 5 as I can get.. Evutec Karbon Fibre snap case.. quite classy!
Never comes off and fits in the Belkin dock perfectly.

Hi everyone, i've been trying a lot of different cases/back covers/bumpers for my 5s and i still can't find the perfect one. I think the size, weight and feel of the naked iPhone can't be experienced with a case; however, it's too scary for mee to not use any protection on my 5s.

To those who don't wear any cases, do you recommend it? Is your iPhone too damaged, scratched, etc.? Have you ever regret not using a case? Please convince me to go naked:D

I have not been using a case with my iPhone since the 4s (initially had screen protector and case, but removed them because I didn't like the way they worked).

I have a slight scuff on the chamfered edge of my iPhone 5s, but you can't really see it's there. Sure, I am taking a risk with my iPhone, but it also means that I am benefiting from interacting with a great material. And given that I hold my iPhone so many times a day, I think the please that comes from using / handling it cannot be understated. I just love the way a naked iPhone feels in my hand. I love how it's so thin and light and how my hand just fits around it just right.

Am I flirting with danger? Maybe, but I will cross the bridge when I get there. :)

I walked around naked to make Jony Ive happy. Then my girlfriend dropped my phone by accident. Only damage were some dings on the chamfers on the back. Then I got the 5s case and admired it as a case per se but I didn't appreciate the extra bulk, even if it was minimal. I liked the idea of added protection, especially when I bumped into something but in the end I decided I preferred the lightness and thinness of the naked iPhone. So the only time I bother with the $40 case is when I absolutely need some kind of protection.

My hubby and I are two more fans in the Caudabe Veil fan club. I just like it because it doesn't even look I have a case on my phone, but yet there's still protection for when my phone is clanking around inside my purse. I've dropped it at least twice where I'm pretty sure if I didn't have the Veil on, there would've been a nice ugly chip on my phone. The Veil cracked but it did its job and is cheap enough that I don't mind buying another one.

So I tried being naked this past weekend. It was very nerve wracking. I was afraid of dropping my phone so much that the mental anguish simply wasnt worth it. I had my otterbox back on it before lunch on Saturday.

I simply can't handle the stress of it.

This from another thread;
I'm speaking for myself when I say this:

Apple's design team does an amazing job rolling out the trendiest of phone designs.

I don't feel like insulting their art work by covering it all up with a case.

The best things in the world are naked.

I would like to keep on talking about this, making slight innuendos, but I'm worried that the moderators are going to ban me :p so I'm going to stop here.

My iPhone 4s has not really seen a case since I got it three years ago, and it would still have been in pristine condition --- despite a couple drops, if my SIL hadn't accidentally knocked it off a table:(. I now have a small crack in the lower right corner, I believe.

Regardless, I do not plan to use a case on my iPhone 6 as I find them usually bulky and I just prefer the feel of my iPhone au natural.

Pardon me, but what is a SIL?

It's funny how people say Apple meant for the phone to be naked disregarding the fact that Apple also makes and sells cases for the iPhone as well.
